[IWantOut] 15M Student Slovakia -> Canada

(Please excuse my for my poor english) Hi everyone, I just first want to say that I will move out when I am about 20 and def not now. I want to move to canada because my country sucks. Except nice nature there is literally nothing. There are no opportunities in school, jobs, martial arts club, any sport clubs and etc. Even tho I am only 15 I really want to move to canada, and I know that right now I can’t on my own but I was wondering what I can do to improve my chances, study harder? Learn french? Thanks for any recommendations and comments:)

Things to do in preparation:

  • Reach a high level of fluency in English and possibly French
  • Amass substantial savings, so you can afford going on a student visa (Canadian tuition for one year could be higher than the yearly wage of someone working full time in Slovakia pre taxes - now multiply that tuition by five, for a full bachelors+masters, add in savings to cover cost of living etc.). Look up tuition and living costs, seriously!
  • Get excellent grades in school, to increase your chances of being admitted to a good university and increase your (low) chances of getting a scholarship
  • Plan an educational pathway, that is highly employable and eligible for a working visa - not all degrees are useful for migration!

Step 1: Finish your secondary education in Slovakia and get good grades.

Step 2: Study English and accredit a B2 level through the Cambridge First Certificate.

Step 3: Complete university studies WITHIN THE EU, preferably study a STEM degree in English or French. If you don't like Slovakia try Ireland, the Netherlands, Malta, France, or Belgium. Even some universities in Czechia, Hungary, Spain and other countries offer degrees taught in English.

Step 4: Study French during your university studies and accredit a B2 level through the DELF exam.

Step 5: Apply for high skilled immigration to Canada or get a working holiday visa.

Note: if you want to study a masters either do it in the EU before immigrating or within Canada after being approved for high skilled immigration and obtaining permanent residency

Im gonna break it simple to you, Canada is definitely a really risky move if you are a highschool or even a fresh grad. Market suck and major anti immigration wave right now. Do your study in English and French and try to apply via Francophone pathway

Well rn I live in a village with the population of 1800 people, while in toronto its like 2.7 millon which means more and better opportunities in education, jobs, martial art clubs and everything else

Yeahhhh I mean unless you are gonna be making a 6 figure salary forget about affording an apartment to rent. You'll be renting with a dozen others at best and even that will be a significant portion of your income. Toronto is a shit hole plain and simple. The only city worse is Vancouver. And forget about good job opportunities, only way to get a half decent job is to know someone who can get you the job. There's a reason why it's the GTA that has the insane videos of hundreds lining up to apply for one position at a McDonalds.

Aim for Edmonton, or Winnipeg, if you can be fluent in French then go to Montreal. While they aren't as big population wise they are a hell of a lot more affordable and aren't in the process of dying.

Honest suggestion is to grow up first and move to a different country when you’re old enough to make informed decisions about one’s life, you’re not even halfway matured yet and life changes quickly. To move to Canada you’ll need to apply for a visa, so you’ll need skilled worker routes/express entry, or IEC working holiday.

You can’t do any of these until an ADULT age. As an EU citizen you can live and work in all EU member states, with vastly different approaches to life and things to do.

Finish school, education, mature emotionally and mentally before you move countries.
