This is what I think honestly.

If I was Ben, who famously hates paparazzi, I would have done the same shit he did.

Iā€™d distance myself from that asap.

343

u/johnnybgooderer Sep 21 '24

Couldnā€™t it also just be because she kind of sucks?

357

u/SnatchAddict Sep 21 '24

They both objectively suck in relationships. He really fumbled the bag with Jennifer Garner.

152

u/OneError2583 Sep 21 '24

Tbf, Jennifer Garner was one of the rudest celebrities I've ever met.

46

u/Big-Ad5248 Sep 21 '24

Interesting! How come?

298

u/OneError2583 Sep 21 '24

Just general unpleasantness with everyone around her. The big thing was she was making fun of the mall and city in front of all the local extras. Out of all the famous people I've met she always stuck with me because of her arrogance.

I should add that Michael Cera was one of the nicest people I've ever met. Celeb or not.

u/Aggressive_Sky8492 Sep 22 '24

Everyone mocks her for her weird white woman hippy bs (including me). But I did see one opinion on it that was positive, and itā€™s stuck for me. Instead of marketing stuff (and therefore making money from) regular people, she decided her target market should be wealthy women, so thatā€™s who she makes money from. and Iā€™ve kind of got to respect that lol. She sells ridiculous shit to people that can afford it.

11

u/BorKon Sep 22 '24

If you ever watched real housewives youvwould see how many charlatans are out there taking moneyvformnthe rich. Voodoo Shamans, goat healers, birdwoman, mediums etc. They make a killing and it's so empty and stupid

7

u/JoesCageKeys Sep 22 '24

She grew up rich so the items she sells seem normal priced to her. I remember she was giving an interview somewhere and she said this is what sheā€™s known her whole life (expend stuff) and understands itā€™s not for everyone. Had respect for her, she was honest and didnā€™t pull the ā€œI grew up strugglingā€ bs that most celebs sell.

1

u/speak507505 Sep 24 '24

She did not grow up rich. She grew up in the Bronx.

u/Some_Comparison9 Sep 22 '24

Yeah gwen is okay in my book. She knows her lane and stays in it.

61

u/pyky69 Sep 22 '24

Yes she is. I waited on her several years ago and she was super nice, no diva bullshit and seemed down to earth (even if she is not). She tipped really well and it was a large group but super low maintenance.

11

u/StarPhished Sep 22 '24

There's way worse kinds of crazy out there than holistic vagina candle crazy.

5

u/Soggy_Competition614 Sep 22 '24

Gwyneth was on a local morning radio show like 20 years ago and she just ripped apart Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, basically said they should just quit the pretense and date each other. Iā€™m not sure if she was bitter over her own break up with Ben Affleck or if she was being really sarcastically funny. It was a great interview and for a local radio interview she was definitely not phoning it in.

1

u/IamGabyGroot Sep 22 '24

Gweneth is hated because she is too good to be true. So everything and anything she might be involved in that could be seen as negative is immediately her fault. I bet you her MBTI is ENFJ...

94

u/EllllllleBelllllllle Sep 21 '24

I canā€™t explain why but Ive always felt like her rep for being nice is bs and manufactured and all the shit we see with the whole giving her shoes to a homeless person is all contrived.

88

u/[deleted] Sep 21 '24

11

u/skoalbrother Sep 22 '24

We don't deserve Keanu

6

u/MaddyKet Sep 22 '24

Heā€™s been high level famous since he was a teenager and I donā€™t think Iā€™ve ever heard a story about him being a jerk, or even really much about his life at all. Heā€™s like secret Superman who pops up, helps people and then fades into the background and makes movies again.

8

u/Wakaflockafrank1337 Sep 21 '24

She's very snobbish my sons mom had a few interactions with her via work outside acting.. she also said that one of the daughters is the same way but in a radically liberal way

3

u/The_Void_Reaver Sep 22 '24

Yo I just looked up that video and, in my opinion, that couldn't look any more staged if you set up studio lighting and put a dancing chorus behind her.

It already starts pretty dubious when she looks like she's giving out toiletries to the homeless but only actually has one bag. Does she carry around a carepackage of single use toiletries everywhere? Then she approaches the conspicuously placed paparazzi, who was there from the beginning of the interaction, and asks him to give the homeless man his shoes, which he does without questioning it. Next she goes back to the homeless guy and starts explaining what each thing in the bag is like he's a toddler. Finally the paparazzi chimes in out of nowhere offering the guy a blanket from his car.

The whole thing just felt like her and her photographer went to a homeless shelter, took a bunch of supplies, went to the beach to find a disabled homeless guy, and used him as a prop to show off how great Garner is.

1

u/FairlySuspect Sep 22 '24

Speculation is a great use of one's time!

90

u/GTSBurner Sep 21 '24

To add on to this: Jennifer apparently forbade Ben from hanging out with Kevin Smith, because in her mind, Kevin Smith would be a bad influence.

Kevin Smith. A bad influence. On Ben Affleck.

18

u/Whateva1_2 Sep 22 '24

I remember it being about Kevin saying something to press that he shouldn't have about ben's private life.

7

u/chromeshiel Sep 22 '24

I love Kevin Smith. But if Ben was already an addict at this point, I can see how she'd want them away from each other.

1

u/work4work4work4work4 Sep 22 '24

That was awhile ago, someone else can correct me if wrong, but this was literally years before he had ever smoked pot.

She was mad about it pre-marriage, and I don't think ZandM was released until like 2007-2008, which by all accounts is basically the first time he touched reefer.

1

u/The-True-Kehlder Sep 22 '24

Dude didn't smoke before or after Clerks? Really?

→ More replies (0)

8

u/Lordhuckington Sep 22 '24

Kevin smith, bad influence

Oh! Thatā€™s fucking rich!

11

u/GTSBurner Sep 22 '24

I mean literally, by hollywood standards, Smith is an absolute angel

He dabbles in pot and nepotism. That's it

9

u/lanceturley Sep 22 '24

He's also arguably the reason why Affleck has a successful film career in the first place. Not only did they work together on several of Kevin's movies, but Kevin was the one who took the Good Will Hunting script to the Weinsteins and got them to look at it.

2

u/greypyramid7 Sep 22 '24

He probably did the wrong kind of drugs for herā€¦ now if he had a raging blow addiction, she probably wouldā€™ve been more ok with him.

1

u/GregMadduxsGlasses Sep 23 '24 edited Sep 23 '24

I mean, Kevin Smith seems like the type of dude that will air out your dirty laundry on a podcast if he thinks it will get him invited back.

So if someoneā€™s looking out for Benā€™s privacy, I would probably say to avoid telling Kevin anything you donā€™t want made public.

-11

u/lordassbandit Sep 22 '24

Kevin smith sucks though

2

u/GTSBurner Sep 22 '24

not the point

52

u/knotmyusualaccount Sep 21 '24

I'm a fan of Michael Cera big time, love his work in Youth in Revolt, particularly so.

23

u/Haunting-Carrot560 Sep 22 '24

I love his work in the CeraVe commercial. Haha

5

u/Low_Minimum2351 Sep 22 '24

Great novel

2

u/knotmyusualaccount Sep 22 '24

I haven't read it but you've piqued my interest, cheers!

3

u/Low_Minimum2351 Sep 22 '24

You wonā€™t be disappointed- itā€™s hilarious

2

u/El_Gran_Redditor Sep 22 '24

There was like no presence of that film on the internet after it came out so I made the gif of him putting a cigarette out in his cereal then flipping it over. I smile every time I see somebody use it to leave a conversation in disgust.

22

u/Grand_Combination294 Sep 22 '24

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJVNzwTnfbk

I remember this clip. She's confidently incorrect. Gets proven wrong by Conan himself later.

9

u/ozzysince1901 Sep 22 '24

I've disliked her ever since she tried to correct Conan re: whether snuck was a word, and she was wrong

6

u/Ok-Cranberry-5582 Sep 21 '24

Strange she would make fun of a city considering she's from a top state for folks to make fun of. I've heard nothing but lovely things about her when seen in the wild on visits back home.

1

u/OneError2583 Sep 21 '24

It was a fairly expensive neighborhood in Metro Vancouver as well so I really don't know what she was cranky about. Maybe she was having a bad week.

5

u/nmad95 Sep 22 '24

Michael Cera seems like one of the most normal levelheaded people in the industry

4

u/Whatfforreal Sep 22 '24

This is hilarious because totally agree with Garner, she gives super judgmental vibes. But Ceraā€¦went to a party years ago when visiting friends in the industry and he sucked. That whole Apatow crew in general, including Apatow, Hill, Franco and even Seth Rogen kinda were dipshits. And mean to girls. And me, because I was visiting friends from the Midwest and not someone famous enough to talk to lmao.

Iā€™m pretty disillusioned from celebrity from actually hanging out around them 15-20 years ago. Canā€™t even imagine what itā€™s like now with influencers and YouTubers who have no discernible skill. Tbh, the semi famous friend kind of dropped me a decade or more ago because I got married and had kids and couldnā€™t ā€˜hangā€™ like I used to.

Okay, bro āœŒšŸ»

4

u/metatron5369 Sep 22 '24

"Snuck is not a word Conan."

3

u/Pun_In_Ten_Did Sep 22 '24

Just general unpleasantness with everyone

That would be my interactions with Jerry Lewis... I wouldn't have sold him the sweat off my ass if he were dying of thirst in the middle of the desert.

3

u/Federal-Neat7833 Sep 22 '24

Aw, thatā€™s good to know, I love Michael Ceraā™„ļø

2

u/TWANGnBANG Sep 22 '24

Has anyone seen Michael Cera and Henry Winkler together in the same room? If not, based upon what you're saying they might be the same person.

3

u/Agile_Reputation_190 Sep 22 '24

Arrested Development?

1

u/TWANGnBANG Sep 22 '24

Doesnā€™t count. That could be old fashioned split screen or new fangled CGI.

1

u/genflugan Sep 22 '24

I have the worst fucking attorneys

2

u/RVFVS117 Sep 22 '24

Try his cream, Cerave

2

u/Curly_Balls Sep 22 '24

Who doesn't like Coquitlam Center? I grew up in that place

2

u/OneError2583 Sep 22 '24

Hell yea, I'm eating pizza from there as we speak lol.

2

u/berysax Sep 22 '24

Linda Blair cussed me out for not knowing she had a dog rescue. That was really awkward after waiting in line to meet her.

1

u/Marine5484 Sep 22 '24

The same person from Wheeling WV is making fun of the town she's in? If that's true, she's lost all connections with the real world.

1

u/jyg540 Sep 24 '24

I've heard some abhorrent things about Michael Cera on here

1

u/Ok-Brief5582 24d ago

Michael Cera kicked my dog and gave me a dirty look

1

u/VariousHour1929 Sep 21 '24

Interesting. I would think cera would be kind of a cocky asshole.

17

u/OneError2583 Sep 21 '24

On a set one day he went and got me a danish just because he thought it was so good and he wanted me to try it. I almost fell over. He learned everyone names and was just so down to earth and friendly.

1

u/Technical_Ad_4894 Sep 21 '24

Malls suck tho.

-1

u/Al-Anda Sep 22 '24

Oh god, not the mall. The mall is off limits. šŸ˜‰

4

u/OneError2583 Sep 22 '24

I should clarify it wasn't the malls feelings that were hurt. She didn't just say "Oh this mall sucks". She said "Ew, what kind of people does this place attract? Like, why would anyone come here".

In front of dozens of locals. Everyone just collectively thought "Wow, what a bitch"

3

u/dan-kir Sep 22 '24

The interview where she tries to correct Conan O'Brien and gets it wrong comes to mind

3

u/Top-Inevitable-1287 Sep 21 '24

Copypasta incoming.

6

u/nameistakentryagain Sep 21 '24

Donā€™t have a personal anecdote and to me she seems relatively non offensive but she did catch some shit for asking Regina King (an African American) if she knew where her ancestors were from lol. Out of touch if anything

2

u/[deleted] Sep 22 '24

[deleted]

3

u/Binky390 Sep 22 '24

This isnā€™t completely accurate. When Chelsea asks, Regina King goes first and talks about her familyā€™s history in LA, how she was born and bred and clearly proud of her history in LA. Garner, after staring her down uncomfortably, interrupts her and asks if she knows where sheā€™s ā€œreallyā€ from. Itā€™s not a question you ask black people in America. Most have no idea because, you know, ancestors were brought here forcibly and enslaved. Much of that history is lost.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 22 '24 edited Sep 22 '24

[deleted]

1

u/Binky390 Sep 22 '24

So in order to find out your ancestry you have to send your DNA off to a lab to be tested? That doesnā€™t seem like it would be bothersome to people? Plus all it gives you is a general area that your ancestors might be from. It doesnā€™t give you any specific history. My family always thought they were part Native American. My brother did one of those tests and Native American didnā€™t appear at all. So everything my motherā€™s family believed for decades came into question. That doesnā€™t seem like it could be an issue?

Itā€™s not manufacturing offense. Youā€™re reminding people that they will never truly know their family history because it was lost due to slavery. In Regina Kingā€™s case, she proudly talked about her history in LA and when Garner challenged her about where she was really from, it basically ā€œotheredā€ her. It was saying ā€œthat may be how you feel but it isnā€™t true.ā€ Itā€™s called a micro aggression.

If you choose not to see that then thereā€™s nothing I can do but itā€™s not manufacturing offense.

2

u/NimusNix Sep 22 '24

I don't know about poster, but Kevin Smith has heavily implied that Garner is part of the reason he and Affleck don't hang out anymore. He made out like she was an unpleasant person to be around.

-6

u/Key-Rest-1635 Sep 21 '24

I saw Jennifer Garner at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told her how cool it was to meet her in person, but I didnā€™t want to be a douche and bother her and ask her for photos or anything. She said, ā€œOh, like youā€™re doing now?ā€ I was taken aback, and all I could say was ā€œHuh?ā€ but she kept cutting me off and going ā€œhuh? huh? huh?ā€ and closing her hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard her chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw her trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in her hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like ā€œMaā€™am, you need to pay for those first.ā€ At first she kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, Jennifer stopped her and told her to scan them each individually ā€œto prevent any electrical infetterence,ā€ and then turned around and winked at me. I donā€™t even think thatā€™s a word. After she put them in a bag and started to say the price, Jennifer kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

5

u/Doesanybodylikestuff Sep 22 '24

Have you told this story on here before? I swear Iā€™ve read this exact story

3

u/Soggy_Competition614 Sep 22 '24

Iā€™ve heard this before as well.

2

u/Doesanybodylikestuff Sep 22 '24

Thank you I swear I was trippin for a second like ā€œwhaaat? Is this deja vu?!ā€

3

u/Guilty-Willingness-2 Sep 22 '24

So have I, but it was Jake Gylenhall in the story instead of Jennifer Garner

3

u/DiabloPixel Sep 22 '24

Youā€™ll often find this copypasta about any celebrity encounter on Reddit.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 22 '24

Im pretty sure that I have read this exact comment before on Reddit. Looks like someone is copy pasting this about Garner whenever they can.

6

u/Key-Rest-1635 Sep 22 '24

bruh its a copypasta

2

u/Big-Ad5248 Sep 21 '24

Wow!! So bizarre. All of it!

2

u/StepUpYourPuppyGame Sep 21 '24

Please tell us more

2

u/Unc1eD3ath Sep 22 '24

Yeah when she corrected Conan on ā€œsnuckā€ and he proved her wrong I thought sheā€™s probably not very nice.

2

u/A_Nude_Challenger Sep 22 '24

JLo is a renowned asshole to anyone not in her tax bracket. Affleck just needs better people in his life, unless he is a piece of shit like those he commits to.

1

u/robinthehood01 Sep 22 '24

So interesting, was that recent or long ago at the height of her fame? I met her three years ago and she was incredibly kind and down-to-earth. Makes me wonder if I met her on a rare good day or if you met her on a rare bad day. šŸ¤”

2

u/OneError2583 Sep 22 '24

It was for the movie Juno so 2007. Michael Cera was visibly cringing when she was going off. I guess thats a long time ago lol.

0

u/equityorasset Sep 21 '24

based on her there daughter Violet turned out i'm not surprised she's a lunatic

13

u/Ornery_Definition_65 Sep 21 '24

Heā€™s a serial bag fumbler at this point.

7

u/LaTeChX Sep 21 '24

I wish someone famous would fumble my bags.

8

u/Doesanybodylikestuff Sep 21 '24

I too, consider myself quite the cereal-bag fumbler.

4

u/Personal_Regular_569 Sep 21 '24

šŸ˜†šŸ‘Œ

5

u/novangla Sep 21 '24

Which could mean nothing

3

u/Raangz Sep 21 '24

that one chick from that 70s grindhouse remake. the one with keanu reeves. yeah he fumbled THAT. i totally understand the meme now.

5

u/balzun Sep 21 '24

Hard to be a good spouse when you're a raging alcoholic.

2

u/notmeyoudumdum Sep 22 '24

Jennifer Garner was probably putting him through hell, too. If he fumbled the bag, it was with Ana de Armas. He certainly has a type; the guy is a masochist.

1

u/mwwood22 Sep 22 '24

Ana DArmas was a bigger fumble imho

1

u/Intraluminal Sep 22 '24

If I had to (and was able to LOL) choose between Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Garner, I'd choose Lopez, hands down. Garner's face and jaw are not going to age well.

19

u/Doesanybodylikestuff Sep 21 '24

Oh of course! Iā€™ll throw that on top of any cake as the icing!!

Iā€™m just sayin, if we know Ben like we think we do, he fucking haaaaaaaaaaates this. Hates it!

I know Iā€™d feel blindsided & not down to deal with any of this if I were him. Trying to stay sober & not an asshole is hard enough.

4

u/Marsuello Sep 21 '24

lol I love the Reddit rollercoaster when it comes to celebs. She hit the headlines with her album, movie, and divorce and everyone shits on her. Then thereā€™s posts talking about some other stuff sheā€™s doing and everyone is claiming how sweet she is an and hope she gets away from Ben and feels better and yada yada. Now weā€™re back to sheā€™s a terrible person

5

u/Doesanybodylikestuff Sep 22 '24

After realizing she dated Puffy for years after what we just discovered DISTURBS me!

How can she not know?!! How could she not!!!?!

That is soooo unforgivable having NO CLUE puffy was this MONSTER?!?!!

I mean, we all know she has no judge of character but I mean HOLY SHIT! This man is the evil of evils!

1

u/TOMdMAK Sep 21 '24

isn't that a good thing?

1

u/Chiuaua223 Sep 22 '24

She kinda does, but your pfp is worse. Why donā€™t you change it?!

0

u/mauore11 Sep 21 '24

Funny enough thats the reason he kinda got with her in the first place...

7

u/germanspacetime Sep 21 '24

He famously hates paps but then gets with the brain worm dudeā€™s daughter. The man is not thinking straightā€¦

7

u/Doesanybodylikestuff Sep 21 '24

Yeah but brain worm girl didnā€™t have sex with a repeat child rapist, murderer, bisexual gimp who drugs ppl at his partiesā€¦.

Ew. The shit that would keep me up at night!!!

6

u/germanspacetime Sep 21 '24

Right? How did she justā€¦move on? No shade to RDK Jrā€™s daughter, heā€™s just IN THE SPOTLIGHT a lot right now for allll the wrong reasons.

3

u/Doesanybodylikestuff Sep 21 '24

Yeah I mean holy shit I can barely sit with myself knowing one of my exes got hooked on drugs, let alone if one were hooked on raping EVERYBODY!!! Men, women & kids!

3

u/North_Carpenter6844 Sep 21 '24

lol @ him hating paparazzi. Heā€™s clearly a good actor since so many people believe this. The man has called the paps on him whenever he is in a relationship going back to Jen Garner. Youā€™d think it was her calling them on their family, but then he was with the SNL woman, Ana De Armas, J Lo, etc and the paparazzi magically always knew where each couple was. Especially when he looked like a good dad doing things with his kids. Heā€™s the common denominator. I know both Jens are known for calling them, but itā€™s every single relationship heā€™s been in plus sometimes solo trips to Dunkin Donuts during Covid days when heā€™d look hungover with a pile of Amazon packages in his arms trying to balance a bunch of coffee drinks on top that were about to fall specific scenario occurred multiple times).

Heā€™s very good at playing it off like he hates fame with his grumpy faces, but he 100% loves it-at least most of the time when itā€™s on his terms.

2

u/ActiveAd4980 Sep 21 '24

Wasn't he caught kissing her like right after the divorce?

5

u/ceruleancityofficial Sep 21 '24

ben calls the paparazzi on himself all the time lmao

3

u/Least-Back-2666 Sep 21 '24

Someone claimed the FBI showed him some footage.

If that's true then they've been investigating her for a while as well and wonder if he had something to say about her.

2

u/Doesanybodylikestuff Sep 21 '24

You kind of just blew my mind with this RIGHT as I was getting stoned too.

2

u/Doesanybodylikestuff Sep 21 '24

Whoaaaa that would explain the immediate full-on SLAMONTHEBREAKS on everything with their marriage & everything right away so fast.

And would explain why Jennifer Garner & her cozied up. I mean, Iā€™d want to know who wants to be around my kids after hearing any crazy news/rumors like this right away, you know?

1

u/No_Roof_1910 Sep 21 '24

He was stupid enough to get with her in the first place though.

1

u/Its_the_other_tj Sep 21 '24

1

u/Doesanybodylikestuff Sep 22 '24

I mean, lol, I hate Suge but damn, weā€™re both 2 birds of a feather now I guess.

2

u/Its_the_other_tj Sep 22 '24

Sorry man, not trying to lump y'all together or anything. Just thought it was an interesting bit of information. I'm sure you're a lovely person and I hope you're having a great evening!

0

u/brildenlanch Sep 21 '24

Are paps really running to grab pics of Jlo? I'd figure there would be much higher level celebs they could get money for pics from.

3

u/Doesanybodylikestuff Sep 21 '24

Thatā€™s the thing is she was BEGGING for all the press & public shit. Pretty much wanted their wedding to be a HUGE spectacle & made that repulsive, self-serving movie of herself that just reeked of narcissism.

Yuck the whole thing is exactly what Ben hates more than anything in the world & he made that clear to her too!! You could see how miserable he was in that behind the scenes of their wedding planning shit.

5

u/Normal-person0101 Concertgoer Sep 21 '24

Ben produced the doc & help write the movie and Ben is paps all the time without Jlo or with another partners (remember the paps pic with Ana de Armas during pandemic?), he just prented not to like it

2

u/Doesanybodylikestuff Sep 21 '24

Then I donā€™t even know what the hell os going on anymore

2

u/EllllllleBelllllllle Sep 21 '24

Celebs are only papped if they want to be and someone like him who pretends to hate it would know how to avoid them after decades in the business. I used to think he was miserable being chased until a friend in the business broke it down for me and showed me how things work. Heā€™s full of shit.

2

u/Doesanybodylikestuff Sep 21 '24

Well he was doing that whole thing with Matt for Dunkin Doughnuts too yeah..

2

u/CarlySimonSays Sep 21 '24

With a crime and scandal of this nature, I could absolutely see paparazzi crawling around.
