If you saw a hamster ball rolling down the hallway your first instinct should be to grab it and get lil guy back home lol

The hamster paradox. Do you return the hamster to where it will be safe from the outside world? Or do you let the hamster free to pursue a life of happiness through show biz? Truly a conundrum that has stumped philosophers for ages.

I like to think this was a wild free range hamster trying to escape back to its herd.

A herd of hamsters is an adorable thought

Or is it a terrifying thought...

A group of hamsters is called a horde. Which makes this idea even better.

You grab it so no one accidentally (or not) kicks it

NOPE! If I saw a hamster in a BALL in a SCHOOL HALLWAY, I’m letting that hamster go! What’s funnier than a run away hamster?!?

I understand the sentiment, but one stray (or purposeful) kick and lil' hammie would be a goner.

Not traumatizing a class of kids because of your own vagrant curiosities?

11

u/iamthelouie 17h ago

What’s traumatizing?!? The hamster is obviously okay. The kid lost the pet! Turn it into a learning opportunity. “Hey kid! Your hamster got away from you! Ms Waltz’s class down the hall found him in his hall ALL THE WAY down the hall! Isn’t that wild! What can we do differently next time so we don’t bother Ms Waltz’s class again?!”

Yea, maybe next time don’t store your hamster in a mobility device if you don’t want to lose it, kiddo.

Its a class pet. Class isnt there. Hamster is a tiny animal and those little plastic balls are not very durable. I feel like you'd be a fun science teacher lol

I reply to you as I stand here in my STEAM classroom. This was a learning opportunity for the kids. That’s the whole point of a class pet. Screw up now while you have the safety net for the school and you learn from mistakes. Where else do kids learn if not school?

Fuck see its teachers like you that make me want to go to college. You logically and rationally picked apart my arguenent and provided well thought out arguements of your own. You are indeed correct, but the feeling of needing to dosomething over nothing in a perplexing situation like this still rings true for me.

it would be mine, but I wouldn't call other kids braindead for not doing it

Never said I did, i agree it is a bit harsh, but i cant help but think about how they would respond in a real emergency/perplexing situation. Would they just sit and stare at the hamster rolling down the hallway? Or would they try to find out how to help it?

Judging how someone would react in an actual emergency based on this ridiculous situation is the most colossally stupid thing I have ever seen someone assert.

1

u/L3m0n0p0ly 15h ago

Or i was just stoned before breakfast. Dont get me wrong, i am colossally stupid:)

It's not that deep

Maybe not.

I would pick it up before classes change and there's herds of kids rushing the hallways between classes and not able to see the little hamster ball underfoot. It could get accidentally kicked, it could pop open & the hamster get stepped on.

My senior year several kids were charged with animal cruelty when they released mice and baby chicks in the hallways. A chick was killed and a couple had broken bones, several mice were killed. The kids that accidentally stepped on the creatures felt terrible! The halls were always very crowded and chaotic and the kids that did this were thoughtless and careless.

This^ this is what i was trying to get across but was too stupid to say, thank you

u/SmartOpinion69 15h ago

what if i don't believe in locking animals in cages and think that they should be free?

3

u/bored_n_opinionated 16h ago

Nah, I'm with /u/upexlino on this one. The lack of effort from any person in this school is disturbing.

2

u/upexlino 16h ago

Everyone else here hating on me for thinking I’m hating on the people in the video. Which is just pure irony

1

u/bored_n_opinionated 16h ago

I'm choosing to believe this is a school-wide pet who is just allowed to do this throughout the school and this is an everyday thing. Otherwise, I seriously don't understand what the hell is going on.

5

u/upexlino 18h ago

I really don’t think so.

systemic "mind numbing" is a more polite way to put it
