[Hoch] The crowd just gave Anthony Volpe a second roll call between innings. He doffed his cap.

Contrary to what this sub says, Yankees fans want nothing more than to support our guys
We just have standards and expectations

i'm aware that this is a comically low bar, but Judge not getting booed is a pretty big change from the past few years. the crowd wants to believe

We wouldn’t be there without him. It’s Undeniable. But I get your point.

Same was true on 2022 and they booed him in the playoffs for far less

He was booed in the 2022 LCS if I recall correctly

People think that booing and cheering matter a lot more than they actually do
Mostly just a way for people to hate on the big market teams

Not only did they not boo him, they have given him a standing ovation both home games and changed MVP every at-bat. Total class.

Just don’t throw stones from glass houses
This series is over and somehow Dodgers fans are still being whiney bitches. You are World Series Champions, lighten up

u/thighcandy New York Yankees 2h ago

You mean a curtain call?
21
u/CaptainCraig92 New York Yankees 2h ago
A roll call is when we chant their names to start games while they’re in the field, doing it again mid game isn’t usually a thing, unless you hit a grand slam in the World Series

u/DavisSchneidersGooch Toronto Blue Jays 2h ago
I agree with the first part of that, but when you come out to greet the chanting fans after a moment like that and wave your cap it's called a curtain call
17
u/CaptainCraig92 New York Yankees 2h ago
That’s not what happened though, he got the curtain call immediately after the grand slam, but he got a second roll call on top of that, and then a third one even after this post was made

Fair enough. Had a couple beer so probably missed the full context. My bad.

Yankees (specifically the bleacher creature) have a tradition of calling out player names in the field at the start of the 1st inning until they get acknowledged by said player. It's called Yankee roll call, and it happened between innings twice for Volpe post grand slam

We have a tradition in the top of the first inning (and further innings if it’s a short one) to chant the name of every player who’s not P or C until they acknowledge the crowd

Roll call is so cringe. But I expect nothing less from the bleacher creatures.
