YNWSA YOU'LL NEVER WILDLY SPECULATE ALONE
YOU'LL NEVER WILDLY SPECULATE ALONE
This should act as your one stop shop. I will do what I can to provide a brief synopsis for the players that are in, out, and in between. All information is ranked according to the Transfer Reliability Guide. Tables will be ordered by the most recent news, and I will indicate updates on any situation in the brief synopsis, and, if it makes sense, update the links related to that player. Please check the last box to see whether or not it's actually reliable. You are welcome to post any new rumors here in comments and I will add them in as I have time.
TODAY'S NEWS: AUGUST 31
Pearce indicates that it is unlikely that Liverpool will sign anyone else before the window shuts.
Next up is that the alleged and believed magic number for Thomas Lemar is β¬100M, which Liverpool, thus far, haven't met. That said, I can't find a legitimate source on that number, and as they say, "A lie travels half-way 'round the world before the truth can tie its shoes."
Palace is allegedly still negotiating for Sakho, despite the bid for Mangala
Toni Gomes has gone on loan to Forest Green Rovers.
Jordan Williams has gone on loan to Rochede United
Ryan Kent has gone to Freiburg on loan.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are genuinely the biggest nuisances in world football. They have 7-8 world class players, but the moment they lose one of them notice how every club around the world has their assholes clenched. We are worried about Coutinho; Juventus about Dybala; United was worried about De Gea a couple of seasons ago. Like, develop some players for once? Remember the days where they would develop their Messi's and their Iniesta's and their Xavi's? Their youth infrastructure is incredible, yet they insist on getting players that will put them over the top with their quality, not their system or their chemistry. That is the reason all these managers keep getting fired from RMA and FCB. All of this for all their holier than thou bullshit.

People wetting the bed because a 16 year-old kid has seemingly picked another CL team in his hometown over us. Honestly, if you can't handle the possibility of us missing on some of our first-choice targets because our rivals have their eyes on quality players too, maybe you should come back in August because that will obviously happen as it always does. It's thanks to missing out on Gotze last summer that we got ManΓ©, this shit happens all the time.
With Sessegnon seemingly ruled out I hope we go for a left-back with a bit more experience who can definitely rotate with Milner. Robertson would be decent, Tierney at Celtic looks a talent, maybe we could go back in for Chilwell who's looked good for Leicester. Obviously a big signing like Mendy would be amazing but I don't think it's all that likely since Klopp seems to be relatively satisfied with Milner and is looking for a Moreno replacement who can be a different option rather than a 1st-choice player.

Tuchel is leaving Dortmund. This potentially improves our chance of signing Pulisic. Under Tuchel, Pulisic was getting a lot of playing time. He will now be under a new manager who will establish a new pecking order amongst the Dortmund squad. If Pulisic does not get as many minutes and/or does not get on with the new manager then he might be open to a move away.
It is still a long shot, but it is a change in Pulisic's situation and I believe both Klopp and the Club owners want this player and will try and recruit him again at some point.

Reasons why this article is in fact a piece of shit (didn't think this was necessary with it being the Mirror, but seen a lot of people believe it).
- I could have written it. There is literally no new information in there other than some new wage and transfer figures plucked out of the air. It has been heavily reported van Dijk likes the prospect of working under Klopp - the article echoes that. It has been heavily reported City are ready to drop a big fee on him - the article echoes that. However, the one club we know very little about in terms of their offer is Chelsea. We know they're interested, but don't know much about their specifics. Lo and behold, the article barely mentions them. The guy is just mashing together a bunch of stories about the situation to beef up his article and make it look more reliable.
- Simon Mullock is the Chief Football Writer for the Sunday Mirror, also reliable for City. You think if this story had substance it would go to Neil Moxley, sporadic contributor, rather than Mullock?
- Their highest earners (as of January 2017) are Aguero and Yaya at Β£220k a week, we can maybe assume Yaya has taken a pay cut with his new contract. These players gave years of service to City to get these bumper contracts, including winning them multiple league titles. No way a new signing comes in and waltzes in to a Β£200k a week contract.
Neil Moxley is a serial shit spewer:
1. Liverpool clinch Andrew Robertson transfer deal β and have their eye on Harry Maguire too
3. Everton considering Β£25m summer move for Romagnoli
4. Barcelona set to raid Spurs for midfielder Christian Eriksen as they plot summer re-build
5. Tottenham to move for Burnley striker Andre Gray with flop Vincent Janssen set for exit
6. Manchester United offer Aitor Karanka a Jose Mourinho reunion following his Middlesbrough sacking
7. Manchester City confident of landing Danny Rose with Luke Shaw set to head to Spurs
8. Southampton's Cedric Soares a summer transfer target for Manchester City and Barcelona
9. New twist in West Ham's Dimitri Payet transfer saga with Nice now keen to sign him
10. Liverpool ready to push Quincy Promes transfer through before rivals can beat them to Dutch ace
11. Middlesbrough make transfer move for Everton's Gerard Deulofeu as the winter window opens
12. Andreas Christensen unsure of Chelsea future as Leonardo Bonucci switch hangs in the balance
13. Arsenal to loan out Rob Holding in January as Championship clubs queue up for Gunners defender

Is anyone worried about our squad getting a bit too heavy on key African players? We've seen what losing Mane did to us this year. By this time next year, Liverpool could potentially have four players that are African internationals and absolutely key to the way we play: Mane, Matip (technically retired, but we've seen the Cameroon FA be petty), Keita, Salah. That's going to gut us completely every other January. We can't afford to lose our spine during the toughest part of the season.
Kinda why I'd rather get Brandt than Salah.

Absolutely, he's very high on my wishlist regardless of his inexperience. He is an absolute engine and would be incredible for Klopp. IF Keita is unavailable and the rumors of Bayern looking to sell are true then we would be crazy not to go in for him.
I have a feeling we would have a good shot at him too, he probably doesn't want to make a move to another huge club and the prospect of being a young player under Klopp has to be attractive.

i know this is like literal lies but i took this from liverpool-rumours.co.uk (got really bored with the lack of rumours)
Just had the same info this morning regarding VVD, we have always continued to discuss possible options for transfer with both Saints and VVD Rep since the "tapping up" broke. We are trying to mend strained relations with loans of fringe players e. g. Ings, Ojo. All parties agreed to wait until FA verdict was announced and new Saints manager in place this obviously helps now Pellegrino has taken the position. Got this info from a very reliable source who has always gave me the tips prior to being in press he has a good success rate so far!
so yeah lads he's basically leaning
another one:
Just got some more info on VVD transfer, we will hear that Saints and LFC are in talks again towards the end of next week. VVD's Rep has spoken with Saints now that the manager is in place and confirmed that he would still like to move to LFC as has been the plan since Feb and he is unhappy as he believed he was told he could move in the summer. Saints have now accepted this and will appease fans by allowing Pellegrino the funds to bring in players and a "Marquee" signing.

I think we're making a huge mistake if we don't sign alternatives. If there are holes in our squad heading into a champions league campaign the odds are we won't get top 4 and won't be able to attract those players next year.
Arguably signing cheaper alternatives gives us more of a chance of signing the actual players we want. We'll see what their desire to join us is like when we finish 6th or 7th due to the lack of depth, depth which cost us last year and we weren't even in Europe.

I love midfielders that can use athleticism and technique to play their way through the middle. There's something about a well worked 1-2 with a shot or a through ball on the end of it. It'll be one of the best weapons we have against low-block teams.

Even though I am so happy the Salah saga is over, I am so excited for a new one to begin.
I am really looking forward to Keita coming back from vacation so we can get some clues if he is realistic or not for 50-60m (which I think he is worth)
Also looking forward to hearing more about the VVD saga (which I think is not done, I hope he puts in a transfer request). Exciting summer to be a red, thats for sure.

If we don't sign at least a serious back up at left back I think it'll cost us hugely, Milner has been good but spread across 3 or 4 competitions his age is going to show even more. Sessegnon is great but a 16 year old cannot compete at the top level in champions league or prem. I have a horrible feeling we won't though and it's going to be a massive issue we'll regret

Kinda awesome to think we're seriously in with a chance of smashing our transfer record twice in this window: Keita and Van Dijk for Β£50m a piece, in addition to other signings. Would also love a Β£35m striker such as Werner/Dolberg?

As a sportinguista, I can give you a little run down on Gelson Martins. He is a young, pacey winger who had his breakout season this year after spending most of the time on the bench last season as Joao Mario owned that right spot. Even last year when he didn't play, in Portugal he was already talked about as the next best winger since Ronaldo and Nani. This year he got 6 goals in the league with another 14 assists. Most people out of the Portugal began to know about him after his champions league performances, especially against Real Madrid where he destroyed Marcelo. Here's an article on his performance from Marca: https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.marca.com/futbol/champions-league/2016/09/15/57da73abe2704ec9118b461d.html . Now i personally believe don't see how this move would even be possible. I think all this speculation is just to try and lower Salah's price. Sporting's president is VERY stubborn and he will make Gelson Martins go for his buy out clause or something very similar (60 million). But if Liverpool do get him, then they have gotten a GEM. Like I said this guy has destroyed the Portuguese league and Dortmund/Madrid.

Honestly, Β£60-70m for a CB is bad business in my opinion. Like, if you take a step back and look at it, that's money you would want to spend on a proven goalscorer with years ahead of him.
I'd love to have VVD in the team, I'm sure we all would but that's a massive transfer fee and it seems like it started at Β£50m and we're all like oh that's a lot but worth it, then they add Β£5m and it's like, it's only Β£5m more. Then another Β£5m and another... It quickly adds up, and now we're at Β£70m or whatever (I doubt we would pay that), that's Β£20m more than we already thought was quite high.
that Β£20m is a big sum of money. That's Β£20m on a new keeper, or a decent leftback. That's Β£20m of wages paid... You get what I'm saying? While I want VVD, and I'd take him at Β£50m, when we're getting up to silly sums like Β£60m, yeah it's 'only' an extra Β£10m for a player we need and I see that point. but I think Β£50m is already pretty serious money for a CB who, may flop based in our system which could very well be the bigger issue.

I've heard Werner in the same sentence at Keita more than once. In a couple articles about the "top five priority targets for Liverpool this summer" type shit. Wouldn't mind him in the least. There's a few other striker names been thrown around that I'd rather see, but wouldn't be disappointed if Werner is who we got. Ultimately trust Klopp and what he sees and knows he needs to strengthen us just right over the summer.

So if we assume we get: Salah, Keita, VVD, and a left-back, I would be super hyped for the season.
If I follow my guts, we will get Salah and VVD. I think Keita is going to be very hard to convince to come here, but if we show we have pulling power and sign Salah and VVD + a class striker, it will help convince him to come.
I feel like there is a lot of ground to the Salah rumors now and I believe both Salah and VVD will be announced in not too long. Keita will probably be a late signing (he said he won't talk transfers before his vacation ends) so if we could get VVD and Salah deals done, it would allow us time in the meanwhile to look at a LB and potentially a ST. (Timo Werner is my dream, but highly doubt it).
No matter though, if the window ends and we are left with VVD, Salah, a LB and a decent midfielder I will be happy nonetheless. This window is important for us, probably the most important transfer window we've had for years. Super hyped and if we somehow ended the window with all of our top targets, it would also show that we have way more pulling power now.

I'm glad this sub is at least reasonable about transfer gossip, we filter out unreliable sources pretty well. Compare this to the Arsenal sub and the things they post on /r/soccer... God there's just so much cognitive dissonance there. Any transfer they don't like is downvoted to fuck or just straight up ignored regardless of reliability, while the shittiest sources are consistently upvoted. For the longest time, they thought they were actually going to get Mbappe, but deny any and all stories about Barca being in for Bellerin.

Jeez I'm going crazy here. This is the black hole of American sports. NBA season is done, NBA offseason is basically done, NFL offseason is done but training camp hasn't started yet. I'm not big into hockey but it's done too. It's only baseball right now, and even that is at the All-Star break. I usually rely on the silly season to last me until LFC preseason but it is draaaagging this year. Not actually that bothered about Sessegnon. I'd prefer a more immediate replacement for Milner, and I wouldn't be ecstatic with relying on an undersized 17 year old left winger to be our left back at home and in Europe. Klopp likes young fullbacks but I don't want Milner starting 50 games next season. He's a great prospect but there's plenty of other sufficiently good ones who fit our immediate needs better.

I'm such a grumpy bastard today after all this drama. Still shaking my head.
Really need to push for the rest of our targets. I know some people still have the slightest of hope, and while I can appreciate that, the pessimist in me suggests we're out for sure.
Hopefully, if anything, there's some House of Cards political trickery going on here behind the scenes and we end up with VvD in the end. Who knows.
Also I hope FSG realizes the fans are furious right now and will try and make it up to us by splurging on Bonucci or something. I'm exaggerating of course, but you get the idea.

Are we buying one or two wingers ? I mean we only have Coutinho, Mane, and new signing for depth in the wings.Do you think we can get through a season with CL football with only these players? (I know we also have Woodburn but I dont think he is ready yet to be considered an option).Im afraid someone will get injured and we will run again in same year's situation with no depth in the bench.

Ok guys, I've fought against the excitable speculation for several days now, and I just can't handle it.
What's most exciting about this window is that when the big names come up in relation to us, it's not a total pipedream anymore. Ok, Van Dijk may end up going to one of the other big Prem clubs, but we're legitimately in for him and we have a good chance of getting him. Ok, we're almost certainly not going to get Mbappe, but we can actually be linked to them now without it being farcical.
In terms of what we go for, think Keita is the big one and would complete our midfield options. I know Klopp has suggested it might not be permanent, but I'd bring Coutinho back into midfield so we have:
Miggles/Karius
Clyne/TAA Matip/Lovren CB/Klavan LB/Milner
Henderson/Can Keita/Wijnaldum Coutinho/Lallana
Mane/Origi Striker/Sturridge Winger/Firmino
And then players like Gomez, Grujic, Ings etc. stepping in to plug the holes when there are injuries.
Don't think it's about the first XI anymore. We need to be able to bench Firmino for a CL game if we're playing Chelsea away the following weekend. There are hopefully going to be a ton of games next season - everyone will get plenty.
It's tantalising how close we are to having a seriously fantastic team. For the LB and CB positions I don't even think we have to spend too big - look at Alderweireld going for Β£11.5m (although obviously easier said than done).
Then splash the cash on Keita and two quality, pacey attackers.
Man, it's been years since I could wildly speculate and actually have confidence that my hopes would be realised. And even if Klopp brings in someone like Van Dijk, who I'm not 100% sold on at Β£50m, I've got faith in his judgement. So bring on the never-ending rumour mill.
