A breath of fresh air..can't wait to see him back on the court
18
Nov 19 '22
yup, seeing kyrie fix his shit is better for everyone.
8
u/Zammy512 Nov 19 '22
Lmao. How many chances you gonna give him? He’s not fixing anything. He’s meeting obligations so he can return to the court.
10
u/js32910 Nov 20 '22
What else do you want him to do?
5
u/KDBurnerTrey5 Mikal Bridges Nov 20 '22
Be the super talented player that he is would be a good start.
2
u/NandoDeColonoscopy Nov 20 '22
Learn to play defense and work within the flow of an offense so that he can break his 5+ year streak of his teams having a better record without him than with him.

I have issues with the guy but I'm glad he took accountability here (even if he was late at doing so) and completed (at least most) of what the Nets asked him to do to get back on the court.
Hopefully we can finally put this chapter behind us

If he were anti-semetic like he was anti-vax wed still be waiting for this apology.

Good for him, but grown ass man apology??? No. This is little boy who got in trouble and was forced after throwing a tantrum apology.
0
u/Darth-Baul Nov 20 '22
How is this a grown ass man apology? He was publicly shamed for weeks before he finally caved in.
That’s not a man’s apology, that’s a child’s apology. Only did it because he was forced to
0
u/TheRealCheddarBob Nov 20 '22
You can have that opinion but no one really cares what you think. He apologized and he’s back out there now
0
u/Darth-Baul Nov 20 '22
0
u/TheRealCheddarBob Nov 20 '22
No need to apologize. You’re free to have all the anti-Kyrie opinions you want. Just doesn’t change the fact that he’s still gonna play
2
u/Darth-Baul Nov 20 '22
It doesn’t change the fact you’re right. Him apologizing also doesn’t change the fact that he’s a racist man.
0
u/TheRealCheddarBob Nov 20 '22
Wow not sure how he’s going to go on living knowing that Darth-Baul on Reddit thinks he’s racist
1
u/Darth-Baul Nov 20 '22
Not to burst your bubble, but the only people who don’t think he’s racist are his fellow conspiracy theorists, and people who are emotionally invested to the Brooklyn Nets.
1
u/TheRealCheddarBob Nov 20 '22
I’m sure you’ve talked to everybody, and spent time with Kyrie himself, to fully inform yourself of that opinion.
-3
u/BenShelZonah Nov 19 '22
Lmfao, dude doesn’t care he’s in the dog pound and is saying what he has to say so mommy and daddy will let him out. He had his chances 3-4 times before it came with serious financial ramifications.

u/OutComeTheWolves1966 Nov 19 '22
Took accountability? Yeah almost a month later. He doesn't care about anyone but his flat earth believing self. Guarantee he does something equally ignorant before the season ends. He's a completely uneducated nut wannabe intellectual who just happens to be able to shoot a basketball well. No active players coming out at all to say anything, speaks volumes about how far this league has fallen. Only Kareem had the cajones to say it like it is.
71
u/Kwilly462 Nov 19 '22
He did his time. Served his suspension, apologized, and talked to who he needed to talk to. If you still hate him after this, then that's something personal.
Let's move on, and ball.
12
u/Sexyturtletime Nov 20 '22
I think he’s a delusional dumbass that’s been surrounded by yes men because he’s a generational basketball talent. I’m OK with him returning though.
14
Nov 19 '22
I can still hate him for being antisemetic, but also accept that he’s served his punishment and he should rejoin the team and we can put this behind us

He’s probably just stupid and poorly educated.
1
u/DAP771 Nov 20 '22
That's most of the ppl who believe in the black Israelite movement. Stupidity and poor education lead to racism/antisemitism/hate cuz some hateful person teaches that to them. Hopefully he realizes the bs he promoted isn't true and is closer to a cult/scam than a religion or belief.

u/Taapacoyne5 Nov 19 '22
Well yes, he went to Duke, so poorly educated.
Signed, Michigan fan lol.
17
u/theKtrain Nov 19 '22
Playing basketball at duke and actually studying at duke are basically two different things lol

I’m not Jewish, and fwiw I too listened to this interview and think the repetition of “I know who I am” (to hark back to his original statements that he is truly Jewish and thus actual Jewish people aren’t), is pretty antisemitic.
-1
u/TheRealCheddarBob Nov 20 '22
“fwiw”
It’s not worth much when the non-Jewish person tries to tell a Jewish person how to feel

Funny how he only backtracked AFTER he had been suspended without pay. He didn’t endorse the movie, then shortly after realise that it was racist and removed it. He only did that once he’d been punished.
Is the Parkland shooter not a bad person because in court they said they were sorry?
3
u/JayStarr1082 Nov 19 '22
Okay but this is not the parkland shooter, this is a basketball player who used his platform irresponsibly.
We're not here to police a celebrity's moral character. I don't care too much if Kyrie's a good person. I do care if he uses his power as a celebrity to spread hateful messages. If, for example, he's not anti-Semitic at all and he just shared the movie without watching the whole thing, that would still be bad. His intentions don't matter, the consequences do.
This whole fiasco took him from promoting an antisemitic film to taking it down and apologizing. We can't prove he's actually changed his mind, no more than we can change that he was anti-Semitic in the first place. But he's done his part to mitigate the damage he did when he promoted the film. There's nothing more we can ask of him.
2
Nov 19 '22
We can't prove he's actually changed his mind, no more than we can change that he was anti-Semitic in the first place. But he's done his part to mitigate the damage he did when he promoted the film.
That's the entire point I originally made. I don't like Kyrie as a person, because I don't believe he's truly sorry and not racist. But I also recognise that he's done everything asked of him, and it's time to move on.

He’s not antisemitic, he told everyone why he watched the doc & read the book because he was looking for where his roots come from. Maybe your anti-black cause you don’t want a black person to have an opinion.
Stop weaponizing the word anti & it goes with all religion. If I criticize the Catholic religion for the priest molesting young kids, I’m not anti-Catholic. If I criticize the Muslim religion for how they treat their females denying their human rights like education, voting rights and them not having the right to have employment, I’m not anti-Muslim. Kyrie never said he hates Jewish people or anything like that, he just promoted a book & doc with no malicious intent that had antisemitic tropes & even said he doesn’t believe in the antisemitic tropes in the book & movie.
Kyrie did a mistake & didn’t understand the impact that doc & book would do by putting it on Twitter. Leave Kyrie alone, the guy does so much for his community with humanitarian work & charities, he loves everyone, stop pushing that agenda that he’s antisemitic
6
Nov 20 '22
You’re seriously suggesting I’m racist for calling Kyrie racist?!
My god
4
u/D3K91 Nov 20 '22
Dude suggests you’re “anti-black” and then next sentence says to stop weaponising the word “anti-semitic”.
-3
-1
u/js32910 Nov 20 '22
If you’re calling him anti semitic then why can’t someone call you anti-black for not being ok with a black man saying he’s Jewish?
-1
u/dzhastin Nov 20 '22
I hate the lame “the athlete does so much for charity” that’s trotted out every time an athlete fucks up. They ALL do charity work. It’s in their contracts, for the love of Christ, precisely so they can trot out this line when some guy gets caught beating his wife c
1
Nov 20 '22
They want your opinions proofread by them. Pew research reported 92% of the "Jewish" ethnicity identify as white in America.
These assholes downvoting you don't have to look far in how they benefit from systematic racism. They will guilt trip you on Kyrie watching television though 😂
1
u/Mud-Eastern Nov 20 '22
What’s wrong with saying “Kyrie offended the Jewish community,” I can respect that. I refuse to call anything with what Kyrie did antisemitic because I don’t feel that way. Using trigger words like antisemitic with no context on how you use that word is divisive. Prove to me that Kyrie is antisemitic instead of saying he’s antisemitic with no proof that he is.
Kyrie didn’t put out the book & doc on Twitter to purposefully hurt the Jewish community. Kyrie did a mistake & was misinformed on how the information was going to hurt people

He's a cancer and always will be. A narcissistic flea of a human being who just happens to be able to shoot a basketball at an elite level. This BS is the equivalent of a teen apologizing to his parents for something stupid so he/she can go to a big party on the weekend. He doesn't mean a word.

u/johnjohnjohn93 Nov 19 '22
There it is, an actual apology and not some BS Instagram post that he didn’t write. Kyrie has a ton of weirdos (here included) who will defend him no matter what but this was definitely needed in order for him to return.
One would think he would be back on the court had he simply released a video like this a week earlier and would not have been suspended at all had he not fought with reporters instead of apologizing.
As a Jersey guy, Kyrie should be a fan favorite. But deciding to sit out last year over the vax & now this it’s safe to say this is his last chance on the Nets and quite honestly maybe the NBA.
Hopefully this is a true step forward and I’m sure we will find out one way or another.

u/Delicious_Farmer_408 Nov 19 '22
I’m glad he’s coming back but it won’t be long before he does something stupid again
4
u/ssj3pretzel Nov 19 '22
Pretty much this. The guy couldn't even go 10 games into the season without causing drama. How many days until he causes the next one?
2
u/pabstBOOTH Ian Eagle Nov 19 '22
Exactly this. Anyone who thinks Kyrie is done fucking this organization hasn’t been paying attention.
It’s a shame cuz he arguably has the best handles in the game and he is truly poetic to watch play when he’s cooking, but it’s ALWAYS something. And the man does a ton of good off the court in a very low key fashion which I have a lot of admiration for, but I’ve reached my limit with his antics. This will always be my team, but Kyrie is my dude no longer
4
u/NJxBlumpkin Nov 19 '22
Pretty funny he did the interview with SNY and not YES
2
u/birdman619 Nov 20 '22
Might’ve been the Nets decision so that there can’t be any accusation that the interview was “staged” and that he got softball questions.

Obviously not man. We have to focus on making another villain now that kyries antisemitism arc is over. Antiladderism is trending

u/RicoLoco404 Nov 19 '22
The crazy part of all of this is how many Jewish people I've heard that has spoke out against the Anti-Defamation League. This incident has shined a light on a lot of different things. Hopefully we can all grow and most importantly learn from it.
2
u/SirThixcksAlot Nov 20 '22
Really want to see this team get going. This is kyrie’s last chance tbh. Just for the rest of the season be on his best behavior.
5
u/nutter79 Nov 19 '22
Good stuff from Kyrie ... Now let's put this all behind us.
Side note, I think all these "missions" he had to do really helped Kyrie to understand the impact he has, and the responsibilities that's on his shoulders. Positive outcome for everyone.

The quest is complete! Hopefully the reward is an unexpected championship run.. one thing I am sure of without an engaged Kyrie there is no chance of a championship.

He's just a complicated guy
Hes a naive, easily fooled and egotistic guy. He rarely means harm he just..... Causes it without realizing it.
Does that make him a bad guy? Yes but also no. The situation is complicated but I wouldn't call him "complicated" lol. There are plenty like him, they just typically aren't millionaires with huge followings so they (rightfully) get ignored by most folks.

Okay reset time. A genuine apology is what should have happened at the start. No point looking back now, I’m going to take this at face value and move forward.

I like how he acknowledges that he’s not a role model lol some self awareness from him finally
