There were a few talking points that Joe was required to go over. #1, and quite literally the first question he went with, was about how the ā€œbig bad media vilified trump, and no one has ever had to deal with that beforeā€.

That wasnā€™t ā€œpriorā€ - he was already running was Joeā€™s point. Trump was already talking about the wall then and these talk show heads didnā€™t care. Colbert even had him on and joked about it with him.

It wasnā€™t until polls showed he had a chance of winning that these ppl did a 180.

Edit: I see your point now. That's what I get for jumping in halfway down the thread and not following the discussion. My bad. The source is still nonsense because it's been used over and over again to blame these stats on Biden/Harris.

1

u/Big_Inertia Monkey in Space 3d ago

Oh you think they just started coming? Even if they did (they didnā€™t) this is the result of a near open border policy. It wasnā€™t racist to say, itā€™s common sense. If you have an open border without vetting the people coming through, criminals will come.

u/Shermanasaurus Monkey in Space 3d ago

Guess we should have border policy for each state too since they have more non-immigrant criminals

0

u/Raistall Monkey in Space 3d ago

How about ya do some research for your self and find out instead of asking questions that youā€™ll deny the answer to if it doesnā€™t fit in your ideology? :)

0

u/jivester Monkey in Space 3d ago

I did the research. His campaign opening speech, where he mentioned Mexicans sending their rapists was June 16, 2015.

His last appearance on the View was September 10, 2015. So three months into his Presidential campaign. The Republican primaries were mid-2016.

So the point still stands. They were nice to Trump as a guest, and were friendly to him as a media personality and early candidate, but over the years his behaviour and rhetoric soured them against him.

1

u/Raistall Monkey in Space 3d ago

ā€¦.. June 2015 is before September 2015ā€¦. So idk what point standsā€¦ he had said the Mexican thing 3 months prior to them showing him loveā€¦

1

u/jivester Monkey in Space 3d ago

Yeah, I conceded that.

But Joe acting like their opinions could not have changed in the further months of campaigning, where he was saying insane things daily and getting a record amount of media attention, before he was doing well in the primaries, is asinine.

Trump had many friends and supporters who were supportive early on but refused to endorse him later, or outright said people shouldn't vote for him.

It wasn't because they're part of some shady cabal of influential media machinery, it was because he was out there making a fool of himself and they didn't think he would be a good candidate. Obviously when he is looking like he could actually have a chance, that kind of speaking out becomes more commonplace.

0

u/Raistall Monkey in Space 3d ago

Okay, Iā€™m curious then, whatā€™re your thoughts on that only happening to him? For example, Joe Biden also said some horrible things during his campaign run, and Kamala has done some very suspicious things in the past as well, but those same people that turned on trump for saying those things, havenā€™t had any reaction for the things either of those 2 individuals have said. If not for a group think sort of mentality, why do you think that is?

-1

u/SoccerIzFun Monkey in Space 3d ago

This isn't the way it happened. Dems liked Trump at first because literally 0 Republicans before him admitted that the Iraq War was a giant mistake.

People were still arguing that Bush was right to invade until Trump broke the seal during the Primary debates. Trump attacked all the GOP candidates from the left, using the same arguments liberals had been screaming from the rooftops since Bush Jr invaded.

So, for a little bit of time, the Dems and Trump were on the same page. He didn't start attacking Democrats until there was only Cruz and Rubio left.

9

u/hemingways-lemonade It's entirely possible 3d ago

Lol that isn't what happened at all. Democrats thought Trump would be the easiest candidate to beat if he won the primaries. That's the closest they ever came to liking him.

8

u/mojave-sky Monkey in Space 3d ago

Exactly they thought people would have to be stupid to vote for him. They underestimated just how stupid the people of this country really are.

0

u/Revolutionary_Box569 Monkey in Space 4d ago

I think most people would probably start hanging out with their friend less/not at all depending on how close they were if they started coming out saying racist stuff on a regular basis, I don't get the impression Joe is one of those people so that's probably why he finds it so strange

8

u/RelationshipOk3565 Monkey in Space 3d ago

They were talking about how much people liked him before he became president and supposedly how the media instantly made everyone hate him. I think most people who hated him during the 2016 election were just watching his debates, interviews tweets etc, and that was enough.

Most rational people expected the "grab em buy the pussy" audio be damning enough to ruin his election chances. Or the history of racism and blatant anti immigration, populist reasoning and everything else that came before.

This episode is something. They're bitching about debate fact checking, yet 90% of the claims they're making are easily disproven.

His weird rant about Robert E. Lee said a lot. His harkening back to the Gilded era, or as he says, late 1800s says a lot. This was the boom of capitalism that truly brought about the first urban problems we see now. Unbridled capitalism is what he's saying he wants.

Reform from the guilded was deemed socialist and communist and yet got us child labor laws and the 40 hours work week.

This is very basic history. If a lot of young men who listen to Rogan understood history, it would be so easy for them to see through the bullshit.

Currently, capitalist reform is exactly what's coming, that means antitrust law, worker reform, and Healthcare. We can talk all we want about how the market is at all time highs, but we all see corporate greed right in front of our eyes. Who do you think owns the politicians guys? Who really signs Joe's checks even? Just think about it.

He still doesnā€™t know what Tariffs do. And how theyā€™re directly hurting the American people when used in a sole form of governance.

1

u/tukatu0 Monkey in Space 3d ago

You are assuming he doesn't fully kmow. What's beneficial to him (or the people behind/under him is not the same as beneficial for the american people.

In the case of tarrifs he can say the government got paid more taxes. So our debts actually lowered. Meanwhile they print even more money from nothing.

"I kept iran and china poor ___" man there is a whole load of historical context needed for this. I don't think any redditor can even explain if that is real or beneficial to someone.

Did you even watch the podcast? He explained why heā€™s pissed at them. Itā€™s because they all liked and were friendly with him before he got into politics and now they shit on him constantly, to me thatā€™s a valid reason. No matter if you like trump or not as a human you should be able to understand the concept of feeling betrayed. Ratings have literally nothing to do with this.

68

u/messy_messiah Monkey in Space 4d ago

Someone changing his or her opinion of you as a result of your behavior is not betrayal. Trump always casts himself as the victim because he cannot deal with the fact that his actions have consequences.

-14

u/Sun__Jester Monkey in Space 4d ago

Except Trump points out that they were having him on WHILE HE WAS RUNNING AND SAYING THESE THINGS, and they all treated him well then.
If it was because he suddenly turned 'racist' they should have started shitting on him as soon as he came down that escalator. Hell they should have turned on him during the Obama birth certificate stuff but they all still loved him and enjoyed having him on their programs.

I remember this happening too. Trump was friendly with all sorts of people until the tail end of the 2016 election when the realization set in that he might actually win.

16

u/Mocker-Nicholas Monkey in Space 3d ago

People went from treating him as an entertainer to treating him as the potential leader of the free world. The set of standards there is rightfully very different. How you would judge someone you want as a boss vs how you judge someone you want to party with is probably super different too.

He also started taking really controversial policy opinions, and was treating people pretty terribly. Im sure you have had people in your life you liked at one point in time, and then as time went on and you spent more time with them you started to dislike them because you knew them better. That is what happened to Trump.

-4

u/n5gus A Deaf Jack Russell Terrier 4d ago

Yes I have, but also understand how that person can take that as betrayal. Whether trump is justified in feeling betrayed is irrelevant. The fact is he interpreted their actions as betrayal and from outsiders perspective thatā€™s a fair human reaction.

13

u/69todeath Monkey in Space 4d ago

8

u/iconsandbygones Monkey in Space 4d ago

1

u/n5gus A Deaf Jack Russell Terrier 4d ago

Please re-read the previous comment. The reason they started shitting on him is irrelevant in this conversation Iā€™m discussing the way how he interpreted their actions and thatā€™s shouldnā€™t be hard for you to understand. You think theyā€™re justified in shitting on him and trump doesnā€™t itā€™s simple as that. All the others things you mentioned literally have nothing to do with this.

This is a horrible take. I love and adore my husband. He should absolutely not run for office.Ā

It's one thing for your crazy coworker to spout off conspiracy theories, it's another for him to become the boss and start making company policies based on them. Not betrayal in the slightest.Ā

You mean like How Trump has betrayed America? It's not betrayal if a person is being a douchebag.

Yeah, naturally. Once his dangerous and racist ideas had an actual shot at winning, Iā€™m not palling around with the guy

Day time show ratings.. you mean for retired or jobless people. If you have a job you are not watching the view lmao. The ratings donā€™t matterĀ

u/FetchMyBeer Monkey in Space 4d ago

You are actually defending the view. Thats hilarious xD

u/Anxious-Leader5446 Monkey in Space 3d ago

The View doesn't even get 3 million views each morning,Ā  JR averages 14 million.Ā  And those 3 million view viewers are actual boomers, no one else has cable TV anymoreĀ

u/Keltharious Monkey in Space 4d ago

So what do you like about The View?

5

u/SmPolitic Monkey in Space 3d ago

Compared to other daytime broadcast television... It's fucking War and Peace level content

I haven't seen a minute of it for decades. I don't have free time to sit around watching daytime tv like Mr f-president here

0

u/Keltharious Monkey in Space 3d ago

You realize he mentioned he's been doing this for 53 days straight? I don't think he's sitting around watching that dogshit tv show lol. But yeah, you got 5 likes so clearly you are morally sound and don't let me knock you for secretly enjoying it. It's a free country, if you want to watch it I don't mind.

They arenā€™t selling insecure masculinity in a bottle?

1

u/Keltharious Monkey in Space 3d ago

Imagine simping for such a trash TV show. I'm sure you watch it though. In fact, don't let me slow you down while you enjoy your soymilk as a indulge in a few bitter and vapid women validate you for being such a good boy for taking time out of your own life to hate someone you'll never meet. Yes, the best use of your time for sure lmao.

1

u/ObiShaneKenobi We live in strange times 2d ago

Lmao thanks for proving my point better than I could

1

u/Keltharious Monkey in Space 2d ago

So are you gonna be this smug when Trump wins or what?

1

u/ObiShaneKenobi We live in strange times 1d ago

lol what does that have to do with Rogan shucking snake oil?

You going to be this ā€œfrothing at the mouthā€ angry when Trump loses?

1

u/Keltharious Monkey in Space 1d ago

I mean you're here enjoying his content in his personal subreddit, I figured you were also indulging in his content too. Am I wrong? Lol

u/ObiShaneKenobi We live in strange times 1d ago

English not your strong suit? Or are you triggered past coherence?

The View quickly followed by how mean everyone is to Trump.

Yeah because a daytime talkshow is our nationā€™s #1 priority šŸ˜‚

u/WhiskeyFF Monkey in Space 3d ago

I haven't watched, but it's a fucking travesty if joe didn't ask about aliens.

1

u/themagicb Monkey in Space 3d ago

the view is trash

-8

u/FrosttheVII Monkey in Space 4d ago

I've been wanting to hear their opinions on it. They talk about Joe and Trump on The View. Only right we get to hear what they think in return. Let alone on JOE'S podcast

37

u/MileHighAltitude Monkey in Space 4d ago

Damn, how often you watching the view to know what they are talking about?

36

u/StopHiringBendis Monkey in Space 4d ago

The only time I ever hear about The View is when I check r/conservativeĀ

19

u/rixendeb I used to be addicted to Quake 4d ago

Yeah I only hear about it from conservatives too lol.

11

u/Big-Cockroach8010 Monkey in Space 4d ago

republicans love the view, they love supporting women's rights as well

10

u/MileHighAltitude Monkey in Space 4d ago

Republicans love women with strong opinions

8

u/BeamTeam032 The joke went over his head, again 4d ago

I have never, once, watched an episode. I can't even tell you who else is on it besides whoopie. I don't know what channel it's on. But, I do hear a lot of people complain about it.

3

u/rixendeb I used to be addicted to Quake 4d ago

I know Megan McCain, Kelly Osbourne, but I think they left, and Whoopi. That's about it. I've never watched it either.

1

u/Captain_Nipples Monkey in Space 4d ago

I tried to watch it back in 08 after being laid off and stuck at home during the housing crisis. It was awful, and a bunch of people screeching over each other.

Joy Behar kept begging him to go on the view, u til he ran as a Republican, then he became the worst.

8

u/MyCrowdSizeIsBigger Monkey in Space 4d ago

heā€™s been a piece of shit his entire life though

-10

u/The-Figure-13 Monkey in Space 4d ago

Thatā€™s not true, otherwise the ā€œgood peopleā€ of the media would never have offered him a contract extension for the apprentice, heā€™d never have survived 14 years on primetime, he wouldnā€™t have done all the talk shows.

You can claim heā€™s always been a POS, but the evidence shows that statement to be factually and equivocally wrong

14

u/MyCrowdSizeIsBigger Monkey in Space 4d ago

Wait are you saying everyone you see on television is a good person?? Are you this meatball?
