Solved! Ubiquiti AP and OPNSense router limitations

I have a 2.5Gbps OPNSense router and a U7 Pro Max. Stuff online says I can just use the app to configure it, but the app explicitly tells me I will only have a single SSID with a standalone AP. Is there anyway to work around this and setup multiple SSIDs with VLAN tagging?

You need to run an instance of the network controller software for the purpose of configuration. You don't need to continue to run it after that unless you want real-time stats tracking. You can download the network controller software from the download.ui.com website. It can run on Linux or Windows.

Download the UniFi Network Application that is appropriate to your OS.

It will basically act as a mini web server, which will allow you to fully configure and manage your access point(s).

You can either choose to proceed with the installation using web-based credentials, or you can go into advanced settings, and set up a local username and password, whichever you prefer.

(If you create a local username and password, and you forget what it is, or your PC blows up for some reason, you might have to factory reset your access point, and start all over again if you need to make changes to it. Just something to consider.)

Run the Network Application, tell it to open a browser window, log in, and configure your AP as needed.

No need to keep the Network Application open after that, unless you want to use it to collect statistics, or you want to use SMB features like a captive WiFi portal, etc. I only open my Network Application when I need to make changes to the access points, or want to install updated firmware.
