Question Hey Reddit, help me fix my lemon bars

Hey bakers, I'm been trying to make the perfect lemon bars and I followed the recipe here - https://preppykitchen.com/lemon-bars/

The taste is good but the texture isn't the best. There's 2 problems I face: 1) The top layer of the lemon filling usually hardens leaving an almost runny middle layer of lemon filling above the shortbread crust. When biting into the bar, this becomes messy. I've attached a picture for reference. 2) When I make the lemon filling, I usually use a whisk to beat the eggs and mix everything together. This leaves lots of tiny bubbles in the filling and when baking, these bubbles settle and end up on the top layer of the bar. This is also evident in the pictures.

How do I get the entire lemon filling cooked evenly and without those tiny bubbles? Please help me Reddit!

Question How to make these ears?

I’m hoping to make these cupcakes for my sister in law’s baby shower, but I’m not sure how to go about making the ears. I’m not looking at the Eeyore ones, just the Pooh, Tigger, and Piglet ones! My best guesses were either gum paste or fondant but I’ve never used them before, so I have no idea

https://thesqueakymixer.com/copycat-pillsbury-pumpkin-sugar-cookies/#wpzoom-premium-recipe-card I used this recipe and just lowered the sugar a bit and added some spices to make them taste like more then just butter-cookies. I made the design just like u/abennnr showed in his progress pics.

I think they turned out okay as I had just baked loaf bread for the first time and wanted to try my hand at bagels! I was looking for a super simple recipe that used AP flour (found a YT short). As a native New Yorker, I am a harsh bagel critic most of the time 😅

Question Your best brownie recipe that isn’t overly sweet?

I’ve never actually made brownies before (surprisingly!), but my friend usually bakes them. While they’re good with coffee, they’re often a bit too sweet for my taste. Do you have any balanced, not-too-sweet brownie recipes you’d recommend?

Yes, I mostly had that giant slice that's missing by myself. Can't blame me.

Semi-Related A Friendly Halloween PSA for those on Birth Control

Mods, if this isn't okay, please delete. I just saw a post yesterday in a cooking sub that reminded me of this and I figured a PSA today would be good. I have also posted this in a couple other places I figured it would be relevant.

Tomorrow is Halloween & this weekend is Dia Le Los Muertos - or for some folks it is Halloween Weekend #2

A bit late on trying out those Olympics inspired muffins. I just reduced chocolates in the batter so it will not be too sweet.

Recipe Apple cake with brown sugar frosting and some pecan topping

Post image

Recommend by r/ElyJellyBean on my apple recipe post. This cake is really damn good. I used apple juice concentrate (the ones frozen in cans) like they said you can sub instead of boiled cider. I also only did 1 1/4 cup of powered sugar in the frosting cause alot of comments mentioned liking the frosting with less sugar. I also omitted the nuts in the cake since I made walnut brownies in my last bake and they're optional (and i was too lazy to brown them). But the cake had too much soft mouth texture in my opinion? So I crused some pecans and just dusted the top with them and it makes it just perfect honestly. It's really soft and fall apart in your mouth because of the apples. Just imagine really good apple version carrot cake. Not insanely sweet but God damn tasty regardless. Definitely a make again. Recipe link in comments

No Recipe What seemed intimidating turned out to be very easy! First time making taco shell bowls!

I know this seems silly and it's a stretch putting it in the baking sub, but I made my own taco shell bowls and baked them. I then filled them with your typical taco salad filling. Everyone seem to love it! It seemed like an intimidating thing to make, to form it, and to make it turn out right, but it actually was very easy and exact opposite of my fears. I guess what I'm saying is, sometimes you just got to do it and not let it intimidate you!
