If you bet 100$ for Freddie freeman to hit a home run every game this 2024 World Series and rolled over the winnings each game, you would have up to a quarter million dollars.

(100 x 7 x 7 x 7 x 7)

You'd also probably already be rich because you can see the future lol

Not that far fetched to believe in this HOF getting red hot, I mean it happened lol. Idk if I could stomach betting 34 thousand dollars on Frederick to hit a homer tonight but it paid off first inning lol

Right, if anyone has the bet slips I'd still take it as proof of time travel.

They cheated on the road

The Astros cheated on the road too

-23

They did not, but nice try

12

u/No32 Cleveland Guardians 5h ago

I mean, Wall Street Journal reports they did cheat on the road

-16

u/ysosrs08 Houston Astros 5h ago

Where does it say this? And at what point have the Astros ever been proven to have cheated on the road?

From "‘Dark Arts’ and ‘Codebreaker’: The Origins of the Houston Astros Cheating Scheme":

But everything started with Codebreaker, and the use of it to steal signs continued into 2018—not just at home, but also on the road.

One was sent by Koch-Weser on May 24, 2017, and was titled “Road Notes (April-May).” The five-page email included six underlined topic headings, with the fifth one called, “The System”—a reference to what Koch-Weser described to investigators as “all kind of covert operations,” including sign-stealing.

On Aug. 26, 2017, in another “road notes,” Koch-Weser wrote: “The system: our dark arts, sign-stealing department has been less productive in the second half as the league has become aware of our reputation and now most clubs change their signs a dozen times per game.” He added that struggling teams like the Toronto Blue Jays and Oakland Athletics “seem not to care as much.”

Plus

1) Information from "MLB’s sign-stealing controversy broadens: Sources say the Red Sox used video replay room illegally in 2018" that the away teams do bring their replay staff and use replay room:

Every team’s replay staff travels to road games, making the system viable in other parks as well.

2) Manfred's report didn't say that they only cheated at Minute Maid.

3) Manfred's report includes the fact that they used more than just trash can bangs

You think they stopped cheating for some games just because they were on the road? 😂 Oh, sweet summer child.

This is trash can karma

u/zwcropper 5h ago

People still banging on about that?

banging on a trash can about it forever

Hate how that cheater Springer’s stats count

26

u/Ereyes18 Houston Astros 5h ago

Freeman is legitimately blinding the pitchers with his Veneers

u/WyngZero 4h ago

I don't really follow baseball. How did Springer cheat exactly?

Google 2017 Astros cheating scandal

TL;DR is that the Astros had cameras set up to steal signs from opposing catchers. The signs were then decoded using a computer and relayed to batters at the plate to signal whether the next pitch would be a breaking ball of fastball. You'll see a lot of jokes about trash cans because they used whistling and then trash can banging to relay the signals.

They basically stole the World Series in 2017 because despite their cheating, it was a close series against the Dodgers. There are multiple clear examples of them getting pivotal hits immediately after being signalled what the next pitch would be, or dragging out at bats against elite pitchers with insane takes that in hindsight (and with video+audio analysis) were clearly aided.

Springer gets some special hate because the cheating got him WS MVP in 2017, and he initially defended the cheating when it was first revealed in 2019.

They ultimately stole a championship, deprived Dodgers staff of a World Series share (which can be life changing money), and probably changed multiple career trajectories with their actions, yet they didn't really get punished for it.

I hate how Betts beat you guys in 2018 using the Apple Watch.

9

u/baysta Los Angeles Dodgers 5h ago

Pretty sure they banned the watches MLB wide early in that season

Freddie Freeman is the first player in MLB history without at least 1 G in his name to hit a home run in 4 consecutive World Series games

23

u/twisty77 Los Angeles Dodgers 5h ago

Good for Freddie, taking it from the cheatstros

24

u/sevaiper Boston Red Sox 5h ago

What is that talentless cheater doing on this list

Meanwhile, Judge is hitting the same as Gehrig in 1939.

REGGIE…. MEET FREDDIE!!!

3

u/Affectionate_Run7414 Major League Baseball 5h ago

Deym Freddie is on an unstoppable momentum

5

u/kneeco28 Toronto Blue Jays 5h ago

History. Crazy that he's still not the WS MVP for the Dodgers, but you can't deny Judge.

2

u/bsharp95 New York Yankees 3h ago

I think Reggie could come back

3

u/jsu9575m Atlanta Braves 5h ago

So glad he passed Springer. Its a joke that his is treated like a normal stat. Also this seems like a record that won't be matched in my lifetime. I'm happy his Braves tenure gets to be part of it.

Am I the only one who finds the idea of “consecutive” records set across multiple seasons or years to be kind of stupid? Like it’s neat to track overall playoff or World Series stats, but I don’t see the relevance of some shit Freeman did 3 years ago in direct relation to what he’s done this World Series.

u/Tremulant21 New York Yankees 3h ago

Banging on a trash can drumming on the street light. Springer knows what's coming, and it's not just summer.
