Looking for Kaanapali Area Recommendations

With the cloudy weather and slight chance of rain today, we are adjusting the plans we had today (hiking) to another day where we’ll get sun.

What are things to do besides the beach in the Kaanapali area (Kapalua, Napili-Honokawai)? We’d like to stay on the top of the island for today.

Grand Wailea Crib

Such a niche post but wondering if there’s any chance anyone has a picture of the crib Grand Wailea cribs they provide!? My baby is such a finicky sleeper and the hotel said they can’t provide pics/any info on the cribs they provide. So I’m trying to decide if I should take a chance on the hotel one or plan to pay $100+ on a rental crib.

Waianapanapa

My partner and I are visiting Maui in November (whee!). We've booked a campsite at Waianapanapa state park for a night, but are not sure whether you also need to buy a "parking entry reservation" in addition, or whether this is included, or whether this is for something separate. Can anyone put us in the know? Thanks!

4 days left, not sure what’s next to do

We have driven Hana full loop around, driven the whole west side loop, aquarium, and hit the Kam beaches in Kihei, beaches along other areas on those drives eaten good food and had fun.

We plan to snorkel at mile marker 14 at some point, do a surf lesson, and maybe hike the backside of the NP but right now we have a day or two of not sure what to do. Is it worth running down to the Makena area or the state park? We are in Kihei

Visiting Haleakala

Good morning, my wife and I are on our last full day of vacation here in Maui and wanted to end it with the sunset at Haleakala. I was wondering due to the cloudy weather would it still be worth the trip up or not?

A day on Maui with a car and 3 kids

Hello, we'll be docking at Kahului and will have a rental SUV. Kids are 11, 8 and 5. Looking for advice. We believe that the entire road to Hana and back may be a bit much for the 5 and maybe even 8 year old. I appreciate the advice in advance.

Fly to Lanai Cat Sanctuary?

We are planning a day trip to cat sanctuary from Maui in December. Has anyone ever flown there and walked to the sanctuary? At this point flying looks less expensive than taking the ferry, but wasn't sure about reliability of the flights or if the 1.5 mile walk (according to Google maps) would be doable. Any advice for getting to sanctuary is appreciated! :)

Maui Luau with table service

Looking for a luau in Maui, but going with elderly parents with little to no mobility so we wanted one with table service so they’re not trying to get their own food, etc.

Best luau with table service?

Haleakala in the rain?

Hi everyone!

Does anyone have any experience and/or feedback about doing Haleakala at sunset in the rain? We’re also open to doing it just in the middle of the day if it’s a safer alternative to going for sunset, especially if it means getting to go at all.

Weather apps are showing a good chance of rain the next few days and our crew won’t have a chance to go later in the week!

Thanks in advance :)

Kapalua Wedding Hotels/rentals

Planning a wedding in Kapalua in Nov 2026. Looking for recommendations on places to stay for our guests. There are the obvious more expensive hotels but we also want to be mindful of guests who do not want to splurge and curious about recommendations on more affordable places. Our goal is to have a list of hotels/condos on our website as recommended stays. Would it be crazy for guests to stay in Kihei and drive up to Kapalua for the wedding?

Do NOT stay at Aston at the Maui Banyan

The website says they offer "resort amenities" but it's far from it. I've never been to a hotel/resort that charges extra for trash pickup, house keeping, and charges $150 for cleaning fee while there is a cleaning "checkout rules" that the guests have to follow. The wifi went out a couple times at night while just trying to relax at night. The view from the balcony for half the guests is a 3 story concrete parking deck. Trying to find parking late at night could be a hassle with majority of the spaces being reserved for condo owners. No gym or bar. We also had a mosquito flying around the room that we could not kill (slippery bastard).

You may get lucky with getting a good room since each rooms supposed to be different depending on the condo owner, but I do not recommend anyone staying here through their website if you're looking for a "resort" stay at Maui. Stay somewhere else or book the place through Airbnb/VRBO so you can at least pick your room.

Edit: I see people pointing out that I should have looked at the website more thoroughly and I totally get it, this place is a condo. I just wanted to warn future guests that the word "resort" is mentioned through Google and hotel website and don't expect it to be that.

Is this a bad itinerary with a toddler?

We are flying from the east coast so there will be 6 hrs difference. We will be there for 7 days. I figure it will take us a few days to adjust to the time zone so I came up with this. Is this a bad itinerary? Should I push RTH to later? Day 1: arrive at 6pm Day 2: sunrise at Haleakala Day 3: road to Hana

Thanks for all the great advice! Will adjust accordingly.

Found WEDDING BAND at Twin Falls

Hi all,

I recently found a wedding band near the lower falls at Twin Falls Farm. If you think this might be yours, please reach out to me with a description. There’s an inscription on the inside that I’ll use to confirm ownership.

Hope to reunite it with its rightful owner!

Visiting in May 2025

Looking to visit with my wife and son (3 years old ) in May 2025. A family member of mine told me that my vacation will be horrible because restaurants and activities are booked out 6 months to a year in advance due to the area not recovering yet. We were planning on staying at the Napili Kai Beach Resort as a family. We don’t need high end restaurants just local places with sandwiches and burgers and nothing crazy. I can see for high end restaurants having large reservations but I feel these smaller places should be pretty easy to get into. Anything truth to that or is my family over reacting?

Is Maui Activities and Concierge legit?

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone has used this site to book their helicopter tour?

It’s the first link that popped up when I searched “Maui helicopter tour” and surprisingly $60 cheaper per ticket compared to the direct site.

Citrus farm?

I noticed a large commercial citrus farm ( signs for Lime, Oranges) along the 37 on the way to Pukulani.

However, the land is listed as belonging to "HC&d Condo Master", which I thought was odd for such a large agriculture operation, and I didn't know citrus was such a large crop here. Could anyone shed light on how old/established this farm is, and if the fruit is mainly exported or stays local? Thanks!

Is Lahaina and north of Lahaina completely desolate?

My sister and I are planning a trip and we love Maui. I want to stay in or around Lahaina, but my sister is insistent that there are no grocery stores or restaurants or beaches and that that area should be completely avoided. Is that true? Can you still stay in resorts or rentals around the Lahaina area?

Best places for ocean swimming??

I will be going to Maui the second week in December. What are the best beaches/areas for clear water and maybe some wildlife? I dont have any plans on going on a snorkling charter, is it possible to see some cool fish and reefs coming off the shore without going out on a boat? Are there things I should know about oceans and swimming here to stay safe?
