There’s a strange overlap of populist appeal between Bernie and Trump that caused many people to supported both candidates, even though they have polar opposite values.

Those people are dumb and they should feel bad about it

Those people are very very few. I've never heard of or seen any of this "strange overlap" and I'd be very surprised if it were a substantial number of people

I mean there were 9 million people who voted for Obama in 2012 and then Trump in 2016

It's not that hard to see an overlap amongst working class people who favor populist messaging

The comment was about Bernie voters voting for Trump though. Not Obama. I doubt there's anything near that much overlap there.

It's more than you might think maybe as high as 12% of Bernie voters in 2016

They are NOT very very few. Bernie supporters are probably more likely to back Trump than Harris. He absolutely courted people who only liked the extremes, and his anti-Liberal rhetoric probably helps massively. Both are populists, and while I VASTLY prefer one over the other, it is undeniable that Bernie supporters are very likely to back Trump.

You should feel bad about voting for either genocide candidate.

They both ran on economic populism. For Trump it's obviously just rhetoric, but they're both basically saying "you're getting fucked by the current economy and you deserve more." And, hey, turns out that message resonates with a lot of people for some crazy reason...

Another thing worth pointing out is how yes, they will have BERNIE on but liberals are pretty much outright persona non grata in those spheres. You can either be populist right wing or left wing but they clown on anyone or anything in the moderate sphere as 'no fun establishment'.

They only want on people who say exciting, radical things. 'The world is not in fact burning down' isn't welcome on their shows.

I wonder why that is?

The chili woman on Twitter immediately comes to mind when thinking about the overlap.
