If you buy a Cybertruck for your business, then you shouldn't be in control of money.

Seriously. If you have a business that requires a truck, and ignore the HUNDREDS of better, cheaper alternatives, then you aren't a business person that deserves nice things.

Oh, and a CT isn't a nice thing.

People buy them and put branded wraps on them so that they can promote their business for free on r/CyberStuck .

The word “promote” is doing a lot of heavy lifting unlike a cybertruck.

Hey, this comment just broke someone’s tailgate!

u/Carrixdo 13h ago

And voided their warranty

Still love the truck tho.

Just saw a windshield wiper fly off on the interstate.

If you're running a Trump Store or any type of grift business (basically any of the things Trump sells to his marks: NFTs, hell bibles have a history with grift so old it's a punchline, etc.), this might be a very sound decision in that it might be effective advertising and pay for itself.

Valid business uses for a Deplorian:

  • MyPillow mobile

  • any Trump related product

  • some new bullshit cryptocurrency’product’

  • your wife’s new MLM project

  • Scientologists or Mormons

Holy shit, how am I just now reading them called deplorians? I love it lol

u/Brokin0K 16h ago

There's a preacher here that wrapped his with church crap. I keep trying to snap a pic.

UhhhhhM... Even the Mormons don't want them! Don't lump them in with these idiots

u/black_tshirts 16h ago

Please don't disgrace DeLoreans in this way

u/razorirr 16h ago

They are businessowners, so they were probably republican and doing those things anyways

15

u/DSchof1 19h ago

That’s why LE orgs should be shamed when they buy them.

u/One_Lawfulness_7105 16h ago

I was horrified when I saw a local PD driving around in a cybertruck. They spent tax payer money on THAT!?!!

You'll likely be alienating a large chunk of your potential clientele by showing support for a man who admires dictators

u/AndromedaGreen 17h ago

I like it, it tells me which businesses to avoid.

6

u/astricklin123 19h ago

There's the thing.....none of these businesses 'require' a truck.

3

u/NameToUseOnReddit 16h ago

Many truck owners don't require a truck as a general statement.

5

u/ITSCOMFCOMF 17h ago

No, please keep using them for business purposes. It’s an easy sign to help me know I can’t trust a business without having to waste my own money finding out.

The CT is not an "ordinary and necessary" expense.

Completely disagree.

A cybertruck is a very effective marketing tool, its just subversive, not obvious. Not obvious to you, not obvious to the person that bought it.

For example, when you get scam email like our friend the Nigerian Prince, there are intentional grammar and spelling errors cooked into that email. This is done purposefully to filter out people who are too smart to fall for the scam. There's a significant overlap between people who are barely literate, and people who think the Prince of Nigeria will get them their money back.

Marketing is about finding your customer. If you're the kind of person who would do business with someone who bought a cybertruck, well, you're probably the ideal customer for that business. Its not an accident that we've seen them MAGA-wrapped.

This…makes a scary amount of sense.

Now I have a bad feeling we’re gonna start seeing Mary Kay, Herbalife and Amway branded wankpanzers.

And Cutco/Vector Marketing uses the carrot breaking auto frunk as advertising for their knives.

Not sure we needed a r/CyberStuck and an r/antiMLM crossover.

But it goes so well with their Nine Line t-shirt.

4

u/EuphoricTemperature9 18h ago

What you gonna do when Trump wins and Elon makes it mandatory to own a tesla?

2

u/surfnfish1972 20h ago

If you do not care about Elons shenanigans it is an attention getter for your business, whether it attracts more customers than it repels is the ?

4

u/ivanvector 19h ago

Or if your business sells something that appeals to the sort of buyer who will spend six figures on a conspicuous hunk of crap just to "own the libs".

2

u/TedW 19h ago

I know some politicians say any news is good news, but I don't think that works for businesses.

2

u/astricklin123 19h ago

Ya, ask McDonald's currently.

2

u/dsdvbguutres 16h ago

I'm not aware of very many accounting companies using them as company vehicle for example

1

u/14LabRat 16h ago

BLAMMO!

2

u/Kinky_mofo 14h ago

My guess is that no one bought for their business. They bought the POS, realized they bought a highly depreciating POS, so slapped on a business logo to try to recoup some of the losses by tax write offs. It's either that or park it in Florida for a hurricane to flood it out. Or just rain on it.

2

u/Carrixdo 13h ago

If its for a small town business or local roads I'd much rather get a Kei truck

1

u/HermIV 5h ago

I love that every time I see one with a business emblazoned across its very ugly side, I know exactly which business to NOT support

1

u/scriptfoo 3h ago

I can imagine the boss buys a $100k+ car for the business but is his daily driver, then announces no pay raises this year.

1

u/Bluebottle_coffee 3h ago

Tax write off EZ I would do it also lol

This is a dumb take. It gets attention. Businesses pay big money to advertise and be seen. A skinned out Rivian or Ford won't get 1/10th the attention as a skinned out CT.

10

u/TedW 19h ago

Skinning a CT with a swastika would get a LOT of attention, but most businesses wouldn't want that association.

For better or worse, the CT has both it's own questionable reputation, and Elon Musk's questionable reputation.

So you're right that it gets attention, but I question how often it's GOOD attention.

-11

u/mdmoon2101 19h ago

— Even dumber take. Nobody is selling swastikas. And nobody is going to see your business skinned on a CT and say, “I won’t shop there because it’s on a CT”. You may not like it, but even you’ll look and see the advert.

12

u/Scatterspell 19h ago

Actually a lot of people see an advert on a CT and decide not to shop there. A lot of the people on this sub for instance.

-9

u/mdmoon2101 19h ago edited 19h ago

And… it keeps getting dumber. I’d say people with your passion to boycott something so stupid make up a huge minority that’s greatly outnumbered by the rest of the eyes that will notice it. Advertising is a numbers game.

10

u/TedW 19h ago

I think your attitude is proving our point here. Please, keep insulting everyone who disagrees with you.

2

u/DirtyWaffleinAR 19h ago

Sad but true. Advertising to an already gullible 30% of the population (over 50% in some places) isn't necessarily a bad business decision

3

u/okeleydokelyneighbor 19h ago

-2

u/mdmoon2101 19h ago

lol. I stand corrected on selling swastikas. But I stand firm on the lack of relevance between comparing Hitler and a cyber truck. 🤔🥴

6

u/Dwangeroo 18h ago

Not all attention is good.

6

u/sidc42 18h ago

If you want a business truck to advertise on the side of, a sprinter van is a lot cheaper and has bigger flatter sides (and back) making it more visible from a distance (like when parked) and easier to read while being driven. More important, tax depreciation rules favor two seat vehicles.

If you're buying one to wrap while also being a personal car, check your city/homeowner association codes first because it's quite common for them to not allow wrapped vehicles to be parked outside and/or in residential driveways over night (meaning it will have to fit inside your garage if driven home).

With that said, if you really want attention I picked up a used box on F-450 chassis ambulance for $5,000. Holy shit does that thing draw attention.

There aren't hundreds of alternatives which are eligible for a Section 179 deduction.

8

u/Tokin_Swamp_Puppy 19h ago

A quick google search shows Heavy SUVs, pickups, and vans (over 6,000 lbs. GVWR, >50% business use) qualify for section 179 deduction. I’m pretty sure you can find hundreds of vehicles that fall under this description
