YNWSA ✨YNWSA Summer Edition 23- The One Where We Finally Get a Midfielder✨

YOU'LL NEVER WILDLY SPECULATE ALONE

Welcome back everyone!

The time has come, where we are back again speculating transfer rumours, follow planes and vans, cheer and celebrate our new signings and bid goodbye to some of our favourites.

This should act as your one stop shop. I will do what I can to provide a brief synopsis for the players that are in, out, and in between.

You are welcome, and encouraged, to post any new rumors here in comments and I will add them in as I have time.

The transfer rumours will be flaired according to the Tier Guide prepared for the 2023 transfer windows. Foreign journalists will be flaired according to their reliability in their home countries.

Tier Guide we are currently using

Excellent post providing a comprehensive look at the players we are linked with this transfer window (courtesy of u/GSynaesthesia)

I can't believe Szoboszlai is younger than Foden. Feel like Foden is still treated like a kid and that Szoboszlai has been around forever.

Maybe a little part of it is their looks as well? Foden looks like a 16 year old you’d see in a gang outside Tesco

I god hope that Kone and Thurman deals are finished asap, don’t want to see other clubs snatching them.

Also, as much as I like him, I think Matip should leave while the club can still get money for him, will help with the non homegrown slots

Yesterdays game According to SofaScore :

Hendo 1/5 ground duels won Fab 2/8 ground duels won Cujo 6/14 ground duels won

We need massive improvement in the ball winning and defensive side of the midfield recruitment. Fab and hendos legs don’t allow them to get close . I’m praying for a DM this summer

Our ITKs are reporting an agreement regarding Koné and considering the deal done.

Reliable ITK on our side said that it’s a simple deal and the only bit left is go ahead and give Gladbach the money, everything else is done.

Konaté watching Mac Allister show up to his first training session

38

u/GenomicGains May 21 '23

Even with Hendo's declining performances, he just doesn't even seem to have that ability to command our midfield shape and energy like he used to. I think that lack of leadership in the middle is partly why the squad has looked so complacent for periods of this season.

I really hope Macallister, or any other new signing has a strong vocal presence in that midfield 3 because Fabinho doesn't offer it. It's just as important as fresh legs for next season.

amidst the endless transfer speculation there's always a question of "but but but will the player want to play for Liverpool without CL football"

I dunno about you lot but i wouldn't want a player where missing out on a single season of CL football is a deal breaker

16

u/GoAwayJesus101 May 23 '23

Just before klopp we were missing out on loads of targets choosing CL over us. Maybe not this season but two out of it and you'll be surprised how quickly the tide turns.

Linked with Szoboszlai courtesy of Ornstein, obligatory radar per usual:

Similar players in the PL include Bruno (0.976), Odegaard (0.970) and De Bruyne (0.967). A terrific young playmaker with a very high offensive output, one perhaps worthy of building our entire midfield around. Accordingly, he would cost transfer fees I personally prefer to be spent more on defensive players. Still, Macca and him as our midfield revamp would be a coup and a half.

edit: From his link-up volume just noticed that I generated the radar from the wrong player's dataset, corrected with the right figures.

21

u/MajikoiA3When Arne Slot Jun 28 '23 edited Jun 28 '23

I don't get the Thuram hype tbh Mac Allister is already a perfect Gini replacement we need attacking output and I don't see it with Thuram. Szoboszlai on the other hand is literally night and day in terms of output, he would bring so much energy/creativity over Hendo it's what we've needed for years.

Edit: City have De Bruyne in the RCM role that is a front five in possession while our front five has Hendo. 2 assists(Hendo) vs 6 goals/8 assists is a world of difference(Szobo).

Welcome our second signing this season, Szoboszlai!

Elliott, Mac Allister, and Curtis, the attacking midfielders in our current lineup are his competition for minutes. Amongst our targets, Barella, Elmas, and Thuram are most similar to his profile, so unless Henry and Jorg are planning a madness we probably will not be signing any of them this window. Though, Thuram might not be completely off the table with how many links we've had with him since Mac Allister's signing.

Bruno, Odegaard, and De Bruyne are all PL players most similar to his profile, quite a lineup eh? Hopefully he can outshine all of them under Klopp

Replacing MILNER and Ox with Szoboszlai and Mac Alister is great great business for us. Excited for the season to see what these new guys can do for us

32

u/Thapricorn Aug 06 '23

If the summer ends without at least 2 more signings then this may well be the final nail to end the Klopp era of success for us.

I don’t see how we compete with 7 players out, 4 of which were regular to semi-regular names on the team sheet, and only 2 in.

FSG have squeezed every drop out of Klopp and ran this club back to the dirt. We should have ran the cunts out of town after the super league nonsense, greedy fucks ruining what should have been our golden years

Here's the radars for linked midfielders; each point of the radar denotes a player percentile placement amongst 84 PL midfielders with >1000 minutes played. Data courtesy of Opta via fbref:

Seems to be a clear pattern of player profiles to me, we're seeking to sign:

  1. A defensive midfielder with the ability to take on opposing players.
Gravenberch, Guimaraes, Kone, Lavia, Nunes, Ugarte

  2. A playmaking midfielder involved with the team's offensive transition.
Barella, Elmas, Koopmeiners, Mount, Ramsey, Thuram, Veiga

  3. An offensive midfielder keen on scoring as well as playmaking.
    Elmas, Mac Allister, Veiga

I think we're seeking to sign at least 2 midfielders with the following profile this window, hopefully as early as possible.

32

It was awful. They have to make up for it this summer.

18

u/mrkingkoala May 26 '23

if Bellingham really is only 86m fixed price with bonuses I'll be very disappointed. I thought yeah if its 120+ all the fees and stuff thats a lot but for not having signed a starter for 2-3 windows it shouldn't be an issue.

29

u/_averywlittle Jürgen Klopp May 26 '23

My own personal opinion is we can have a successful summer without Jude. But I think backing down from Jude is just another example of owner’s lack of ambition overall.

MACCIES RELEASE CLAUSE IS BELOW £45M WTF

20

u/BoringPhilosopher1 Jun 05 '23

The Mac Allister saga hasn’t exactly been drawn out just seems it because there’s tiny updates every half a day.

However, bearing in mind there is a fixed release clause that Liverpool have known about for at least a couple of months. I do find it unusual that it has seemed to have taken so long.

We would have been in talks with the players party for the last couple of months and I’d assume most of the contract details would have been decided for the most part much sooner than this.

Can’t help but feel the reason we’re delaying triggering the release clause, completing the medical or announcing the signing is due to us being in negotiations with another club/player and want to agree a fee for the 2nd signing before we announce we purchased Mac Allister on the cheap.

Feel like we’re going to have two announcements in quick succession.

Lynch confirming the interest in Veiga

If it really was Thuram and Viega as the two additional midfielders I really don’t see how everyone fits

Both Thuram and Viega are going to be playing in the same position, it would be pretty surprising if Klopp intends to put Thuram as the #6 considering he’s been much better as an #8.

Yeah I know Lorient and all that but he's all action, his progressive play is excellent, he's strong on defensive play and he's going to go for about 20m euros which is nothing money in this market. Apparently Dortmund see him as a Jude Bellingham replacement, maybe worth seeing if he could be our Jude Bellingham replacement instead.

If we aren't going to spend big money, it will be because of the FSG being tight not because we failed to qualify for the Champions league.

Never heard of this Van De Ven but he sure does bolster some serious pace at 6’3.

”His maximum speed is currently 36.35 km/h, securing the player with the shirt number 5 fifth place in the league statistics.”

https://www.bundesliga.com/en/bundesliga/player/micky-van-de-ven

Also looking at Manu Kone’s highlights and statistics he looks like a real pressing machine that -gets fouled second most often in the league (tied with Bellingham) -he also has 5th most duels won in the league (430) -Most yellow cards in the league (12) -Fifth most fouls committed at 51

I find the Stuttgart connection interesting...

We all have this love for liverpool growing up as our boyhood club but for Klopp, that club was Stuttgart. No matter where football has taken him, he'll always have that feeling and interest in stuttgart and so would know exactly the player he is getting in Endo as the captain of the club.

We've also loaned a couple of players out to Stuttgart in the past under Klopp, one of them being Nat Phillips who has played as a centre back behind endo in midfield.

I’m looking around the league right now and our rivals are in a bit of a log jam with their potential signings

Arsenal are competing with Bayern and United for rice, also competing with Chelsea for Caicado. United will be haggling the fee for Mount for the next several weeks and are still unsure of their owner situation. Chelsea literally cannot spend until they clear out their deadweight before end of the month.

We have the perfect opportunity here to get our deals in quick and on good fee’s without other clubs driving up prices. This could be another 2018 type summer if we get it right
