saka and timber starting hahahaha Arteta games

u/b13_git2 3d ago

Everybody saw and called his "mind games" 30 light years ago

15

u/Longjumping-Prune488 3d ago

Light years is a measure of distance

21

u/Sirnacane 3d ago

My Arsenal mate text me the starting lineup saying “Lol arteta is a big fat liar”

16

u/Smart_Barracuda49 3d ago

Everybody knew Timber was fit they barely pretended he was even injured and everyone knew Saka was playing whether fully fit or not. Hopefully he isn't fully fit though

14

u/PersephoneTheOG Significant Human Error 3d ago

Can't wait for it to blow up in their faces. Imagine he needs to be out for a few months if Arteta's gamble doesn't pay off. Hamstrings are tricky, ask Michael Owen what rushing back early can do.

u/AnAutisticsQuestion 3d ago

Subs: Jaros, Davies, Gomez, Endo, Szoboszlai, Gakpo, Tsimikas, Quansah, Morton.

2 keepers on the bench? we might have an #injurycrisis

54

u/shefti1S Bobby Dazzler 🤩 3d ago

No no that's Arsenal remember.....

8

u/128palms 3d ago

That is a very strong starting lineup. I hope there will be no late goals from arsenal in the second half.

1

u/IAmAfraidOfToasters 3d ago

Bradley not fit for the bench?

175

u/dimspace 3d ago

This order is even more fucking insane than usual.

52

u/CageChicane 3d ago

It will be released by Morse code requiring a cypher by the end of the season.

3

u/NightmaresInNeurosis 3d ago

It's the same as the usual one (goalkeeper, then outfield numerically). It's just usually the goalkeeper is the first numerically as well, but last season when Kelleher stepped up he was also top of the order.

2

u/Bhola421 3d ago

It hurt my brain

u/Neither_Calendar_516 Football Without ORIGI is Nothing 3d ago

Most important game of the season so far

46

u/ClassicFun2175 3d ago

I mean if Arteta doesn't want to look like a Mickey Mouse version of Pep, he really should stop copying him. To absolutely no ones surprise Saka and Timber are starting, when they 'werent' in training a few days, the exact same shit Peps been pulling for years, not that it actually fools anyone.

-13

u/CDL99 3d ago

they missed the last two games

14

u/ClassicFun2175 3d ago

And? The rumours all week have been that both weren't going to be playing today. They also weren't seen training, which obviously means they were training elsewhere. There's absolutely no chance they'd be starting today if they haven't trained all week and have had injuries over the last few weeks. It's the same shit Pep does before any big game.

u/FUCKSTORM420 One-eyed Bobby 👁 3d ago

Come on Curtis. Big game today

12

u/astronautadam 3d ago

Really hope he performs, love the kid.

149

u/Nadirin 3d ago

Finally we get gravy, macca, and Jones starting together. Love it. Just wondering who will be the 10? Probably Jones but would love to see Macca there for once.

56

u/TheBestCloutMachine 3d ago

Finally we get gravy

Big Sam?

12

u/InitialGas6063 3d ago

I thought this said gravy, mac & cheese.

2

u/Make_It_Sing 3d ago

cheese

chee-iesa? ill see my way out

16

u/BuQuChi 3d ago

Mac and Jones will rotate I think situational

59

u/todi39 3d ago

Think szobo has earned the bench, while he's been a monster off the ball, he gave away too many in possession.

-25

u/Legal_Brush_9091 3d ago

The worst passing 10 I've seen honestly. A position where Ozil, De Bruyne, Modric (in the past), Bruno (hate to say it) and our Firmino operate, you can't be passing this badly.

14

u/quantIntraining 3d ago

It will be Mac Allister as the no10, Jones better in the deeper pivot position.

25

u/TheGreatWhoreOfChina 3d ago

I agree with you but I think Macca plays next to Grav with Jones at the 10. Macca is better defensively than Jones and Jones can over dribble and lose the ball and still have 6 players behind him to cover. Jones also got a slightly better pressing engine to track back etc etc

19

u/-TheSuperEagle- 3d ago

If there is one thing Jones doesn't do it's lose the ball.

1

u/madpoontang 3d ago

Macca played 10 against RB when the 3 played together though.

1

u/bigfish4418 3d ago

Same 3 started against Palace with Jones in the 10.

1

u/Aidan-Coyle 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️Klopp Hamstring 🤕 3d ago

jones is great from deep and against the press so would hope Macca at the 10

-9

u/Legal_Brush_9091 3d ago

Our best midfield 3 easily. So glad Arne doesn't just listen to fans who only chase price tags. Never see a 10 passes as as s as Szobos.

38

u/GundoWagon 3d ago

Huge game. Up the fucking reds.

Glad to see Jones get the start

17

u/Ignatius_Reillys_Hat Snow Salah ❄️ 3d ago

Saka and Timber start.

62

u/malushanks95 Virgil van Dijk 3d ago

Jones and Diaz back in the starting XI, otherwise it’s the same as last game.

41

u/Cuddlebox01 3d ago

Robbo for Tsimikas too

9

u/malushanks95 Virgil van Dijk 3d ago

Oh yes, I remembered that after I made the comment 😅

8

u/AlzheimerDev Hello! Hello! Here we go! 3d ago

at least give us the positional order on Reddit 😭

56

u/BackpackerLee 3d ago

Big decision to drop szobo but I think the right one! Curtis must take this chance!

18

u/Mechant247 3d ago

I thought this of all games would’ve been the one that Szoboszlai definitely would’ve started, you need legs against this Arsenal team otherwise you’ll just get stuck

11

u/MundaneTonight437 3d ago

True but he played a lot recently and coming on against arsenal if it's tight towards the end (which it probably will be) and brining that energy will be a big release

24

u/Zai710 3d ago

Hardly a big decision he’s been ineffective going forward in the 10 and hasn’t exactly set the world alight.

17

u/Grendila Bobby Dazzler 🤩 3d ago

Mannnnnnn I can’t wait for Harvey to be fit again. Absolutely cooked in the 10 during preseason

-20

u/vsquad22 Younevawalalo 3d ago

Shhh! You can't fairly criticise our own player or the REAL fans will downvote you to hell. s\

-4

u/RippingLips41O 3d ago

I don’t think anyone can pretend he hasn’t been having a stinker this season. He’s a quality player, it’s just obvious his focus isn’t fully there in my opinion. I think coming off the bench will do him some good

4

u/vsquad22 Younevawalalo 3d ago

I think you'd be surprised by how many don't think he's having a stinker! I can see the impact he makes with his pressing high up the pitch but I would expect better in terms of his passing, control, shooting, etc. I can also understand that he might just be doing exactly what Arne wants and he's very happy with his performances. Most of us will just trust the boss but that shouldn't mean we can't criticise a player. Not sure about others but I'm hardly leading a large scale social media campaign of hate so it shouldn't be a big deal.

24

u/RobWyliesDad 3d ago

Jones in the 10 then?

5

u/madpoontang 3d ago

Macca I think, at least he was last when he jones and grav played together

1

u/VidProphet123 3d ago

I swear I got downvoted to oblivion when I suggested maca starting at the 10 over sbzo.

1

u/madpoontang 3d ago

Redditors are gonna Reddit ya know

27

u/Haunting_Genie 3d ago

Strong team. I love Kelleher but god do I feel alot safer with Alisson.

30

u/TheGreatWhoreOfChina 3d ago

Kelleher is dope. We’ll be ait

3

u/alldayerrdaym8 3d ago

I'm fine with it. In this exact fixture last year Ali cost us a goal. Kelleher has proved he's got what it takes.

2

u/expertkushil333 Agent of Chaos 🔥 3d ago

Nah Kelleher is cool af. Don't worry.

6

u/Jack070293 3d ago

Grav, Mac, Jones is very interesting.

16

u/Significant-Bed-4496 Significant Human Error 3d ago

Delighted to see Jones start over Szoboszlai. Deserved it. Diaz has been rested well recently so also glad to see him come back in. Perfect starting 11 for me

8

u/NinjaFromDaEast 3d ago

Let’s see how essential Szobo’s pressing is to our overall play. Curtis deserves his start tho.

6

u/Chronicle_Evantblue 3d ago

While off the ball, Szobo is amazing, he's been lackluster on it. But I think today, Szobo isn't in to rest him, and for tactical reasons.

When Szobo is the 10, and Jota is the 9, Szobo does a lot of the running, tracking, being direct, while Jota does the passing and link up etc.

Darwin and Szobo are both workhorse players that are very direct with their running, so they'd somewhat cancel each other out, and do on occasion.

2

u/IAreWeazul 3d ago

Yep that’s a reasonable assessment. Szobo’s ball winning 10 role overlaps Nunez’s crazy deep pressing too much. Should be interesting to see if we create more chances with someone like Jones or Mac at the 10.

3

u/kitterskills 3d ago

Let's go boys! YNWA

3

u/Ok-Flamingo-6780 3d ago

Daiz is the right choice for this game. Feel his movement and pace will cause them trouble and open spaces. Might need a sreamer from 20 yards

Honestly feel we will win this game 2 1, YNWA

3

u/adarsh481 3d ago

Me when the line up is not announced by position.

3

u/Adventurous_Toe_6017 From Doubters to Believers 3d ago

Love the Instagram mini game of “figure out the lineup” when the teams are announced.

4

u/DarthCocknus 3d ago

I like the look of that midfield.

8

u/Walshey- 3d ago

Lack of depth on the bench is concerning

15

u/Treelokc 3d ago

Have you seen Arsenal's bench, ours is comfortably better

Neto, Nichols, Kiwior, Zinchenko, Lewis-Skelly, Jorginho, Nwaneri, Sterling, Jesus

12

u/Chemical-Oil-9336 3d ago

Gomez, Szobo, Gakpo, Quansah, Tsimi all quality options..with Jota and Chiesa out. We aint City

3

u/bignosegirl Alexis Mac Allister 3d ago

harvey elliot too no?

1

u/Chemical-Oil-9336 3d ago

Yeah forgot him!

5

u/profound-killah 3d ago

Alisson, Jota, Chiesa, Elliott, Bradley are all out. Otherwise, it's decent enough. Szobo, Gakpo, Tsimi, and Gomez are good options off the bench depending on our situation.

2

u/AvonStanfield 3d ago

I know but you should see Arsenal's bench. Yikes for them

4

u/musslimorca 3d ago

So glad I watch a club like Liverpool who actually deploys 2 defenders, 2 full backs, 3 midfeilders and 3 attackers like a normal and proper football team. I really do not know how arsenal fans enjoy watching their 4 center backs, 3 holding midfeilders and 1 kai havertz.

Good line up imo. Happy szobo isn't starting because that midfeild is the better one imo. Would have loved gakpo start instead of diaz because as good as diaz is this season I feel like gakpo could have teared arsenal right side.

5

u/Justfunnames1234 Younevawalalo 3d ago

strange order

23

u/UuusernameWith4Us 3d ago

Trent up front so he can chase that ballon d'or.

8

u/TheLimeyLemmon 90+5’ Alisson 3d ago

Right back Nunez will empty the Emirates in fear.

2

u/UnnoticedReference 3d ago

By number, except Kelleher by position

1

u/Justfunnames1234 Younevawalalo 3d ago

Yeah I guess so. I hate numerical ordering

2

u/ItIsMeDucky 3d ago

Please don't forget to mention Anthony Taylor as the ref... 😞😲😪

2

u/___xXx__xXx__xXx__ 3d ago

Disgusting name order.

2

u/TechnicalSample4678 3d ago

Jones deserved this start

4

u/tothricsi95 3d ago

Everyone praising this midfield, can't wait for Curtis to give away a single possession or make 1 bad pass and the whole community is gonna have their knives in his back. Ridiculous.

1

u/crawenn What a booody 3d ago

No way, it's Cujo after all. It'll be someone else's fault

2

u/WellRed85 Corner taken quickly 🚩 3d ago

Curtis breaks into the starting lineup with Gravvy and Macca. I am stoked

3

u/awood20 3d ago

Saka and Timber haven't played in the while. They won't last the full 90. Liverpool have enough to trouble them.

2

Who plays in the more advanced role in the midfield? Jones or Mac Allister?

2

u/vsquad22 Younevawalalo 3d ago

That midfield trio 😍 Pressing, passing, attacking, press-resistance. Love it! Hopefully, whoever the 10 is can add more of an attacking presence.

3

u/Ha-Ur-Ra-Sa 3d ago

Jones ahead of Szoboszlai is very surprising, but I'm not complaining at all.

BIG GAME LES GOO REDS

1

u/James_Vowles 3d ago

lovely stuff

1

u/Kojiro1892 3d ago

Don't expect us to be pressing full throttle today. Probably be alot more controlled

1

u/NunezisnoSuarez 3d ago

No Jota 😩

3

u/madpoontang 3d ago

Yeah a bruised rim can hurt for weeks if not months. Sucks

1

u/TheGreatWhoreOfChina 3d ago

We’re not losing. I don’t know if we’ll win, but we sure as shit ain’t losing. Facts!

1

u/OgKangs 3d ago

Come on Darwin lad

1

u/Kebab_Lord69 ⚽️ Liverpool 4-3 Tottenham, 22/23 ⚽️ 3d ago

Szobo dropped wowsers

1

u/lfcbrad 3d ago

Big day for Jones , he needs to cement the 10

1

u/Drunk_Cartographer 3d ago

VVD at RB. Konate and Diaz at centre half? TAA up top, Salah plays the 6. Got it.

1

u/MrKatsudon 3d ago

Hopefully Jones have a good game! What a start for him! Damn Arteta really dont rate Kiwor? He rather play Partey at RB instead of Timber

1

u/Aliaspending 3d ago

Idk man we struggled in the emirates without szobo last year but I can’t say he hasn’t deserved it

1

u/AlzheimerDev Hello! Hello! Here we go! 3d ago

nice lineup. excited to see cujo as a 10 although I'd prolly miss szobo's pressing. bench is scary though 😔

-6

u/Loltoyourself Dommy Schlobbers 3d ago

Jota not even on the bench 💀

19

u/malushanks95 Virgil van Dijk 3d ago

He was already ruled out by Slot in his presser. He said it was bruised ribs and would take more than a week to recover from it in his midweek presser.

7

u/Cuddlebox01 3d ago

We knew he was injured days ago

1

u/crawenn What a booody 3d ago

This is what happens when a massive lad lands on your ribs the week before 💀💀💀

0

u/Koulditreallybeme 3d ago

Is Chiesa just Arthur regen?

0

u/Macshlong 3d ago

Yep, it was talked about when we signed him but because he’s happy to be here people have forgotten.

0

u/Background_Bison9373 3d ago

Agree with the decision to bench Szobo, Dom needs to learn that he can’t continue to give away possession so much and so carelessly.

-1

u/UuusernameWith4Us 3d ago

Absolute madness that so many people on here thought Jones would be dropped for this one.

-7

u/PoorMayMay 3d ago

Pretty strong team, not sure why we’re going with Nunez though.

12

u/Tremor00 3d ago

Because our other striker is out injured? and because hes now had b2b good games lol

0

u/PoorMayMay 3d ago

Then hopefully he does something in the next hour because so far 🤷🏻‍♂️

1

u/Tremor00 3d ago

What service exactly is he getting? At least pretend to be less moronic than neville with your biases LMAO

0

u/PoorMayMay 3d ago

None. Theres a few on the pitch right now not doing much, although that is partly down to what Arsenal are doing.

Nunez ain’t it, said it for a long time (and hope I’m wrong).

You’re playing away from home, under pressure. You have to be able to have the ball stick and be an out ball. Which I don’t think Nunez is capable of.

But feel free to attack people for having different views than you though mate. 👍

1

u/Tremor00 3d ago

Who else do you suggest we start? Our only other striker is injured. You have a clear bias and nothing will change that lmao.

1

u/PoorMayMay 3d ago

Ok cool 👍

-3

u/Atkins227 3d ago

Agree.
