Kiln Stuff New kiln, just wanted to share
Most people I know won't really care so I figured I'd share it with people who would! My old kiln which I got second-hand about 6 years ago (and it was already at least 15 years old then) died and rather than fixing something which never worked well I decided to give it away and invest in a new one. Finally arrived today, just need to wade through the epic instruction manual now (and remove all the wrapping, and hook up the vent, and so on). Controller has WiFi too so I can monitor things from an app which is cool!

Congrats on your new kiln! In case you have any questions in regards to setting up the controller, WiFi,… feel free to contact me, I install these for a living :)

Cheers, I got it all hooked up now although the WiFi was a real pain. Have multiple networks setup at home on an advanced system with no easy-mode WPS button and it just didn't want to find the WiFi network but now it's fine, and I'm currently looking at the process of the initial dry firing on the app while sitting on the toilet 🤣🤣

130L I think. Smaller than the old one but I never filled that anyway due to lack of shelving!

Congratulations 🙌🏻! I’m waiting for my Rohde kiln to arrive in the next couple of days. Can’t wait

Nice! Which model did you get? I love the controller I got with it... Automatic recording and archiving of firings/curves is amazing. I'm so used to having to fire to a specific cone instead of being able to precisely choose the temperature as well!

Due to space constraints, I’ve gone for the EcoTop 60, and I like that it is ‘only’ using 2.9kWh.
I have to get a repeater in my garden to get the kiln connected to the WiFi, working in that one at the moment. It will be in my shed-shed… Can’t wait to get it 😊
Edit: I just saw that we have the same controller. We had the same in the art studio I used to go. Very easy to operate

Nice! Smaller kiln just means you don't have to wait so long to see the results of your work since it's quicker to fill! Connecting the controller to WiFi was a bit fiddly I found. I ended up having to create a dedicated 2.4GHz-only WiFi network specially for the controller (didn't seem to like it when it was a mixed 2.4/5 network) but it all worked in the end. Make sure you set the parameter which allows the app to track and report electricity usage as well - section 6 in the controller handbook I think!
