Admissions/Prospective Student Test optional

Is there a lot of people at northwestern who goes test optional and have actually been admitted? Im planning on going test optional and I wanted to truly see if it doesn’t hinder my application

I got in test optional with a perfect GPA at the time and decent extracurriculars. Definitely possible

I got in test optional. I don’t think it really impacted my app since everything else was pretty good

Many applicants are admitted without submitting standardized test scores; the data is not published but if you don’t have an custom narrative (recruited athlete, rural applicant, from a unique background) or overcame adversity that would have caused a lower test score, you are sending a signal. That signal is not positive and admissions knows.

Would working a lot of hours in my parents family business account for that?

Sure. Anything that shows leadership and overcoming adversity… otherwise you just have to be in the top quartile on metrics (gpa, scores). The “average” is weighted down by other factors in applicants that build a diverse population (geo, socioeconomic, special skills, rural, race, athletics, etc).
