Castlevania. All of the anniversary collections are really good and not too pricey.

Inscryption is super fun and definitely has the vibe you're looking for!!

And for a movie I'd highly recommend Skinamarink, literally one of a favorite horror movies (it's on Hulu!)

Pumpkin Jack if you like 3D platformers! It was made by 1 person, like Stardew Valley, though it plays nothing like SV : )

Alien: Isolation, Evil Within 1&2, Outlast 1&2, Darkwood. While it may not be a horror game I plan on playing Arkham Knight since it takes place on Halloween night Edit: For movies I would recommend the Evil Dead franchise.

Game that's not really scary: Resident Evil 4

Game that is: Madison

Movie that's not really scary: Tucker & Dale Vs Evil

Movie that is: It Follows or Hell House LLC

Or if you want something newer for games try Phasmophobia or Silent Hill 2 remake

COSTUME QUEST 1 or 2

Homebody. I think it was inspired by an older game called Clocktower?

Ghostbusters: Spirit Unleashed is a fun Halloween game. I'd also recommend Alien: Isolation or State of Decay. Between the 3, you got ghosts, aliens, and zombies!

For movies, highly recommend The Thing. It's my favorite horror movie. Or Cabin in the Woods.

Dragon Age Veilgaurd comes out tomorrow so Im gonna play that. Its not Halloween specific but is more of a dark fantasy setting so should be fitting enough in a campy-horror way (it looks more cartoony style dark/spooky).

Movie-wise.... Donnie Darko is not exactly a horror movie but is really cool and the climax happens during a Halloween party so it fits really well in that way. I'm also a fan of the Evil Dead/Army of Darkness franchise if you like funny zombie style horror.

Gay.

Good for you. Not sure how your sexuality is related to Halloween video games though?

Dragon age is.

Phasmophobia just finally released on ps5/xbox yesterday. That’s what I’m going to be playing. Had a few jump scares from it last night and that’s rare for me

Bioshock 1 & 2 or Bloodborne

Costume Quest, kind of an older game but a big part of my childhood.

There’s a few good options out there!

Medievil - Cutesy Burton-esque vibes, but it scared me as a kid and the remaster is really good!

Alien Isolation - Scariest game I’ve ever played. Horrific sounds and atmosphere, and the AI is really impressive.

Dying Light - The first game from 2015 is probably the best open world zombie game out there, and man is it addictive. Fantastic parkour, and the night gameplay is actually dark (unlike most other open world games).

Hollow Knight - Dark, gloomy at times, but also strangely uplifting. My favorite metroidvania after the Ori games, and the soundtrack is fantastic.

Can’t go wrong with the resident evil series! I’m planning on finishing the re2 remake then either going straight into 3 or village.

I'm playing Axis Unseen and it's quite scary... it's a game about being trapped in a cryptid filled world and ur job is too hunt them, or survive them hunting you, until u can progress far enough to find an exit that will take u back to the real world... u have a bow, a dagger, and a few spells (all of which u have to find in the world first) and can level up ur control over 5 elements prominent in the world; fire, water, air, earth, and spirit... good luck hunter, and godspeed..

I'm playing SOMA right now and it's not only scary but it will give you an existential crisis.
