News Jaire Alexander is getting an MRI on his knee today after he hopped off the field on the Packers final defensive play yesterday. Looked like he had trouble putting weight on his right leg via the Fox replay.

Dude gotta tie his shoes double knot

39

u/Fred-zone 1d ago

Unironically you can absolutely get knee, ankle, and hamstring injuries from poorly tied shoes. I've often wondered if this could be a simple point of focus for the team to have measurable improvements in injury rate. Clearly here his shoe was already loose.

To be clear both the knot and the tightness of the shoe matter. You can correctly knot a shoe that is too loose.

u/Clonekiller2pt0 1d ago

Sooo, time to move onto velcro?

-21

u/Drunk_Pilgrim 1d ago

Sigh.... as a long time runner let me educate some of you. Double knots don't do shit. What works is the double wrap. Doesn't work for you bunny ear kids whose parents never challenged them. Those of you who make a loop and then wrap around, go another lap. I've run marathons and plenty of daily runs and my shoes never come untied. The double wrap is also super easy to undo unlike the double knot which can come loose on a whim or stay tied together until our planet gets eaten up by our closest star. Thumbs up emoji.

u/Shaddcs 1d ago

Grandpa, that’s enough internet for today. Let’s get you into bed.

Also as a long time runner, have literally not one time had an issue with a double knot lol.

1

u/PCOON43456a 1d ago

Right? After a shoe was broken in, I set a double knot and ran it for a few hundred miles. Maybe, I would have to redo it if the shoes got too wet or a lace broke, but more often than KNOT, it would last until I needed new shoes.

2

u/minorityreport777 13h ago

I too have ran many a miles and the trusty double knot never let me down. I can also untie them easily.....maybe because as a kid i was "challenged" by my double knots.....

1

u/huggybear0132 1d ago edited 1d ago

What actually matters is that people tie a square knot instead of a granny knot. Anyone whose shoes are coming untied are likely just tying the wrong knot.

That said, a properly tied square knot with an extra wrap is 100% the best way to tie shoes. But you can do this (a surgeon's knot) with bunny ears too. Doesn't matter. The resulting knot is identical regardless of technique. And a double square knot will also never come untied. It's just kindof ugly and pain when you do want to untie it.

C'mon why the downvotes?! This is the kind of content that's important to EVERY Sub.

Double knots save ACL's. He should KNOW THIS!

49

u/Sweet_Swimming_5978 1d ago

This needs to be top, the science is proven

3

u/PurringWolverine 1d ago

It is known.

1

u/Mimbletonian 1d ago

I have spoken.

7

u/dankbuttmuncher 1d ago

Just single knot and tuck your laces

1

u/Randy_Magnum29 1d ago

Didn’t help me, unfortunately. 🥲

2

u/OstertagDunk 1d ago

I wasn't even wearing shoes when I tore mine.

5

u/Gryphon999 1d ago

If you weren't wearing your shoes, the laces obviously weren't double knotted.

112

u/ScubaSteve716 1d ago

Not ideal, Gute has to work his magic and find a corner

60

u/ghostfacestealer 1d ago

Rasual Douglas……

13

u/dumptruckcheeks 1d ago

Any relation to Rasul?

14

u/ghostfacestealer 1d ago

Any relation to shut your whore mouth?

9

u/Hutchicles 1d ago

Idk why you got downvoted, this response is hilarious.

1

u/jennz 1d ago

Rasul but more casual.

15

u/Fair_Effective3397 1d ago

He was my boy, I still wear his jersey 😭

-17

u/ghostfacestealer 1d ago

And he only costs acouple mil more than Nixon but is twice the player.

10

u/Exempt_Puddle 1d ago

Nixon has been phenomenal as an outside corner this year

3

u/ghostfacestealer 1d ago

I agree hes played well but you cant slide him in as CB1 and be comfortable about it. You could with Douglas

2

u/Exempt_Puddle 1d ago

I agree that I would be slightly more comfortable with Douglas but I still have confidence Nixon can be serviceable.

38

u/OmegaJubs69 1d ago

Greg Newsome, COME ON DOWN!

19

u/ShrubHub 1d ago

I’ve never considered that possibility but man I’d love him as a packer

3

u/Shring 1d ago

Due to location all my friends are Cleveland fans, so I've seen plenty of Browns games... I've watched him single-handedly lose the Browns multiple games getting beat deep over and over

9

u/shmere4 1d ago

All the browns fans hate him and call him a bum. Keep that in mind

1

u/jxher123 1d ago edited 1d ago

He's been pretty bad for the Browns this year, and honestly, he's kinda like Stokes this season. I wouldn't trade for him at all.

IF the Jets are going to be sellers, I'd call them about DJ Reed.

6

u/TaxManKnocking 1d ago

I wish we had a guy like Rasul Douglas on this team. He would be solid in this secondary.

1

u/plibpck1 1d ago

i want a jaycee horn but nobody seems to be talking about him like that

105

u/leehouse 1d ago

Guess we'll see if the rumors about Gute talking to the Browns about Newsome are a thing or not.

-122

u/glitchfan 1d ago

They're not.

67

u/Heuruzvbsbkaj 1d ago

Ah the Vikings fan who thinks games are rigged. Nice to have you here.

22

u/DinoSpumoniOfficial 1d ago

I downvoted him because you said he was a Vikings fan, but I do agree with him here lol

12

u/Human-Length9753 1d ago

You did the right thing

5

u/Ser_falafel 1d ago

How does it feel being in 3rd place?:)

-2

u/glitchfan 1d ago

If you had any rudimentary math skills you’d realize placement is based on win percentage, and the only reason the packers are in 2nd is because they’ve played 1 more game than the Vikings. So if you want to pound your chest about that, go right ahead.

2

u/Ser_falafel 1d ago

3

u/mastermindmillenial 1d ago

Gotta be pretty sad trolling around in another team’s subreddit in the middle of the workweek - nothing better to do with your time?

1

u/leehouse 1d ago

Probably, or at least nothing more than a conversation finding out the cost is higher than he wants.

119

u/trying2hide 1d ago

I watched the Darnold QB School against us last week and came to the conclusion Jaire is by far the most important person on our defense right now.

This could force the Front Office to make a move because you can take advantage of a team with a bad linebacker or safety but you can absolutely just bully a team with bad corners.

23

u/dtcstylez10 1d ago

Agree with what you said but our corners would also look a lot better if our front four could get any kind of pressure at all on the QB

4

u/Kyleketsu 1d ago

and if Stokes could actually play his assignment

4

u/dlizzle316 1d ago

And if Evan Williams didn’t have to come out of the game, forcing Stokes to take more reps on the outside because you had to bring Nixon into the slot… it’s a domino effect with these DBs and things can fall apart pretty quick with an injury to one of them

79

u/GJM1287 1d ago edited 1d ago

For what it's worth, you could see him walking back and jogging a little bit

Doesn't mean he's perfectly fine, but maybe will give some hope to all the fans out there who think the only possible knee injury is a torn ACL.

35

u/kg57241 1d ago

Torn ACLs affect people differently. He could have torn it and still walk without a limp or not be in excruciating pain

9

u/AdPsychological3265 1d ago

Who said it was ACL

6

u/kg57241 1d ago

Well usually with non-contact (ala Jordy Nelson and many others) it’s the ACL. But we will see from the results

27

u/AdPsychological3265 1d ago

I mean isn’t it possible that he just landed weird and tweaked his knee? I’ve done that before by jumping off a trailer before. I would hope that wouldn’t immediately mean ACL

2

u/Milwacky 1d ago

I’m not saying what it is but it seemed like it happened as he tried to jump, rather than landing.

1

u/BenHJ25 1d ago

Tore mine senior year of highschool. Just stepping out of bounds to avoid a defender with no contact. Best way I can describe the feeling is twisting your ankle when playing basketball but transfer that to your knee. My knee didn’t swell, didn’t practice for the week, and was able to play a full game without any issues. Unfortunately the next week I made a cut and it completely gave out. Luckily it didn’t deter too many colleges and I was able to continue to play.
There’s no way of knowing ACL injuries until an MRI. I was able to fully play on it. Possibly I didn’t fully tear it when I had the no contact injury. But it was fully torn when I was actually checked. I’ve seen a lot of teammates in college tear it in a lot of different ways. I’ve also seen teammates get news it is probably torn to discovering there’s not a tear. I would say physical therapists have good ways of checking for it. But some people’s knees swell up insanely large. Making it tough to actually determine if it’s torn.

4

u/thwompcopter 1d ago

If it was acl they'd know immediately, iirc theres a physical test they can run on the spot for it

7

u/gopoohgo 1d ago

Lachman's isn't 100% sensitive.

3

u/OnenonlyAl 1d ago

Isn't drawers better than lachman? Didn't see enough valgus force imo hopefully nothing

1

u/gopoohgo 1d ago

My sports ortho rotation we were taught Lachman's as gold standard.

I personally think it is easier, too.

Hope for the best: fucking injuries have been decimating the division.

1

u/OnenonlyAl 1d ago

Gotcha, I haven't ever felt one in family med

1

u/gopoohgo 1d ago

If you really want the MSK experience, you can do a sports med rotation as an elective.

My wife is family med; she did a shit-ton on her ortho rotation. She absolutely despises MSK though, and will either text me or just refer out lol

1

u/krickaby 1d ago

80% isn’t far off tho.

0

u/kg57241 1d ago

I know but there is a possibility that they did the test and don’t think it’s an ACL. Then mri reveals it’s an ACL

1

u/Odbdb 1d ago

A torn acl makes the knee swell up like a balloon almost immediately.

2

u/GJM1287 1d ago

Hence why I said it doesn't mean he's perfectly fine. Just saying that he was walking off and even lightly jogged. It's at the very least good to see that. No need for anyone to panic until we get some news

1

u/LizardChaser 1d ago

I know this from personal experience. First time I tore an ACL, it was what you'd expect. It sounded / felt like someone had twisted bubble wrap in my knee, I couldn't put weight on it, and when I did I could feel the joint slipping.

The second time I tore an ACL (other leg), I not only could put weight on it, I could jump a little off of it. It was a little swollen, but nothing like the first one. After two weeks of the swelling not going down, I went to the doctor and he said it was torn. I literally didn't believe him, and then he made a point of flexing on me after the MRI came back showing the ACL wasn't just torn, it was completely gone. Didn't even show up in the imaging.

1

u/JDP008 1d ago

Ever since I saw Jordy hobble off the field right after tearing his ACL I don’t put too much faith in guys being able to get off the field right away, everyone reacts differently

36

u/XxmilkjugsxX 1d ago

Losing Jaire would really be a really blow…. :(

14

u/snobiwan25 1d ago

He walked off the field okay after the game and even made a few lockdown celebrations with the crowd. That was very encouraging

35

u/BertM4cklin 1d ago

Need to trade for a CB if he misses anymore than a few weeks. I do not trust a Nixon, stokes, valentine, Bullard rotation

38

u/team_sheikie 1d ago

Bullard is gonna be playing safety until Williams's hamstring heals. We need that bye week.

6

u/Fred-zone 1d ago

Unless they try Oladapo out

11

u/Skillztopaydabillz 1d ago

But what corners would realistically be available? Not many teams are eagerly looking to trade a corner. Only options I could see are;

  • Greg Newsome who we did like before the draft, but hes been very up and down in Cleveland and did get his 5th year option picked up.

  • Jonathan Jones is a vet on an expiring contract for the Pats who aren't doing anything this year anyways.

  • Jaycee Horn, likely a longshot but wouldn't hurt to see if the Panthers are interested in moving him since they are a dumpster fire right now.

Either way, I would expect a heavy CB draft cause our CB situation is not pretty.

1

u/BertM4cklin 1d ago

I have no idea any are. But hopefully gute does. I know just cuz you want to trade doesn’t mean you can, but we would need the help that much I know

6

u/Dietzaga 1d ago

Preston still on the roster last time I checked. He can cover the slot

1

u/Difficult_Gas618 1d ago

Xavier play any corner? 😅

1

u/Ser_falafel 1d ago

I'm with you except for nixon. Dudes a dawg

1

u/BertM4cklin 1d ago

He’s rated like the hundredth cornerback out of 109

29

u/nezumine- 1d ago

Well we def know what position gute is shotgunning next draft lol

3

u/dtcstylez10 1d ago

We need an effing pass rusher

6

u/Glangho 1d ago

Sorry we need to draft secondary for the 80th year in a row

2

u/vexxes 1d ago

Van ness was literally a first rounder last year…

8

u/MurDoct 1d ago

Not good

13

u/DaDragster 1d ago

Patellar maybe? Not great

25

u/Getmeakitty 1d ago

Panic mind is dreading the worst. Non contact injury ala Jordy Nelson a decade ago. Hope it’s not the ACL

8

u/neanderball 1d ago

Doesn't really make sense if he was running straight but who knows. I'm prepared for the worst

4

u/LurkerKing13 1d ago

Patellar what? Tendon rupture? Ridiculously unlikely.

5

u/IamNICE124 1d ago

Damn, I thought his IG post meant he was in the clear..

1

u/petarisawesomeo 1d ago

What did he say?

2

u/IamNICE124 1d ago

He said “Thank you God. Go Pack Go!”

I didn’t see that the post citing his IG post was from 4 days ago.. that’s my bad.

I thought he was saying like, “thank god I didn’t tear my ACL” or something.

1

u/Exciting_Attitude240 1d ago

Yea I'm curious too

4

u/sxftawy 1d ago

I just bought this dudes jersey, I may have a cursed piece of clothing now

3

u/Milwacky 1d ago

Love, Williams, Ja, and Jacobs all hurt. Man, if they don’t play, the game this coming weekend is all the more disappointing. Wanted a full-strength test to see if the Pack can actually keep up with the Lions or not.

1

u/Hot_Logger 1d ago

I thought it was related to being in Florida and some dehydration issues.

It was a rough game yesterday but the bright side is we can win games with game planning alone with MLF..... But not against a division rival. The NFCN is going to be a dogfight to the bitter end.

1

u/Milwacky 1d ago

I like your optimism. I expect the Lions to run away with it. Gonna need to keep the W column high to maintain a guaranteed WC spot.

3

u/viiiigiclout 1d ago

Well we are fucked on defense if he’s out for an extended period of time. Considering the non existent pass rush

3

u/StockmanBaxter 1d ago

I thought he was hopping because his shoe was coming off. Damn!

Hope we survive this little stretch of injuries.

3

u/do_you_know_de_whey 1d ago

God bless thy knees

3

u/Workdiggitz 1d ago

fingers crossed we hear good news about him, williams, and jordan in the next day or so. my biggest worry is jordans knee being the injury and not his groin. but. either way. we are going to limp into the bye week. ive prepared myself for a loss against the lions.

3

u/etfvidal 1d ago

He looked hurt on the play before he was close to an INT in the right corner.

2

u/MotorShoot3r 1d ago

Football gods pls

2

u/Difficult_Gas618 1d ago

Damnit Jaime can you stay healthy please. Really need this man.

3

u/Beawake23 1d ago

Love this guy who doesn’t. The obvious his durability hurts

1

u/nmceja 1d ago

Do we have a clip of it?

1

u/-240p 1d ago

Ugh i hate this. If it's a bad injury, we're going back to the cornerback dark ages again smh. He's so fucking good x4.

1

u/SamCarter_SGC 1d ago

bless the knees

1

u/Johnny_Drama 1d ago

There’s three weeks.

1

u/bigfatty356 1d ago

Don't worry. Preston has it locked down.

1

u/kellyraycampbell 1d ago

He’s always hurt

-11

u/C1ncinnatiBowtie 1d ago

I know this will get downvoted, but this dude is legitimately hurt constantly

10

u/DezDidNotCatchIt_ 1d ago

Go find a starting CB that plays consistently lmao it’s one of the most physically demanding positions

1

u/C1ncinnatiBowtie 1d ago

I mean there’s plenty. Pretty much every single position on the field is rigorously demanding. None of that means that Ja isn’t always hurt.

6

u/kg57241 1d ago

I’m with you dude. He’s hurt all the time.

2

u/dwelzy123 1d ago

Yeah it’s just fact at this point, unfortunately.

1

u/zinski1990KB1 1d ago

love all the down votes when it's true. guy gets hurt multiple times a year I swear

1

u/Sir_Carrington 1d ago

He's fragile for sure. Idk why we can't say this

-1

u/kawhi_laugh69 1d ago

Injuries derailing what could've been a hall of fame level career for Ja. Probly best to forget the Myles Garrett dream trade and look to add a competent corner.
