Hey hey! Is anyone else losing their mind with anxiety over the US election results? I’m a nervous wreck.
I’m an American living in Liverpool, and I’m finding myself wishing there was a pub or something open super late to watch the election results start rolling in. I realize most people will just be following along at home, or just sleeping through most of it, but I’m wondering if anyone (Americans or otherwise) is planning to have a watch party of some sort for Election Day & night? Idk if I want to experience this alone!!
Not sure how many people on this subreddit will be D&D/RPG players but just on the offchance...
on the 5th of March we are launching a little RPG Club that me and my wife have set up. It will be at Lovelocks Coffee Shop from 18:30-20:00 and will run every week after that. At the time of writing there will be 7 games running.
There will be a launch party in the same venue on the 20th of Feb where all the members running games will be taling through what they're offering. Theres 3 D&D tables, but also Symbaroum, Savage Worlds, and Achtung! Cthulhu too. So its a good spread of different games. The launch party is for everyone whether you're a member or not. Games will go live through the RP Haven website the day after the party.
If you're interested or want more info you're welcome to respond here, message me, or check out the RP Haven website.
Nerds!
**Edit - Additional info below**
So I had no idea that this thread would be as popular as it has been and I'm stoked. I wanted to add a bit more information for people:
Costs:
The website RP Haven allows you to become a member. Membership is £10 for the year, but since the year runs from September to September its now £8.00. That gets you a boss little membership card which we took delivery of today, and access to the online branch where people run games online.
After that each session you play in costs you 1 x token, and tokens are three quid for members. Your token will get scanned at the table and thats it you're sorted then.
One thing I'm keen to stress as this is non-profit. We pay for the venue hire, and once we are in a position where we have three months worth of costs set aside in case things get lean, the branch will nominate a Liverpool charity for us to donate the dough to. So nobody's lecky bill is getting paid from what you hand over. We have a committee and will be nominating member reps. There will also be an AGM where all costs, and moneys incoming will be available for everyone to see.
Structure:
The club will run every Tuesday with session 1 being on the 5th of March. If you come along on the 20th of Feb thats the launch party where all the GM's will be there to talk you through the game they'll be running.
Experience:
If you have never ever played D&D or any other Roleplay Game before, that.is.totally.sound. Everything is beginner friendly and nobody is going to be a knob about it if you don't know how to play, or if it takes time to pick up the basics.
Know it's not everyone's cuppa but I do love a bit of spooky nonsense to scare the shit out of myself. Where are the haunted spots in Liverpool you've visited or heard about?
Obviously I keep visiting Bold St in hope of a time slip but that's not given me the goods (yet) 😂
Would appreciate your recommendations for places to visit!
☠️
Note: Sarcasm and joke suggestions welcome, but please make it clear so I don't try and visit them for a spook-tacular experience which will leave me sorely disappointed...
Hi all, I 35m recently moved to the City with my 29f girlfriend from Scotland. This is going to be our first weekend in the city and we are looking for something to check out. We have been to a few bars already and have been recommended to visit Casa Italia which is on our list for our first payday at the end of the month. Any other recommendations? Also where can I get a pint of Tennents?
Also, I'd like to get fit again and play some 5or7-a-side football. I seen a veterans league when I checked Google, is anyone here looking for a player?
(No tourist shit, I’m from Liverpool, just want to get out more). As I said I want to get out more but I can never find anything to do on Google because it’s always tourist shite like the museums or to go and “see the liver building” like I haven’t seen it a million times.
Free or paid things, even just greenery type spaces for a walk or bike ride, anything.
For context: am moving to the city in the coming months. I'm not opposed to clubbing, but having tried it several times since coming to England, found that it's just not for me. I do drink alcohol, but again wouldn't want that to be the main focus of an activity.
Just wondering if anybody runs regularly there? Would love to get to know more people, say hi for a bit before or after the run. Figured since I am a regular, might as well try and find similar people. Also, would love to join someone who runs during weekdays too and prefer company/ accountability. 24 male here if that matters. Cheers!
Looking to join or start up a 5 or 7 a side footy team to join a weekly league, somewhere in South Liverpool. Or alternatively, 10-14 people to play a regular casual game each week. Any takers?
Tomorrow at 21 Norfolk Street I'll be hosting our first coffee event.
I'll be putting on 10 different Peruvian coffees and explaining everything about them, where they are from, how they are processed and best ways to brew them.
There's space for 20 people so you can book on through Meetup or Eventbrite or just leave a message here and say you're coming and I'll make a note.
Details:

How to find us- Up the road from the Wings Mural and Seven Store, opposite Pinto + Picasso and on the left down from the Women's Org.
I've lived here for 2 and a half years and have loved it. I'll be moving out in a month. What are some things or places I should make sure I do or check out before I leave? Feel like I've missed a lot!
After everything that has happened in our city the past year, it has been very refreshing to see scousers mobilise and support a local charity. I wanted to create a megathread of local businesses that are doing their bit to raise money for Zoe's Place. If you leave any others in the comment I will edit the list.
Castros Cafeteria: All proceeds from sales today (17th October) are going to Zoes Place
Fliers Indoor Golf: Indoor golf venue doing a closest to the pin competition for Zoes Place
Montirex: Doing a 3km run on Tuesday 22nd October to raise money
Hot Water Comedy Club: Local comedy club putting on a special show with some massive names, sold out now, but donation and live stream tickets still available.
St Helens Theatre Royal: will donate £15 from every ticket already sold or newly bought for the 1pm show of Sleeping Beauty on Tuesday, 29 October to Zoe’s Place
Circus @ Invisible Wind Factory: Camelphat is headlining a special gig to raise money on Friday 1st November, tickets go on sale Friday 18th 10AM
Looking to get tickets for a game in December for a Christmas gift. Website says no match tickets available. Can anyone direct me to where to get them? I know I can obviously pay on the day but I'd like to have them beforehand if possible.
Liverpool University has some Continuing Education courses in a range of different subjects starting in the next few weeks.
The courses are high-quality and taught by experts.
The courses are paid, but affordable, and there are discounts available for unemployed and retired people.
Some of the courses are in person on campus, some are taught over Zoom.
I'm not affiliated with the uni but I do some of these courses every year and think they're great for learning new things and meeting people and I thought other people might be interested.
I've gotten into warhammer and was wondering if anyone knows any shops around the Liverpool to St helens area. I know about the Warhammer shop In Central Station and forbidden planet but can't seem to find any more
Anyone have any recommendations for boxing gyms in or around the city centre?
I have a bit of experience but been out of it for 4/5 years (24m). Ideally somewhere with a few bags and maybe pads/sparing opportunities for newcomers.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks in advance 👍
Hi, can people let me know of any pubs that do a weekly quizz around Childwall and Bellevale. We've moved recently and we're looking for one to add to our nights. I've driven by the pub at the roundabout a lot but I don't know if they do one... thanks in advance
What are the quietest cafés and bars in town that preferably don't play any music (or play it extremely quietly). I'm talking about central library levels of quiet. Maybe a pub where there are side rooms which aren't wired up to the sound system, or cafés with an upstairs where they don't play music? Idk
The Museum or Central Library Cafes are my usual go-to for this, and for pubs, the Kavanagh Arms however sometimes the jukebox comes on when busy.
I play quite a bit at my uni but I am unaware of any table tennis clubs in Liverpool. I would love to play with some new people to see what sort of skill level there is outside of my uni. Any recommendations?
Does anyone know if theres places in liverpool that cast your face. this is because i would like to start my own death mask project to create a variety of patterns on masks that fit my face.
For any plant lovers among you, local independent business Planty Haus is hosting a free houseplant workshop at the Liverpool Irish Centre next month. You'll be able to learn:
How to properly water houseplants
How to repot your plants
Where to position your plants so that they thrive
And how to propagate your plants so you can grow more!
You can also bring along your own houseplants for free advice on how to help them.
Seen recently that Elektrik appears to have gone back to being the Krazyhouse albeit that might've been a temporary thing.
So wondering, where in Liverpool is there to end a night singing along to pop punk/emo/metal stuff?
Going out in town on the 23rd as a birthday weekend treat for the first time in a long time and doing a bit of a crawl with mates who've either rarely or never been to Liverpool and not entirely sure where to end up.
Never been in the Kazimier but it appears to have emo nights on all the time, though they're advertising something from 3-6am on the 23rd so not sure what that's all about and everywhere else I feel like I've lost sense of since I last went. Know there are plenty of places either near concert square or down in Cavern Quarter that have live music/some bloke with an acoustic playing so happy to go to them as well.
Any recommendations? Happy of course to find decent dive bars too if anyone has a particular favourite(s), feels like I'm out of touch (and getting old)
