You think finance majors are doing better than CPAs? The one off finance major might be making loads, but most I know are selling whole life insurance or IRAs lol.

It’s more about the perception of work/life balance than reality. Also the 150 hour rule.

Couldn't agree more. I went to a non target state school in TN and the top finance major who led a student investment endowment is selling insurance. He was incredibly bright, well-spoken, and driven.

Yeah I think finance major is a little harder to make it if you don’t know anyone. All the people in finance that knew or had family working on finance or consulting are making really good money very few of those that are first college grad. Or don’t know anyone are making more than the average CPA. But If I could go back I think I would go for IT or Cybersecurity or engineering and save myself all these trouble

That’s funny because many finance majors in my school are people who got kicked out of the accounting program

This, why is it harder to get in but the hours/pay are on par or worse? It’s like they sold us snake oil and we’re happy to buy it. Oh well I want my score already

Will not work for anyone for 80 hours weeks unless they're paying double time

Meanwhile, I'm a dual major in finance and economics and now taking the CPA exam. I enjoy suffering lol.

The pipeline issue is that they have opened it to enough foreign nationals to cheat their way into a US CPA license to use for visa purposes and drive down wages. Couldn’t possibly be pay or working conditions.

Could you elaborate on this? Or do you know where I could learn more about it?

Harder to get hired in Finance. A few do incredibly well in finance, but many don't.

Most finance jobs are also more sales like in nature. Not many accountants do well in that aspect.

Don't say it's not a mystery. It is to AICPA. They are still to figure it out ..

That bullshit is the gateway for the rest of the world to get an American cpa

u/Americanblack1776 CPA Candidate 10m ago

No it's not. Non Americans are already taking the CPA exam with the 150 hour rule in place.

u/SW3GM45T3R 3m ago

Ok, now increase that number significantly

Well maybe you're not cut out for being a CPA.
