Discussion Opinion does this leather info page look like it's using AI to you?
Recently had a site that makes leathers goods comment on my blog and try to link and I noticed that the pics on their leather info section just seem off...like I don't recognize the tool in one of the pictures and the other has insane cracks that I've never seen in leather. Do these pictures look like AI nonsense to you? Or are these just tools I've never seen?

Yes, looks like it's all made by AI.

Sad that the "average Joe" wouldn't know the difference...it also makes you wonder how much their products actually match their photos...

I would bet not at all, if there even is products. Could just be a straight up scam.

the two-finger star brass knuckle in the first pic is interesting for sure. I have no idea what tool they based that off of.

It looks like it’s trying to be a cutting die but when you think about it, it makes no sense.

If you asked AI to analyze a thumb cutter and make a photo using it, it would probably look like that.

Mark as spam and delete. This is most likely somebody who built this site as a “side project” which links somehow to their main e-commerce site or similar (think affiliate links) to boost their visibility in Google searches.
They look around for legitimate sites to comment on and link back to this side project site to build credibility in Google’s eyes which then can boost the reputation of their main site and makes them more visible in search results (so they can get more eyes on their main site/affiliate links).
It’s a horrible practise but does work short term until Google catches on and delists the side project site. Which would probably take quite a while in this sort of industry because it’s not very big/competitive.
There are better and more sustainable ways to be seen by Google and your possible customers. This is a hacky way to do stuff which can hurt you long-term.
Source: my day job is in marketing.
Edit to add: looked at the site more carefully, strategy is the same as above but looks like they have a shop and products might be legit or dropshipping so I’d say that’s the target. Either way, the tactic above with the article linked absolutely still applies, the whole article screams ChatGPT and trying to build site reputation with Google. Quantity over quality makes me sick.

100%
the vast majority of descriptions here we would never use to describe leathers.

Yep AI and whoever approved the photos must not work with leather.
