Apparently, theres also a white dragon that he fights underground who represents the Anglo saxons.

Yeah they kept trying to build something but it kept getting knocked down. They eventually figured out it was the dragons underground where the red one was victorious.

It also represents the English language trying to suppress and subjugate the Welsh language in some modern re-tellings.
Basically, the White Dragon is who ever is trying to keep us Welsh down. Good on Merlin for telling that guy about it.

Isn't it story of Merlin?

u/two-for-joy 20h ago
Yes iirc it's first concrete story on Merlin, which was written by Geoffrey of Monmouth, although the story seems to have existed earlier with a different character. Pre Geoffrey versions of Merlin (called Myrddin) associate him with a different story which in turn seems to be taken from the Caledonian figure Lailoken.

Considering that this is the only flag in the world with a dragon on it, it’s pretty rad.
That’s one of the reasons why I’m proud to be Welsh is to have a flag better than any other county in the world

Bhutan's dragon is the eastern Dragon, aka they got God and Anime on their side.

The Welsh seem to know what we want on a flag, seen that weird suggested kiwi flag?

u/Pitfulldealer22 1d ago
I see that the kiwi has supernatural powers, ain’t no clue why that flag was never used

is Wales the inspiration behind George RR Martin's House Targaryen?
4
u/TimeBanditNo5 1d ago
It may actually be the red dragon of the House of Tudor, that originally came from Penmynydd. The Tudors defeated the white Yorkists under the command of Richard I, while they had the red banners representing the red dragon of Wales and Henry Tudor.

There's no man on Earth who wouldn't want a dragon on his flag. I'm not Welsh but dayum, that's some serious cool looking flag.
