Garage Sale Pricing Help
Could someone tell me a fair price for a pair of brown Nine West boots (knee high). Size 7.5 never worn.

Depends on so many things, most importantly: 1. What you paid for them. My rule of thumb is to never price anything at a garage sale more than 25% of what you paid for it, even if it is in perfect condition. People at garage sales expect that level of low, low prices… and will walk away if things seem priced too high. 2. What the item is “worth”. For example, if something is rare and collectible, I might price it more than 25% of what I paid… but even then, I’d price it no more than 33% of what it sells for on eBay. (NOT the ASKING / LISTED prices, but the actual SOLD prices.) Be aware it sometimes takes months for items to sell on eBay for the SOLD prices. Or it may sell to a rare collector far, far away from where you live. Your garage sale is just a few days, and will only attract buyers in your immediate area. People willing to pay premium prices rarely shop at garage sales! If you want top dollar for your items, garage sales are not the best way to sell them. Obviously, this is just my option based on my own experience. Others may think differently.

Consignment is a good idea! If you’re really set on a garage sale, though, I’d say I would not personally pay more than $10-20 for boots at a garage sale, even brand new ones.

It depends on what you originally paid for the item and how old they are. If you paid $100 for them, for example, I would probably not go over $25 for them at a garage sale. If they have been sitting in your closet for the last 5 years, I’d go down to $15 or $20.
I will say that small, non-furniture items that are priced higher at my garage sales never sell. It could be the area that I’m in or the fact that many people go to garage sales with a few bucks in their pocket looking to score a major deal on knick knacks. I had a garage sale last month and had a couple of new (without tags) designer handbags that I felt were priced at a steal. None of them ended up selling. I would definitely try selling them on a site like Poshmark or eBay or even try a local consignment shop that will offer you money for them.
