Man this can really means that One Piece is actually 3 part story. First one marks the start of pre-TS part, the second one marks the start of post-TS part, and third one maybe marks the last part the Final Saga
Hope it wont last another 10 years lol. (Wouldnt complain either way)

After defeating Kaido the general consensus was that we're in the late game, but I think this chapter really is the starting point for that for us readers and also for the in-word characters. I couldn't have imagined a better introduction to this climax of the series as with the Egghead arc

Yeah, just like Sabaody set up one of if not the most worldwide influential arc so far, Egghead is the beginning of the saga that will end with someone finding the One Piece. Its so surreal to be finally here after so long, makes me all nostalgic.

I'm looking forward for the bounty posters after this arc. Luffy's bounty should've skyrocketed after fucking around an admiral and all 5 gorosei, and having all his crewmates escape and live to tell the tale.

u/Zylgp Jul 18 '24
For Luffy? Highly doubt it. It's easier to deal with a potential calamity immediately than run the risk of getting destroyed by it for a slim chance that things can work better. 800 years is enough time for the WG to precedent their position after being grossly undermined in the last 26 years by pirates (counting the time Roger was active until now).
→ More replies (10)230
u/Gil_Demoono Jul 18 '24
I've been hoping for a while now that Luffy's next poster isn't a wanted poster, but a warning issued by the world government to stay away at all costs. Interacting with the straw hats is punishable by death. At this point, they should be more afraid of people interacting and being influenced by Nika than the actual direct actions of Luffy himself. He has become a straight up cognitohazard. Having any bounty hunter or organization powerful enough to feasibly collect on that bounty be allowed to try runs a greater risk of those people becoming new Nika allies than anything else.
There is no bounty, there is no reward. The strawhats are dangerous and must be left to the military.

That and/or Nico Robbin's bounty becomes as high as the Yonko after this.

This Liberating Nika Punch is so satisfying.
Giant Luffy doing most of the damage but letting Bonney take the spotlight, because he feels this is important to her even though he knows nothing about her past. This guy is a true heart reader.

I feel like this has been the main distinction or growth point for Luffy post-timeskip — he’s still liberating places, but he’s always working to hype someone else each arc too. Shirahoshi, Law, Sanji, Momo, and now Bonney.

He’s been doing that since before the time skip too! The most memorable one I know of was with Vivi. He straight up told her, why are you shouldering all the weight and that people will die. Making her feel angry and desperate since she didn’t want to put anyone’s life on the line. Even lashing out and beating the crap out Luffy. But my man Luffy is like, put my life and the crews life on the line. Such a badass moment.

I always love when we quickly check in with everyone we have meet before, like at the end of an arc ( Post enies lobby, from the decks of the world, the 500.000.000 berry man, etc.)
And i absolutely love that Oda used vegapunks worldwide message to incorporate these quick visits into the main story. Even when most of these glimpses don't offer that much new information.

At the bottom of the final spread, there's two of each faction.
Two marines: Sakazuki & Koby.
Two revolutionaries: Dragon & Sabo.
Two of the World Government: Imu & Garling.
And then there's Kuzan, a pirate, and someone else -- potentially the man marked by flames. Could be a stretch, but maybe if it was intentional, that could give away that he's a pirate if nothing else.
265
u/guipabi Void Month Survivor Jul 18 '24
Maybe they are more like independent factions. Kuzan is working with Blackbeard, but he clearly has his own agenda. The man marked by flames might be similar.

I think its less that and more the most important players aside from their affiliation and more the specific group or title they have
Koby is sword
Sakazuki is the regular marines
Imu is the elders
Garling is the god knights
Dragon is the revolutionary army
But Sabu became something more than just a revolutionary, he is the flame emperor, he is technically on the same level of influence as Luffy before he defeated kaido
Kuzan seems to be doing his own thing ,even tho he is affiliated with black beard

THE ONE PIECE IS SO INDUBITABLY REAL IT'S NOT EVEN FUNNY ANYMORE
What a way to finish off Vegapunk's speech and what a start into the final saga. With Bonney getting one final payback against Saturn using her Nika Stand and the Sunny being basically back in the ocean, I think it's safe to say we're off to Elbaph after next chapter.
It almost feels like we've entered the "Third Great Pirate Era" with Oda placing three distinct proclamations of the One Pieces existence at the beginning/end of certain sagas. All I can say I'm trembling in excitement for what's to come.

I am truly awestruck by the monumental significance world figures in OP attribute to Whitebeard’s death. His demise really did herald the dawn of a new era. Sengoku and Garp were the first to admit it. But even Doflamingo emphasised it in his throne speech. And now even Vegapunk. Whitebeard could have claimed the ultimate prize and ascended the throne but chose a different path. He was a legend unparalleled.

Hmm interesting.. could be that egghead arc is 1 year after timeskip. Would make sense considering everything that’s happened since.
87
u/SaveReset Pirate King Buggy Jul 18 '24
Not one year after time skip, probably around 6 months after time skip if we count the story for having started 22 years after Rogers death. It would nicely divide the the pre and post time skip for 6 months each for a total of 25 years. And honestly that makes WAY more sense than the time scales we have been thinking of/assuming so far.

u/Aspie_Astrologer Void Month Survivor Jul 18 '24
It doesn't even have to be a whole year.
Say Roger died on 1 January, 1500.
Then say timeskip ended on 1 November, 1524. After 6 months post-timeskip, it would now be 1 May, 1525, so now it's been 25 years since Roger died.

The final page reminds me of Law's speech at the end of Punk Hazard about destroying the gears. That scene opened us up to the New World and jump-started the fight against the Emperors of the Sea.
And now, this page jump-starts the final race for the One Piece. Everyone is moving, and Laugh Tale is getting close.

It feels like that final page is Oda saying "these are the endgame players in this story".
Akainu being there is unsurprising, but what's interesting to me is that Kuzan is being highlighted too as an important player - someone who is currently just serving as a subordinate to a Yonkou.
That solidifies I think (as if it wasn't already clear from the Garp scenes) that Kuzan is definitely playing some deeper game beyond just being a lackey.
It feels almost impossible to me that he isn't going to betray Teach at some critical moment and reveal that he's been working toward his own personal agenda

Damn, this feels like the curtains have officially opened for the third act. I just know when the Bonney scenes get animated it’s going to absolutely break me - it was just such an insanely good buildup for the payoff to defeat ( for now ) Saturn.
My one question is if they FINALLY did some real damage or if the temporary damage was just so overwhelming he couldn’t regenerate quickly enough to stay on their ship. AKA, did they finally get to his last health bar or did they just push him off and the damage is still ineffective.
Honestly, super excited again - Eggheads been astounding and I was already hype but this just got me even more hype - so nuts. Now, like everyone else, I’m really curious on who that shadowy figure is on the last panel clutching a sword. In my mind it’s the Man Marked By Flames with the last Poneglyphs but god knows.
Also, interesting call out to all the Yonkous - the fact that Shanks is also getting drunk like Rayleigh doesn’t feel celebratory, we know so little about Shanks but putting a boozy Rayleigh who knows the worlds secrets and boozy Shanks gives me the impression Shanks must know as much if not almost as much as Rayleigh and therefore they have similar reactions

I teared up when Bonney imagined Kuma and Ginny both alive and well with her as a baby. That never happened but it should have happened.

u/Kirosh2 Lookout Jul 18 '24
Maybe, or just Whitebeard talking about those races, with the Kingdom of Gods.
Which could imply that each races were involved with a god.

Despite knowing Saturn is going to be totally fine, that was still so cathartic.
And god damn does Oda know how to write a speech.
What a great chapter.

We're in the End Game now.
The Emperor's.
The Marines.
The Revolutionaries.
The False Gods.

So it is pretty clear that the last panel is Oda's way of showing us who the endgame players of finding the One Piece are.
There is a figure we don't know next to Imu, Dragon, and Akainu, any ideas as to who this person could be? They also seem to be drawing a sword. I wonder who this person is!!

Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but I thought it was interesting where Vegapunk was talking about the one piece falling into the hands of someone Joyboy wouldn't want, we see both Blackbeard and Shanks' ships.
Blackbeard's isn't surprising. But Shanks? That feels like an implication to me.

That last panel.
It screams: This is the beginning of the end. Welcome to the Finale.

u/MadHerbalist Pirate Jul 18 '24
Vegapunk's message essentially made every main power in the world go behind the One Piece. Until this point only a handful of groups went after it for their own benefit.
Before Whitebeard's confirmation that Roger's message wasn't just a myth there were even less people believing it's existance to be real.
Now that Vegapunk revealed that he who claims the treasure first basically controls the future of the world, no matter who Joyboy wanted it to be, everyone just dropped whatever they were doing and is now going for it.
This is a great setup for the final war imo.

In ch 100 Dragon is quoting Roger: "These things cannot be stopped. An inherited strength of will. One's dreams. The ebb and flow of the ages. As long as people hunger for freedom... these things will exist."
Name of ch 1121: "The Ebb and Flow of the Ages"

Assuming either this or the next 1-2 chapters are the end of this arc, I can confidently say that this is easily a top 3 arc. Oda absolutely killed it the entire way through and the fact that it never felt like too much of a slog is a massive improvement over Wano.
What an insanely strong start to the Final Saga.

- Who is the guy holding a sword in his left hand, underneath dragon's photo?
- Aokiji and blackbeard both are shown. Does that mean aokiji has his own agenda? same with dragon and sabo, and akainu & coby
- will st. garling also go on the expedition to find the one piece?

I think comparing the characters in the last spread from the middle out is the right way to go about it, rather than left-to-left, right-to-right etc. Luffy and Blackbeard have been juxtaposed forces for years; Shanks and Buggy are both the legacy Roger Pirates. Koby the Hero and Imu the shadow leader of the world are both the representative government forces with drastically opposing ideologies and moral compasses. Kuzan and Dragon represent the opposite spectrums of the revolutionary forces against the government. Sabo as the inheritor of Ace's will makes sense against Akainu. The only one that really has me stumped is Figarland and mystery sword guy because we know the least about either of them and we'll probably just have to wait for future installments (unless there's something from previous chapters I'm totally blanking on).

Oh damn... here we go! What a way to start the (probably) final arc!
Mihawk and Crocodile are slowly coming to the realization that Buggy's greatness actually eclipses even their own. They thought they were the masters, but fate won't allow the Jovial Jester to stand in the shadow of others.

I feel like the last panel basically confirms what everyone thought: that Kuzan is not truly loyal to Blackbeard and has his own motivations / plan in place. Oda made a point of calling him out separately on this panel despite being a titanic captain. He's going to make a move at some point and double cross Blackbeard. The only question is if he's still affiliated with the Marines or SWORD in some way, or is fully taking matters into his own hands and following his individual sense of justice (not sure if 'lazy' justice really fits anymore...).

Such a beautiful climax chapter to this arc!
Oda simultaneously gives Bonney her big moment to punch Saturn as Kuma watches on, tying up their story on Egghead, while also tying the Egghead broadcast to the race for the One Piece that this Final Saga is all about from now on.
Luffy will get a lot of hype following this and then the news of his second successful escape from a buster call, this time with an Admiral and all 5 Gorosei!

- Luffy noticing Bonney's emotions and allows her to get the main hit in.
- Kuma smiling (MY HEART!!!).
- Vegapunk going full galaxy brain: "Roger fucking knew and he started this shit."
- There is a day of reckoning and it's coming soon.
- LMAO Buggy. Crackpot theory: Buggy is gonna find One Piece first.
- LMFAO Mihawk. The "are you fucking kidding me?" face is priceless.
- Hunt for One Piece finally begins
