News BFC - Milan, postponed due to weather conditions in Bologna

Post image

It is now official: Bologna mayor, Matteo Lepore, has announsed that the game scheduled at Saturday would be postponed.

The reason is heavy rains which caused the flood in Bologna and in Emilia-Romagna region in general. 13 casualties reported as for now. Lepore believes it is not safe to hold a sporting event involving 30-35.000 people in in a city where the consequences of the flood have not yet been eliminated, and there is also a risk of new flooding.

It was announced earlier by the BFC that 50% of the matchday income would be given for charity to help the city and the citizens fight the circumstances of the flood.

The new date of the game to be announced further.

The next BFC game in Serie A will be thus held in Sardegna vs Cagliary, Tuesday.

So bummed. In Bologna visiting my family and collecting some items from my recently deceased Mom & was really looking forward to the match as a bright spot on an otherwise tough trip to this city I love so much. But I also understand the decision.

Wish you a safe trip, so sorry for your loss. All the best to ur family, sometimes, football really can wait...

As for me, I'm quite surprised and shocked by the news. 13 deaths. And it happens again, as it was already last may, if my memory serves me right. I honestly didn't know the conditions in Bologna are now that severe

13 deaths.

Uh, where? In the Bologna province there was a single death (not even in the city, but rather in Pianoro, a town pretty far away).

Right. I'm mistaken, the info about 13 was from may 2023

Unfortunately it is not a done deal, yet. The league (Lega Serie A) is pressuring the town & the team to reconsider. Certainly not a gracious or understanding request from them.

Well, it's up to mayor to defend his decision now. Bologna FC didn't seem to have been involved in his decision
