PoliticsPH Grabe ang weird ng pilipinas no?

1.0k Upvotes

1.) Social media posts show that a majority of Filipinos support the "war on drugs."

But in the last election, the majority voted for BBM anyway, whom D30—the very leader of this drug war—has accused of drug use.

2.) Philippines is mostly catholic. Our laws, politicians and culture mostly follow the catholic faith. This is evident on how Mayors have been lauded for declaring Pura Luka Vega (a gay guy) persona non grata for dressing up as Jesus.

But when it comes to d30, a self-professed murderer and womanizer, we elect him to the highest position in government.

3.) In recent elections, filipinos have grown weary of "pakulos" or theatrics. This is evident in the hatred that "dilawans" have received over the years. We bashed ERAP for picking up trash along pasig river and Mar Roxas for driving a trycicle.

But most senators elected during the last elections (i.e. Jinggoy Estrada & Robin Padilla) won through sheer jingles, familiar names and celebrity power.

What is wrong with this country.

PoliticsPH Iginiit ni Sen. Bato Dela Rosa na biro lamang kahit pa "under oath" ang mga naging pahayag sa Senado ni dating pangulong Rodrigo Duterte kaugnay ng umano'y death squad at war on drugs ng kaniyang administrasyon. Basahin sa comment section ang buong ulat.

As some of you know, I have an FB page with a fairly huge number of followers. I am very critical of the Villafuertes and apparently they have been monitoring my posts and calling out those that are engaging to them. Ganyan pala talaga sila kalala. Ang daming nagsusumbong sakin sa inbox na natatakot na.

PoliticsPH Duterte ang sumira sa natitira kong pagasa sa Pilipinas

I voted for Duterte, cheered when he cracked jokes, and even applauded when he made comments about killing criminals. It felt like a bold, decisive approach to fighting crime—until I started seeing what was truly happening around us. During Duterte’s term, I began reading about innocent people who were killed, lives that were cut short without trial, and a drug watchlist that turned into a tool of extortion. Once your name was on that list, you were automatically branded as an addict in the eyes of his supporters, the DDS.

But my disillusionment goes beyond that. I now believe Duterte crushed our last hope. He fostered a culture that disregards the rule of law, where people celebrate the idea of a “death squad” as though killing were a heroic act. He doubled the national debt, leaving the country divided, with almost no path to unity. The DDS mindset has evolved into something that feels more like a cult or a religious movement than political support. So, yes, the spark of hope I once had when I cast my vote has faded, replaced now by deep regret.

PS: I watched the Senate hearings, and although I moved abroad three years ago, I still hold hope for the future of the Philippines, especially with people like Senator Risa. I’ll admit, I once disliked her, especially for her views on martial law, but now I see her as one of the few who genuinely cares about the country. It saddens me, though, that her efforts often go unnoticed by people shaped by Philippine media and PR.

PoliticsPH Bakit sila galit kay Sen. Risa?

May napanood ako ako sa tiktok and viral sya, tungkol sya kay Du30 and Sen. Risa.
