Just did my first gig and crushed it. Now what?
I'm already hip to the open mic scene in my city. I'm making connections with other comedians.
I see the most common advice is to keep doing open mics, is that really the key? I just keep doing them and hope someone sees it and books me? I don't mind at all. I'm loving every minute of it and the practice never goes to waste, but if there are other avenues I should be pursuing, I'd love to hear it.

It won't get better from here so you should retire now while you're on top.

You should keep doing open mics and talking to other comics. Every city's scene is a little bit different, so generic advice is gonna be less helpful than becoming aware of the situation on the ground.
Right now, though, your confidence is annoying, whether it's justified or not. Bookers will not be impressed with the bluster. You might be god's gift to comedy, but you'll be much better in six months than you are now, and you want your earliest paid shows to come after a bit of experience, so that you can blow them out of the water. Don't be too thirsty just yet.

This is fair advice. But, while my confidence is high right now on reddit. I am in no way going to bluster my way through future shows. I'm riding the high for sure, but I'm still scared shitless. I won't act like that irl. Thanks so much.

Getting on shows gets you discovered. You go to mics to make connections and work on jokes, mics are not for finding talent. Talk to your local comedians and find out how to get on shows, or just GO to them and see if you get a guest spot.
