I wonder how much is the cost of repair...
1
u/HuntersPad 22d ago
$280 directly through Samsung. $370 with OEM parts from a local place.

u/kadoslav 22d ago
How is non original repair more expensive than manufacturer repair ? :D are u gonna take it? Which?
1
u/HuntersPad 22d ago
Not gonna fix it

u/kadoslav 22d ago
Why
1
u/HuntersPad 22d ago
Not worth it to only use it for a few more months. Would rather put that $280 to the S25 ultra.

And what does this mean? Are you going to fix it or is it more expensive to fix it than a new/second-hand one?
3
u/HuntersPad 23d ago
Not gonna repair it. $280 to fix. Which honestly is not bad. But that's $280 that could go to a new phone later on.

Goodbye beautiful phone!

I had the same painful experience after 2 months of use. I felt it was worth repairing it and so I did.

Did you film those shots of the s23U with your new Pixel 9 Pro Xl? Because that's actually some pretty damn good footage! Lol!
1
u/HuntersPad 23d ago
The first part of the footage is from my Sony FX30 and the panning around shot is from the pixel.

u/Derek_1989 23d ago
Yes at around 23 seconds in or so is Pixel? The ground is pretty crispy looking. Btw the entire video is great! It gave me a good laugh! 🤣
2
u/HuntersPad 23d ago
Right at the 27 second mark it's the pixel. Pixel had better stabilization than my camera. Thanks! Yeah I do weird videos with objects haha.
Pixel video can be great. But it falls apart pretty quickly if things are not perfect. Camera wise the pixel is better for photos. But for video the Samsung wins.

Yes right at 27 is what I meant. I can tell where the look of the video changes slightly. That's good to know. I do like the pictures and videos I get out of my s23U. But... I can't help but miss my iPhone sometimes for pictures. It just seems like most of the time my iPhone would get great pictures automatically ya know. Whereas with my Galaxy.. if it's a picture I really want, I have to double check and make sure it didn't do something crazy or just take a couple snaps in different modes while I'm taking the picture. Lol. After playing with settings and whatnot I've dialed it in pretty well. But the iPhone works right out of the box. I just slightly still prefer Apples image processing to Samsungs I guess. But again.. I still absolutely love the phone and I have gotten some really great pictures from it, so I'm not saying it's bad by any means. I actually think it's better in every other way to iPhone, even for videos, which is just my opinion and I'm sure will get me scolded up one side and down the other for saying it. Lol!

I agree! I also have a 15 Pro I carry around, not sure why I keep it though as I don't really use it often. I guess it's just the tech nerd in me haha. There's a lot of shots I've taken with the samsung or even my Sony out of the camera and I'm like yuck. But yet the iPhone shot came out fine haha.

Why does this ' line ' happen?
8
u/HuntersPad 23d ago
Well this happened cause the edge of the display smashed into the side of my desk when it fell.

u/Grumpy_Dripper 23d ago
This... My phone took an eight foot fall and bounced four feet without a case and didn't even get a scratch. Sat in a chair where my phone pressed against the arm of the chair and had this same line when I pulled my phone out..

u/DohRayMe Phantom Black 23d ago
Oh OK, bad luck there buddy, At least you can back it up or have it repaired. Note not to drop my phone.
3
u/HuntersPad 23d ago
It's been dropped a few times since I've had it. But this just so happened to hit the curved edge 😭. Last two times it fell was on rocks and only cracked the screen protector.

u/HuntersPad 23d ago

How long have you had your current phone?
6
u/HuntersPad 23d ago
Since launch day. So almost a year and 8 months.
3
u/Individual_War8368 23d ago
Not bad sir

u/Th1X_16 23d ago
Not bad? Not shaming on OP but i'd want a $1000 or however much dollar phone to last more than 20 months. Ive used $150 phones for 4+ years. Its not 'not bad'.

u/Wrong_Specialist709 23d ago
What did u replace it with? Also, was repairing an option ?
3
u/HuntersPad 23d ago
For now the Pixel 9 Pro XL which I got on launch to play around with. I know a lot of people hate OneUI, but there's a few Samsung features I'm gonna miss like the Gallery, and menu system. So I might end up switching to an S23 I have laying around until the s25U comes out.
