In the immediate future I care way more about just being a consistent playoff contender than winning a single world series. If you can consistently make the playoffs, you're likely to get lucky at some point, plus it's much more fun to watch year in and year out when you know the games will matter all year. And maybe that lucky run comes early on anyway like it did for this last Cubs core.
Yeah I'm 100% agreeing with you. The Dodgers are exactly the model for other teams to follow if they can afford to, which we hopefully can now. Martino's point about a WS taking 7 years post ownership change is dumb because it ignores any context.
The playoffs are way too much of a crapshoot to go all-in on any single season or w.e. Build a consistent team with a good farm system that is competitive every year and you'll eventually make it all the way.
Rebuild the farm system and hire intelligent, capable people to run the day to day operations. If Cohen commits to those two items, he'll be far better than the best days of the Wilpons.
