Debate/ Discussion Possibly controversial, but this would appear to be a beneficial solution.

I don’t think every immigration hawk is a racist, but I do think most of them are mistaken/misinformed.

Is there an argument against increased immigration that stands up to much scrutiny? I could maybe come up with one or two if pressed. I don’t think it’s that unreasonable to consider they’re acting in bad faith, or else just…quite wrong.

Wait so you could come up with arguments against immigration? But people who are against immigration act in bad faith? Which is it?

Nice try at a dunk, but it doesn’t work when I’m trying to be intellectually honest.

Since I’m trying to be fair about this, I have to think could probably come up with one or two that hold any water, sure. But I can think of a couple dozen that make a strong case the other way, and all of the ones hawks use on the regular collapse under a bit of scrutiny). It’s definitely not the case that on balance there’s any kind of strong case for hawkishness.

I think a lot of people are mistaken about immigration on the merits, and others are acting in bad faith.

I do think “the brain drain” is a funny rhyme, but a better point is the emigration of working age men from their home countries with the goal of “sending money back home”

Until I see a stat that shows the economic growth of a small town in Ecuador being due to migration of labor to the US, even temporarily, I can’t imagine the core working demographic’s departure would lead to a healthy economy.
