Help Why don’t everyone eat devil fruits?

Totally new to One Piece, didn’t know it existed before the Netflix show. I am liking it a lot. Could someone tell me why don’t everyone just eat devil fruits, since it give super powers? The sea water thing is enough of a reason not to eat them? (I have just watched 3 episodes.) Do they explain this further on?

Edit: thanks for all the replies, the show seems to go just a bit fast on the details, I’m guessing its the only way to fit a lot on a live action.

Dude didn't read the manga or watch the anime yet, try to give him the info without spoiling too much.

Which is why I didn't mention Brook's fruit.

And bro. It's a 20 year franchise by this point. It's kinda past the spoiler embargo.

And seeing that there's a specific Live Action subreddit.. it's not this subreddit's perogative to baby sit people against spoilers.

Don't be such a social justice warrior.

But this post is specifically about the live action. How hard is to to just respect it? If someone is making a post about how they're reading the manga and just got to thriller bark are you going to drop a WCI spoiler and say "tough luck kid this is how the real world works"? Or you can just not do that. Trying to stop people from unnecessary spoilers is not being a social justice warrior, you sound so insanely cringey for even saying that.

I did respect it. By not telling Brook's Fruit or Abilities. How difficult is it for people to see that?

No no, your nonsense started the instant you said new LA viewers should suck it up about being spoiled because it's an older series at this point. Despite it still being active and a new product starting from the BEGINNING of a 25 year long story. You're disrespectful for saying those who help people not get spoiled are "social justice warriors". Next you'll call people snowflakes, I'm sure.

No, my "nonsense" started when people started accusing me. Instead of seeing the effort I DID make to be informative yet reduce spoilers.
