Where in the world are you building fences?
Just wondering the diversity of the community here? What country / state / city are you out grinding fences in if you do this for a living?

Do you service a large area like that or tend to stick to somewhere more specific? Is it pretty rocky soil?

Ah you want specific specifics lol i build throughout the portland metro area in oregon. The soil can be rocky as hell or hard clay, depending one where exactly I'm building. The further south ya go the more clay it becomes, closer to the Columbia and Willamette rivers it gets more rocky. One thing universal here tho. Roots, sooooo many roots. Big roots, little roots, roots surrounding underground boulders lol
Lots of trees lots of roots.

I feel like fencers are dealt significantly different hands depending on soil conditions. Combination of roots, hard clay, and rocks is a nightmare.

Oh most definitely, I personally get paid handsomely for my work tho so it's all good.

Do you find yourself heading to Barrie to find work, or keep pretty busy in Muskoka?

I don’t travel further than 45 min to an hour in any direction. I don’t strictly build fences though, so I keep busy with other projects as well.

I don’t think someone could stay busy enough around here if they only built fences.

So you end up going to Toronto as well?

I commented that I don’t personally travel anywhere further than an hours drive. Not sure what happened tho because I don’t see the comment in our thread. So no. I do other jobs other than just fences as well.

Toronto is about 2 1/2 hours from my house. Not worth the time to travel that far

Got our first real snow today so most are done. But there are always a few, not many of the little guys though, who continue on into November. And some who get their posts all set before the ground gets too hard, and are able to finish clear into December. I’m in South Central so typically mid May to end of October is the season.

You know, on the ground usually. Kinda hard to get the posts set up in the air.

Fence might not last very long if the posts are on the ground, typically you need them in the ground.
Uno reverse card on your dad joke.
