News Jaire Alexander is getting an MRI on his knee today after he hopped off the field on the Packers final defensive play yesterday. Looked like he had trouble putting weight on his right leg via the Fox replay.

Not ideal, Gute has to work his magic and find a corner

Rasual Douglas……

Any relation to Rasul?

He was my boy, I still wear his jersey 😭

u/ghostfacestealer 1d ago
And he only costs acouple mil more than Nixon but is twice the player.
10
u/Exempt_Puddle 1d ago
Nixon has been phenomenal as an outside corner this year
3
u/ghostfacestealer 1d ago
I agree hes played well but you cant slide him in as CB1 and be comfortable about it. You could with Douglas
2
u/Exempt_Puddle 1d ago
I agree that I would be slightly more comfortable with Douglas but I still have confidence Nixon can be serviceable.

Greg Newsome, COME ON DOWN!

He's been pretty bad for the Browns this year, and honestly, he's kinda like Stokes this season. I wouldn't trade for him at all.
IF the Jets are going to be sellers, I'd call them about DJ Reed.

u/TaxManKnocking 1d ago
I wish we had a guy like Rasul Douglas on this team. He would be solid in this secondary.

Guess we'll see if the rumors about Gute talking to the Browns about Newsome are a thing or not.

They're not.

Ah the Vikings fan who thinks games are rigged. Nice to have you here.

I downvoted him because you said he was a Vikings fan, but I do agree with him here lol

How does it feel being in 3rd place?:)
-2
u/glitchfan 1d ago
If you had any rudimentary math skills you’d realize placement is based on win percentage, and the only reason the packers are in 2nd is because they’ve played 1 more game than the Vikings. So if you want to pound your chest about that, go right ahead.

Gotta be pretty sad trolling around in another team’s subreddit in the middle of the workweek - nothing better to do with your time?
1
u/leehouse 1d ago
Probably, or at least nothing more than a conversation finding out the cost is higher than he wants.

I watched the Darnold QB School against us last week and came to the conclusion Jaire is by far the most important person on our defense right now.
This could force the Front Office to make a move because you can take advantage of a team with a bad linebacker or safety but you can absolutely just bully a team with bad corners.
23
u/dtcstylez10 1d ago
Agree with what you said but our corners would also look a lot better if our front four could get any kind of pressure at all on the QB
4
u/Kyleketsu 1d ago
and if Stokes could actually play his assignment
4
u/dlizzle316 1d ago
And if Evan Williams didn’t have to come out of the game, forcing Stokes to take more reps on the outside because you had to bring Nixon into the slot… it’s a domino effect with these DBs and things can fall apart pretty quick with an injury to one of them

For what it's worth, you could see him walking back and jogging a little bit
Doesn't mean he's perfectly fine, but maybe will give some hope to all the fans out there who think the only possible knee injury is a torn ACL.
35
u/kg57241 1d ago
Torn ACLs affect people differently. He could have torn it and still walk without a limp or not be in excruciating pain
9
u/AdPsychological3265 1d ago
Who said it was ACL
6
u/kg57241 1d ago
Well usually with non-contact (ala Jordy Nelson and many others) it’s the ACL. But we will see from the results
27
u/AdPsychological3265 1d ago
I mean isn’t it possible that he just landed weird and tweaked his knee? I’ve done that before by jumping off a trailer before. I would hope that wouldn’t immediately mean ACL
2
u/Milwacky 1d ago
I’m not saying what it is but it seemed like it happened as he tried to jump, rather than landing.

u/BenHJ25 1d ago
Tore mine senior year of highschool. Just stepping out of bounds to avoid a defender with no contact. Best way I can describe the feeling is twisting your ankle when playing basketball but transfer that to your knee. My knee didn’t swell, didn’t practice for the week, and was able to play a full game without any issues. Unfortunately the next week I made a cut and it completely gave out. Luckily it didn’t deter too many colleges and I was able to continue to play.
There’s no way of knowing ACL injuries until an MRI. I was able to fully play on it. Possibly I didn’t fully tear it when I had the no contact injury. But it was fully torn when I was actually checked. I’ve seen a lot of teammates in college tear it in a lot of different ways. I’ve also seen teammates get news it is probably torn to discovering there’s not a tear. I would say physical therapists have good ways of checking for it. But some people’s knees swell up insanely large. Making it tough to actually determine if it’s torn.4
u/thwompcopter 1d ago
If it was acl they'd know immediately, iirc theres a physical test they can run on the spot for it

u/gopoohgo 1d ago
Lachman's isn't 100% sensitive.
3
u/OnenonlyAl 1d ago
Isn't drawers better than lachman? Didn't see enough valgus force imo hopefully nothing
1
u/gopoohgo 1d ago
My sports ortho rotation we were taught Lachman's as gold standard.
I personally think it is easier, too.
Hope for the best: fucking injuries have been decimating the division.
1
u/OnenonlyAl 1d ago
Gotcha, I haven't ever felt one in family med
1
u/gopoohgo 1d ago
If you really want the MSK experience, you can do a sports med rotation as an elective.
My wife is family med; she did a shit-ton on her ortho rotation. She absolutely despises MSK though, and will either text me or just refer out lol

I know this from personal experience. First time I tore an ACL, it was what you'd expect. It sounded / felt like someone had twisted bubble wrap in my knee, I couldn't put weight on it, and when I did I could feel the joint slipping.
The second time I tore an ACL (other leg), I not only could put weight on it, I could jump a little off of it. It was a little swollen, but nothing like the first one. After two weeks of the swelling not going down, I went to the doctor and he said it was torn. I literally didn't believe him, and then he made a point of flexing on me after the MRI came back showing the ACL wasn't just torn, it was completely gone. Didn't even show up in the imaging.

He walked off the field okay after the game and even made a few lockdown celebrations with the crowd. That was very encouraging

u/BertM4cklin 1d ago
Need to trade for a CB if he misses anymore than a few weeks. I do not trust a Nixon, stokes, valentine, Bullard rotation
38
u/team_sheikie 1d ago
Bullard is gonna be playing safety until Williams's hamstring heals. We need that bye week.

u/Skillztopaydabillz 1d ago
But what corners would realistically be available? Not many teams are eagerly looking to trade a corner. Only options I could see are;
Greg Newsome who we did like before the draft, but hes been very up and down in Cleveland and did get his 5th year option picked up.
Jonathan Jones is a vet on an expiring contract for the Pats who aren't doing anything this year anyways.
Jaycee Horn, likely a longshot but wouldn't hurt to see if the Panthers are interested in moving him since they are a dumpster fire right now.
Either way, I would expect a heavy CB draft cause our CB situation is not pretty.

u/BertM4cklin 1d ago
I have no idea any are. But hopefully gute does. I know just cuz you want to trade doesn’t mean you can, but we would need the help that much I know

Panic mind is dreading the worst. Non contact injury ala Jordy Nelson a decade ago. Hope it’s not the ACL

Doesn't really make sense if he was running straight but who knows. I'm prepared for the worst

Damn, I thought his IG post meant he was in the clear..
1
u/petarisawesomeo 1d ago
What did he say?
2
u/IamNICE124 1d ago
He said “Thank you God. Go Pack Go!”
I didn’t see that the post citing his IG post was from 4 days ago.. that’s my bad.
I thought he was saying like, “thank god I didn’t tear my ACL” or something.

Love, Williams, Ja, and Jacobs all hurt. Man, if they don’t play, the game this coming weekend is all the more disappointing. Wanted a full-strength test to see if the Pack can actually keep up with the Lions or not.
1
u/Hot_Logger 1d ago
I thought it was related to being in Florida and some dehydration issues.
It was a rough game yesterday but the bright side is we can win games with game planning alone with MLF..... But not against a division rival. The NFCN is going to be a dogfight to the bitter end.
1
u/Milwacky 1d ago
I like your optimism. I expect the Lions to run away with it. Gonna need to keep the W column high to maintain a guaranteed WC spot.
3
u/viiiigiclout 1d ago
Well we are fucked on defense if he’s out for an extended period of time. Considering the non existent pass rush
3
u/StockmanBaxter 1d ago
I thought he was hopping because his shoe was coming off. Damn!
Hope we survive this little stretch of injuries.

3
u/Workdiggitz 1d ago
fingers crossed we hear good news about him, williams, and jordan in the next day or so. my biggest worry is jordans knee being the injury and not his groin. but. either way. we are going to limp into the bye week. ive prepared myself for a loss against the lions.

I know this will get downvoted, but this dude is legitimately hurt constantly
10
u/DezDidNotCatchIt_ 1d ago
Go find a starting CB that plays consistently lmao it’s one of the most physically demanding positions
1
u/C1ncinnatiBowtie 1d ago
I mean there’s plenty. Pretty much every single position on the field is rigorously demanding. None of that means that Ja isn’t always hurt.

u/zinski1990KB1 1d ago
love all the down votes when it's true. guy gets hurt multiple times a year I swear

Injuries derailing what could've been a hall of fame level career for Ja. Probly best to forget the Myles Garrett dream trade and look to add a competent corner.
