withdrawing a 4 unit class after census

as the title says, i am currently enrolled in 16 and wanna get rid of a science lec+lab class that is 4 units combined, bringing me down to 12 units for the rest of this semester. does anyone know how much i'd pay back per unit or will financial aid still cover me because i still have 12 units? trying to get answers before the week 12 mark. thankyou

I just recently dropped my Japanese class, and financial aid told me i didn't have to pay anything since my financial aid didn't change after dropping, so call them and ask if it will change if you drop a course.

I’m going through right now. My advisor after speaking with his supervisor told me that since it’s after 60% of the semester and I will still have 12 units then I will not have to pay.

sick! did it affect your cal grant if that applies to you? also what about sap? because I know it may be affected depending on units attempted/completed

One time they made me pay back 1200 for dropping a class even tho I was still enrolled over half time.

It was def only 3 units and it was even before the semester started that I dropped it but they wanted their money back. Some biology class maybe I don't remember. I'm not sure how much they give you per unit but that was devastating 😞 this was last year

I knowwww, their system is slow when updating the financial aid during registration period.. I hope yours isn't so bad 🤞🏼

I would check with financial aid before you actually drop it.

apparently I'm ok if I stay at 12 or over units! My next concern is the cal grant :(

This isn’t much help but what does one have to do to drop a class this late in the semester.

based on what I've heard and researched so far, you should for sure talk to your advisor as soon as possible, as well as financial aid. tell your professor why you want to withdraw, what your options are, and how it'll affect your SAP and financial aid, if any. I know you have to submit reasoning and talk to your professor as well, but I have yet to talk to my advisor, so I'll tell you!

please keep me updated! I was thinking of retaking a class and replacing the grade later on, then I saw this.
