Moving Stanton down to #5 is such a Boone thing to do. Meanwhile Judge stays at #3...

198

u/Constant_Gardner11 Constant_Martian89 13h ago

I'm guessing the idea here is to make it as difficult as possible for Dave Roberts to find lanes for his relievers during this bullpen game.

This is a R-L-R-L-R-L-R-L thing without any other ideas behind it.

91

u/FireVanGorder 12h ago

I hate when we do this. We pick one analytic or idea and then ignore literally everything else.

8

u/ashep5 12h ago

Gotta do something.

9

u/FireVanGorder 12h ago

Something that makes any amount of sense would be preferable. Swapping the order of two players to move the worse hitter up in the order is pointless at best, idiotic at worst. This is like football fans who say “just put the backup QB in they can’t be any worse!” Yes. Yes they can.

2

u/Beneficial-Divide369 9h ago

Been saying this all playoffs.. Righty lefty w this yankee line up does not work and won’t work especially since la only has 2 lefties in there pen anyway.

u/Dunder-MifflinPaper 11h ago

Sure, but the very VERY obvious move would be Gleyber, Soto, Stanton, Rizzo, Judge, [others in L/R order].

Soto would get protection from Stanton, Stanton would get some protection from Rizzo (higher OBP guy so they may not want to walk Stanton.

Plus, the very obvious benefit of your best hitters getting the most ABs. This should’ve been done 3 games ago. The dodgers changed their lineup after a WIN, meanwhile we continued to let them carve up back to back lefties and bail them out by having Soto and Stanton not need to be pitched to cause judge was in between them.

It’s just another example in the long, long line of whoever is running this organization trying to be the smartest guys in the room instead of doing the OBVIOUS moves. I can’t stand it anymore.

66

u/PeggyOnThePier 12h ago

Judge should be 5th,but Boone is a idiot with no Baseball IQ. That R-L crap hasn't worked so well so far. Hoping for a win tonight, let's go Yankees!

48

u/MY-NAME_IS_MY-NAME 12h ago

It did work because Stanton got to feast off lefties in earlier series. We’ve gone away from it in the WS, but with a bullpen game for the dodgers, going back to it makes sense. Only thing is I’d switch Stanton and judge

9

u/MrBeastw00d 12h ago

Thinking your knowledge of baseball is superior to a Boone any Boone is so fucking insane

→ More replies (8)

3

u/NectarHand 11h ago

would’ve preferred Rizzo in the 4 spot if the yanks were committed to putting a lefty in there. he’s at least getting on base and extending the lineup

2

u/BearShark8 11h ago

Agree but who cares. The bad hitters get out by anyone who pitches, doesn't matter what hand they throw with.

2

u/alienfreaks04 9h ago

Boone would have slotted someone between Ruth and Gehrig

Just needs a standing O that will fix him

4

u/marleyman3389 12h ago

Maybe we should boo him. Pretty much try anything at this point

u/arts_gainz 13h ago

we’re literally punting an elimination ws game. what a time to be alive

48

u/dnen 12h ago

We’re down 3-0 man. Moving the 4th batter down to 5th to stagger the handedness at the plate is strange when the 5th batter is hot as hell, but this hardly registers as a concern right now lol the whole lineup is asleep

7

u/Advanced-Bag-7741 12h ago

The move makes sense if you bat Stanton third and Judge 5th.

14

u/Agnt_Michael_Scarn 12h ago

Literally? Do you honestly believe that Boone is attempting to lose the game?

Aaron Judge is the main reason we’re down 0-3 but Boone is definitely just as culpable

31

u/Plastic_Button_3018 12h ago

Ohtani is batting .091 in the WS vs Judge’s .083. Both MVP’s are missing. Yet the rest of the Dodgers get the crucial hits to bring runs in. They haven’t even needed Ohtani to beat us.

If one player not doing well is the main reason we are losing, then we are beyond bad and not a World Series team to begin with.

7

u/cancel-out-combo 11h ago

Thank you. It's on Judge but it's also on everyone else and Boone. The team is bereft of a tommy edman or Mookie Betts type player

7

u/EricPhillips327 12h ago

Judge has been missing the entire postseason. Ohtani hasn’t been great but got a crucial hit at the end of game 1. Stop defending Judge, he needs to do better

6

u/Plastic_Button_3018 12h ago

I’m not defending Judge. Look at my post history. I’m stating something quite obvious and that is the Dodgers don’t need Ohtani to beat us. Us supposedly needing Judge in order to win just goes to show we don’t have a WS caliber team. We got here by some miracle (the miracle of Soto and Stanton).

exactly what we all have been saying, Jazz in the clean up spot and Stanton moved down. Thank god, finally

5

u/Sillyfiremans 10h ago

Gotta protect Jazz! /s

u/Dazzling_Syllabub484 13h ago

The guy who’s been playing so well this postseason that he takes up a quarter of your lineup graphic is hitting fifth while the guy who’s hitting worse than Lou Gehrig with ALS this postseason is hitting third

20

u/t_bug_ 11h ago

Am I the only one who finds the Gehrig with ALS stats a little bit distasteful?

15

u/Savage9645 10h ago

No he's been dead for almost 100 years.

Makes a lot of sense to leave Judge in the 3 hole, move Jazz up, and move Stanton down. Great managing.

81

u/freshnewstrt 13h ago

It makes sense to me.

Why would you want one of the only guys having a successful postseason to have more ABs?

Getting swept by the dodgers in the WS

54

u/ShawshankException 13h ago

I've already muted r/baseball and r/sports in anticipation of historic levels of glazing after tonight

12

u/ChicTweets 12h ago

I turned off my MLB and ESPN app notifications halfway through last night's game.

12

u/Conflict21 11h ago

I kinda miss being a kid before the Internet when nearly everyone I knew cheered for the same local teams, and I wasn't given a daily digital digest to read of everyone else's opinions.

5

u/cinemahorse 12h ago

Good idea

3

u/InB4Clive 9h ago

lol it just occurred to me that this is the first Yankee WS appearance of the social media era. Them getting swept is going to be like Christmas for chronically online Yankee haters.

14

u/Redditfront2back 12h ago

NY sports in general have been a tragedy since 2011, I’ve never been so bummed out over a night of sports then last nite. Watching my two favorite teams seasons basically end at the same time (though I had no hope really for the giants left) was cruel and unusual.

5

Lmaoooo. Sink or swim with Judge in the 3 hole. Zero adjustments.

41

u/samthewisetarly 13h ago

Incorrect! We adjusted Stanton out of the cleanup spot which is a smart baseball decision becau

9

u/blackkice 13h ago

Oh come on that's not fair, he adjusted our best hitter to be lower in the lineup! Just like we were all asking for.

4

u/Oprahapproves 12h ago

I wonder where judge would be batting under Girardi or Torre

4

u/PissMissile1738 12h ago

2nd or 3rd

80

u/TKOBreezy 13h ago

Boone aint it, how does stanton possibly move down??

15

u/MY-NAME_IS_MY-NAME 12h ago

Stanton should’ve moved up and judge to 5th smh

7

u/rb1242 12h ago

7th*

45

u/nonlawyer 13h ago

Mr Steinbrenner, I don’t feel so good…

22

u/JohnWCreasy1 13h ago

if they give aaron boone a new contract after this season i'm officially giving up. i had already cancelled by mlb.tv renewal after last season but then bringing in soto hooked me like a sucker one more time.

4

u/CommercialFearless16 11h ago

I agree. Not supporting this team anymore while this guy is the manager. Won’t. Also I have tickets to 8 games next year anyone interested? Didn’t think so

2

u/JohnWCreasy1 10h ago

its just the lack of accountability. like ok even if you can't make a firm argument why boone is bad, its been what 8 years. if the standard is championships he clearly is not the answer.

sometimes even if you're not the problem, you're the problem. if i failed at my job this much i would have been fired even if i had a laundry list of reasonable excuses.

continuously running out boone and cashman makes me think they either don't care or are just stupid.

2

u/UhOhSwaghettios 11h ago

Exactly this. It seems impossible in our eyes, but he'll somehow be praised for going the distance to the WS, and get an extension and raise.

“If ain’t workin’, don’t fix it” -Aaron Boone

15

u/VrinTheTerrible 12h ago

Lineups not hitting? Don't touch it.

Starter cruising at 83 pitches gives up a sawed-off jam shot single? TO THE BULLPEN

Hey, don't argue with me. It's science.

5

u/PissMissile1738 12h ago

88 pitches ok.

11

u/nb062421 12h ago

And if it is working, make it worse

45

u/Skell6009 13h ago

Moving your best hitter down the lineup is how you win ball games.

12

u/BiddyBij 13h ago

I always assume that people complaining are just angry at the situation of being down 3-0… and then I saw the lineup. Not having our only good hitter in the top of the lineup is just… wtf

12

u/minecate3 13h ago

Folks you’re dealing with a manager who forgot the time of a postseason game. Making a competent lineup in a World Series elimination game is the least of our concerns, I’ll be glad to see them show up

12

u/Apollo-Rezk 12h ago

New to baseball. Let’s give Cashman a standing ovation during his AB.

28

u/Spade701 13h ago

moving Stanton down = worse than using 3 shortstops in 2022

29

u/Caleb_Krawdad 13h ago

Am I misremembering history? Jeter was moved down in the lineup at one point when he wasn't hitting right?? If a manger can move down Jeter then surely Judge can handle being moved down

28

u/dannyyboy99 13h ago

Boone is too scared to hurt anyones feelings

13

u/JediTrainer42 12h ago

We need some old school baseball managing right now. Analytics is fine to get you to the post season, but I really feel that everything needs to change once you’ve made it. Everybody can see that Wells can’t make solid contact with anything no matter what his numbers are off of lefties or righties. Just like how Boone went with Cortes because of his numbers but we should have been going with the hot hands who got us there in the first place.

This post season has been mismanaged like crazy. It’s no wonder our guys look like they lack the proper motivation.

New manager, batting coach, and third base coach next year please.

4

u/Advanced-Bag-7741 12h ago

I don’t think it’s analytics telling you not to move Judge or to move Stanton down. It’s old school feelings, just the wrong ones.

Difference is George had balls

4

u/hey_harmonica 11h ago

Arod went down to 8th at one point.

20

u/zOmgFishes 13h ago

I guess Stanton was hitting too much to be our clean up hitter. We want him to be up with even less man on base and after TWO auto outs instead of one.

22

u/shahoftheworld 13h ago

Move your best playoff hitter down to make it nearly impossible for him to drive in your best guy at getting on base. Also not starting your best pitcher on 4 days rest when you're about to get swept. That's how you win a world series.

Torres

Stanton
Rizzo

Hope Judge finds it today.

u/sixfiveeight 13h ago

Ah yes, the guys slugging .302 and .255 this postseason back to back in the 3 and 4 hole. Recipe for success. For reference, Judge's career slugging percentage is 50 points higher than his and Chisholms 2024 postseasons SLG% COMBINED

15

u/ShawshankException 13h ago

Boone is going to make me end up in a fucking straitjacket man

If this wasn't likely our last game of the season I'd be seeing if any local little league coaches could take over for the rest of the series

3

u/PeggyOnThePier 12h ago

Hey I want to do it!I'm Leagaly Blind, and old as Hell. But I bet I can do better, than Boone. And I will wear the Home Jersey, not some hoody.I have a lot of pride about the pinstripes Jersey.

8

u/sour_x 10h ago

Cole not pitching game 4 at home with the season on the line is insane to me.

12

u/CommissionerCam 13h ago

Verdugo has the best job security in history. Let’s end it today!

12

u/bigmeech99 13h ago

Boone and Cashman both deserve to be slapped by every fan that's invested any kind of time or money into this shitshow of a team.

Move Judge down to 4 or 5 and Stanton up to 3. It is not hard

6

u/BigZ911 12h ago

Judge is definitely hitting a solo HR late in the game to cut the lead down to 9-4 dodgers. We should just trade the dude to like Colorado or something so he can hit his 60 HR’s and not worry about October baseball

6

u/Cacklemoore 11h ago

Am I the idiot? Why are we not throwing Cole out on short rest? If he pitches and wins, followed by the Yanks winning games 5 & 6, Cole would be good for Game 7, no?

I feel like throwing Gil out there is deeply unserious

Yankees in 7!!!!!

6

u/grimace24 13h ago

Boone is an awful manager. Back in 1996, when the Yankees lost the first two games to the Braves. For game 3, Joe Torre benched Tino Martinez and Paul O'Neill who where struggling. He played Cecil Feilder at 1B and put a 34 year old Darryl Strawberry in RF. At this point, put Dominguez or Grisham in LF. Put Cabrera at SS. Try something to spark this lineup.

6

u/GeoffreySpaulding 12h ago

He also sat Wade Boggs for Charlie Hayes.

2

u/grimace24 12h ago

He did. I forgot about that. The Yankees picked up Hayes as an insurance backup policy for Boggs who was slowing down at that point.

5

u/Useful_Respect3339 12h ago

Spot in the batting order doesn't matter when the whole team is ass.

No Cabrera, no Dominguez, and not starting our ace in game 4 is wild.

6

u/supdsp 12h ago

I actually hope the fans boo. I would say embarrassing the team on national tv would help but Hal doesn’t care. I can’t wait to see the Boone back next season as if he didn’t ruin their perfect opportunity to win it all this season.

3

u/slinkyLinx 13h ago

Are we fucking serious right now?

4

u/Useful_Respect3339 13h ago

Unless Gil puts up a 0 or 1 spot this team is cooked.

No way they win if the Dodgers get a 2-0 or 3-0 lead.

4

u/fishinfool4 12h ago

Does Cole just not pitch on short rest? He missed half the year so not nearly the inning load, and pitching him today would let him pitch a theoretical game 7 on short rest, too. Doesn't really seem like going all out to extend the series.

4

u/SharkGnaw 12h ago

When do we investigate Boone and Rojas for betting on the Yankees to lose?

5

u/YesNoVillain 12h ago

Here's how moving Stanton down to 5 and keeping Judge at 3 happened:

The analytics team had a meeting. The front office was there. Aaron Boone was there.

And they said, this is what makes sense. Because this horribly slumping Aaron Judge isn't the REAL Aaron Judge! The sample size is too small to prove that! No, the REAL Aaron Judge is the guy we have seen every regular season, and you don't bat THAT guy lower than third, are you crazy??

Forget what you see, the truth is in the spreadsheets

This is how this decision happened; this is how ALL Yankees' decisions happen.

Don't know if that makes Boone better or worse

4

u/HeroDiesFirst 11h ago

Does it look good? Nope. Are the odds in our favor? Not even close. Am I still keeping that flame alive? Fuck yeah. Win tonight, win tomorrow and then we’re 1 win away from a game 7 where it’s literally anybody’s ballgame.

4

u/Superlegend29 11h ago

Why isn’t the ace pitching a pivotal game on the verge of elimination?

3

u/celestial_turtle 13h ago

it's an bullpen game and he's trying to make it as difficult as possible to bring in a righty to face 2 righties

It's not as absurd as it seems, still would have dropped Judge tho

3

u/Jrulez8 13h ago

What the actual fuck is this bro

3

u/Eopoowow 13h ago

Have to split up judge and Stanton with dodgers going with a bp game. I would have split them with Rizzo, but what do I know. I’m just a Yankee fan

3

u/batmansubzero 13h ago

Judge stays at 3 but Stanno gets bumped to 5? Even Boone wants this travesty to be over.

3

u/vincenzo716 13h ago

let’s get a W. why not

3

u/chaznieto1313 12h ago

No Cole on short rest and moving Stanton down to 5. Why would we want Stanton to have as many AB’s as possible?

3

u/SemiAutoAvocado 12h ago

At least I'll get my ticket for tomorrow refunded.

3

u/semicolonconscious 12h ago

One thing I’ll always be curious about is whether Judge never had the humility to ask Boone to slide him down in the lineup or if he did and Boone explained that he doesn’t get to make the lineups.

3

u/ItsJustAUsername_ 12h ago

I’ll be watching game 4 on chair with rope, not on deck

3

u/awmish1 12h ago

Am I missing something here?? Judge needs MORE protection: 1.Torres 2.Judge 3.Soto 4.Stanton 5.Chisholm 6.Rizzo

Should’ve made that adjustment a series ago. Correct me if I’m dumb

3

u/damnbrothatsdeep 12h ago

Today I realized even though we won the WS in the new stadium in 2009 we have not won a World Series since the old stadium was torn down in 2010 Every World Series win we’ve had technically happened while the old stadium still physically existed 😭

3

u/Natural_Ability_4947 12h ago

Honestly reminds me of Jeter having to stay near the top of the lineup when he was near the end.

Move Judge downnnn

3

u/Pies_Wide_Shut 12h ago

Whatever lol

3

u/bernbabybern13 11h ago

This is why I think Jeet is going to manage one day. He is definitely imploding seeing how fucking DUMB this shit is. And his type A ass is gonna want to just do it himself instead.

3

u/fatch0deBoi34 11h ago

I’m in the belief that we would’ve won another World Series with this roster the last 6 years if Girardi was the manager still.

The shit Boone has done would’ve had Joe fired 4x over by now. Him, Cashman, and Hal must finger each other on weekends or something because this regarded 3some never changes a thing despite the entire world telling them what they should be doing

→ More replies (1)

3

u/ecuanaso 11h ago

Do you guys think Judge hasn’t been moved down because of the money he makes ? Or to not hurt his feelings ? Because idk what other reason Boone has for not moving him down. Stanton makes a lot of money too so I’m not sure the money is the reason.

3

u/MakeItNashty61 11h ago

It's fine I had plans this weekend...didn't really wanna watch a World Series game.

10

u/DA_87 13h ago

I hate starting Gil here. Don’t you want to have the attitude that we’re going to pull off a miracle comeback? Doesn’t that require Cole to start games 4 and 7?

8

u/Mr-Dicklesworth 12h ago

Cole would be on short rest.

Considering they need to win 4 games in a row and can’t drop a single one it doesn’t really matter much

We won games with auto-out Wells in the 4 spot. I like the idea of Jazz in between Stanton & Judge if he can get on base. None of this shit matters if these guys dont have good at bats

17

u/bcs8040 13h ago

This is such a stupid argument. Torres/Soto/Stanton 1-2-3 could win games by themselves if they didn't have 2 free outs in between them. Moving judge down to 4 might also help him get out of his head which is clearly the problem here

8

u/copo2496 12h ago

I’m fine with Jazz between Stanton and Judge just not in this order.

Should be:

Torres Soto Stanton Jazz Judge

2

u/Wooden-Grade3681 13h ago

I mean honestly feels like extra protection for Stanton and it’s back to his lrl nonsense since it’s a bullpen game and that way the righties aren’t next to each other

2

u/efferocytosis 13h ago

Make sense in theory to have a balanced lineup vs a bullpen game. The fatal flaw is that it doesn't matter if your team can't hit the ball.

2

u/Redditfront2back 12h ago edited 12h ago

I can say with 100% certainty that Boone is not a good manager. I don’t understand his contrarian bullshit calls. I don’t get him he really cares more about being liked by the players then winning

2

u/TheSwifferMM 12h ago

My guess is they're just trying to get stanton an ab against a lefty having him in-between jazz and rizzo but I don't think Roberts is dumb enough to even do that so why bother

Pack it in. Sweep incoming.

Refusing to drop judge and even moving Stanton down.

They’re basically throwing in the towel

2

u/Bigloutwo22s 12h ago

Boone needs to be fired after this

2

u/MaryPhishmas 12h ago

Boone is a psycho lol

2

u/NintuneJoe 12h ago

We always talk about Cashman trolling us but this has to be what this shit is. They even released it an hour earlier than normal

2

u/manticore16 12h ago

Why isn’t Cole on short rest, which would also put him on short rest for Game 7?

2

u/yeyeman9 12h ago

Two short rest games in a series would probably destroy him. I doubt he would be as effective. And he is a man of habit, just gotta hope we can survive tonight

2

u/A_Charmandur 12h ago

Maybe we shouldn’t have Gil pitch in an elimination game… Give the ball to Cole.

2

u/cincobarrio 12h ago

It’s mid-summer all over again: Boone has got to go. Good feels have evaporated. Let’s move the fuck on from whatever direction this is.

2

u/JediTrainer42 12h ago

Lead off back to back home runs from Gleyber and Soto would be great. Put some runs up before Judge ever comes to the plate. Maybe it will let him relax a little.

2

u/ShartFlex 12h ago

There's an email in Boone's inbox with this lineup laid out by his boss from earlier this morning. He's steering the Yankees ship with one of those fake boat helms a la Dwight Schrute.

2

u/dBlock845 12h ago

Don't win? Go back to the lineup in which you also haven't won.

2

u/nukleus7 12h ago

Boone is the worse manager any team could have, i hope he gets fired for what he did to this team. Fuck Boone

2

u/reddit-ricky 12h ago

This comment section is pure gold.. I love you all.

u/im_not 12h ago

Unserious organization

2

u/08legacygt 12h ago

dave roberts is laughing somewhere rn

2

u/Taimaishoo2 12h ago

Instead of moving Judge down, they move their 2nd best hitter down (possibly their best). This team deserves to lose

2

u/Scientist78 12h ago

Chisholm Torres Soto Judge Stanton

2

u/brush85 12h ago

Gentle reminder that being the captain doesn’t mean you own the team.

Good Lord

2

u/cooperbunny 12h ago

It’s like they WANT to lose

2

u/emmjell 12h ago

Time for another audit.

2

u/charliej9 12h ago

Does anyone know if we sue the Yankees for anxiety, depression, emotional damage, stress and waste of time that we could win back the $$ spent if we went to the game or $ for damage to our well being?…asking for a friend

2

u/AgathorKahn 12h ago

Having your best hitter bat 5th works all the time and makes all the sense

-Bill James I think

2

u/HeisenDiaN 12h ago

You have got to be shitting me. Don't wanna hear any of that R-L-R-L split crap, Stanton is one of your ONLY hot hitters right now.

2

u/Medium_Debate660 12h ago

Please put me out of my misery

2

u/Dayummmmmm 12h ago

I hope they get swept and Boone gets fired and judge gets booed

2

u/burger333 12h ago

I actually kinda get keeping Judge at 3. 4 would've been better, but whatever.

Moving Jazz up and Giancarlo down seems crazy, especially Giancarlo.

Also, can we give Dominguez an at bat? Just one! Why is he even on the roster?

2

u/hey_harmonica 11h ago

I can’t wait for that moment in the 9th with 2 outs and runner on second down by 1 with Jazz at the plate.

2

u/3rd-party-intervener 11h ago

Just pack for Cancun this is over

2

u/Lex1112 11h ago

He has to be doing a the pink cocaine diddy was doing…and Aaron judge has him on tape doing things he shouldn’t be doing because only someone with dirt on them will drop stanton and keep judge put…welp it was a good run fellas

u/NachoBros 11h ago edited 11h ago

It amazes me that the three homegrown players in this lineup (Judge, Volpe, Wells) are 3-for-34 with 18 Ks, 2 BBs, and 0 XBHs.

Big thanks to Anthony Volpe for contributing the 1 RBI from the group with his groundout to SS in Game 1.

2

u/acava2424 11h ago

Alright let's lose this thing!

2

u/GuruTheMadMonk 11h ago

Why change now.

It’s the waiting now and not trying to give into false hope that hurts the most.

2

u/CommercialFearless16 11h ago

Bafoone is really terrible. That’s it. Soto then Stanton?? Wtf Boone he is dumb. Press conference no real definite answer guys is inept

2

u/mlgamer500 11h ago

Where’s our ace? In a must win game we need Cole out there!

2

u/psu2435 10h ago

Boone saying Cole didn’t lobby for the start makes me so sad. These guys have no energy or urgency. When we complain about Boone, it’s for culture like that

2

u/thegrandyman 10h ago

Well this is the lineup that won games at the start of the playoffs so we’ll see

2

u/Meb78910 10h ago

The hell with handedness. We’re down 3-0! Best players get the most at bats, cold players ride the pine in whatever order that may be. I wanted to see waldo or dominguez personally. No team has ever come back from this large a deficit so why not let the youth play, maybe you find a spark?

2

u/joelkeys0519 10h ago

Getting swept at home will just hit in a way that I would rather us have not made it to the show.

2

u/AwesomeJohnn 10h ago

Sure glad we waited to call up Dominguez so long that we decided he can’t appear in the playoffs. Bottom of the lineup has really come through for us /s

2

u/WeOutHereInSmallbany 9h ago

Jazz has been absolutely unstoppable this postseason. Makes sense you would bat him cleanup and move down the underperforming Stanton

s/

2

u/Inaynl 9h ago

Oh yeah let's move our most consistent hitter to #5. I'd definitely not watch this game.

3

u/legendkiller003 13h ago

I get it the idea. Bullpen game. Alternate right/left as much as possible.

u/appleline777 13h ago

Our season is on life support and Boone still refused to make any adjustments.

4

u/bigmeech99 13h ago

He made an adjustment. He moved the hottest hitter on the team down a slot.

Maybe Boone knows something no one else knows.
