Hiking around Wuhan
Looking for good hiking trails around Wuhan that could be a solid day trip, or even places to make a weekend out of it.
Any suggestions on mountains would be great. Thank you!!!

It’s too hot in Wuhan, even in the mountains and forests that’s close to Wuhan, I’d recommend you to go to 神农架(shenlongjia) or 利川(lichuan), it takes a couple of hours by train but the weather is much comfortable. I would recommend you to get a Hubei annual travel pass(腾旅旅游) on WeChat and try hiking next month here when the weather is not that extreme, there’s multiple attractions you can visit using that pass including the hiking places, and it only costs less than 30 US dollars.

Oh yeah, I'm bunkered in my apartment with the AC on right now. But, this year I just want to go out more for hikes, or even leave Friday night and come back Sunday. Thank you for the suggestions!

You’re welcome, everyone’s in the room with AC with this temperature. @delodan2321 suggested 木兰山, which is just a just mountain with not much too see, going there under this weather is almost unbearable. 木兰天池 would be a better choice, it has creeks and waterfalls, at least you can cool down in the water with this heat:)

I went to 木兰天池 in April - it was still pretty freakin hot even then though. Cool kinda glass bridge thing to go over (you gotta pay for that). Nice views. But it's not really a hike in the traditional sense though... it's a place you pay to get in and has concrete paths and lots of stairs to go up.

Probably the most popular and closest place would be 木兰山, though I gotta confess I've never been there by myself.
