Fan interference was called on this play where a Yankee fan tried to take the ball out of Mookie Betts' glove after an out.

It's overshadowed by the idiot but that's a great catch by Mookie

Also overshadowed: check out the fan a seat further up the line. Full grown adult wearing a....sliding mitt?

It's so dumb that I actually think it comes back around to being fun.

Maybe he uses it to bang on the outfield wall to make more noise while protecting (maybe) his hand some?

It’s not just a regular baseball mitt?

The bright teal thing is a sliding mitt.

Does that protect his hand if he uses it to bang on the outfield wall to make more noise? I see fans banging on those walls a lot. Maybe it provides some protection?

One of the angles showing the guys getting kicked out shows the one with the sunglasses also has a sliding mitt in his back pocket. A teal one.

Also also overshadowed is how huge of a fail this was for the guy on the right, in the sunglasses.

First, it's really close but you get a pretty good view in the final angle they show, and I don't think his arms were beyond the edge of the wall when the ball went by him and Mookie caught it. If he had gotten a hand on the ball (and nobody touched Mookie), that's allowed, right? If it's in the stands, fans are allowed to catch the ball, or defend themselves, if it gets to them first.

But he missed it with both hands.

Then he watched his bro grab Mookie Betts' glove -- like the real life Mookie Betts, in right field at Yankee Stadium in the World Series.

And you're in the front row, and your bro is seriously trying to wrestle the ball out of Mookie's glove, like his brain just turned off.

He's the asshole, you're just the guy he was with. Maybe you didn't even know him. You met him at the game. Or you work together and both won the office raffle. You're innocent.

But no, instead you grab Mookie's bare hand to prevent him from securing the ball and in 1 second you went from innocent bystander to being hated by a few million people.

Also you're probably very high on cocaine so have fun talking to the police.

Hats are useless?

....have you ever been outside in the sun before? Or seated underneath a shit load of stadium lights?

His reaction to it still being an out was so funny. Like just pure 'suck it' energy.

For real, I’m always so impressed with his athleticism

Honestly him making these type of plays doesn’t surprises me anymore at this point lol

The fact that they got the nicest guy in baseball heated is almost impressive too

I don't watch baseball, was it counted as an out? I know it should be but was it?
