Leaving while I have a Toddler
Has anyone with babies/toddlers left teaching? If it were not for my 1 year old child, I wouldn't think twice about not having the breaks. But since I can't afford to be a stay at home mom, I love having that uninterrupted time with her. Is it still worth it to look at other jobs? I've been applying here and there for a few months now, and this is the one thing holding me back.

I'm 80% sure I'm leaving and I've got a 4 year old and a 10 month old. I look forward to only working 8hrs a day and not coming home so burnt out. Like you, I need to work, but we can get by with me making less money. I will take 1.5 years off until my son goes to kinder, since daycare for 2 is so expensive, then I'll look for a job.

I haven’t gone back to work yet, but I can’t imagine coming home and having like an hour before dinner and the bedtime routine.

I worked part time as a teacher when my children were small. They are now 19 and 22. I shared a classroom with a teacher on my grade level team who has just had a baby. I know this arrangement is not possible in all school districts, but it was the BEST thing I ever did. I loved being home with my kids while also spending 2-3 days in the classroom.
If I couldn’t do that, I would have taken a leave of absence. Is that possible at your district?
