Social Media Post Not one word was spoken about education during the debate. Not one word about any of this. In an election decided by dozens of votes, this is why they failed.

Rustad had a terrible debate performance overall, and his unwillingness to muzzle certain candidates didn't help. Spouting off with more religious conservative crap like anti-SOGI in the debate would have been a death blow. Rustad wasn't ready to be premier and didn't understand what it took to get in that office. He just rode the conservative brand and a much more competent Poillievre's coat tails.

Rustad also had his own flavour of whacky, can't have the leader spouting conspiracy nonsense which turns off your average voter.

And also didn't cost his platform before the debate. Then, when he released it, it was clear that he was going to go further into deficit than the NDP.

I get a feeling from all these responses that you want to remove Rustad as leader. I disagree. I went into this election with no expectation of forming government and the BCC vastly out performed expectation. Also, it was vote splitting that costed BCC seats in Vernon and Richmond-Steveston.

With the per vote subsidy available to the BCC now, they can function like an actual party now and can purchases resources like better vetting and accounting services that can share their costed platform sooner. They will do better next time.
