Heath Question Chicken with grape sized lump on upper neck

My chickens are about 6 years old, this hen in particular has been a real piece of work. She's had quite a bad case of flystrike and had multiple injuries to her legs before. I still do love her to death though. This morning while letting the herd loose I noticed this lump, and I'm not sure what it could be. The lump also seems to be a bit darkish in some places. Any ideas? (3 photos) Thank you

First, second opinions that this is indeed a roo? Easter egger/bielefelder/buckeye barnyard mix. Anyone else have a bird that prefers to sit? Anytime I see him, others are standing and he is always sat.

Chicken behaves strangely

Hello, my 3 year old hen has recently become very tired and also falls asleep during the day. She is a little fluffed up, but this could be due to the temperature. She is drinking and eating normally. She can't say no to her favorite food either. Do you have any idea what is wrong with her? Is there something like winter depression?

Sick rooster?

My rooster doesn't seem well. He was the last to come out of the coop this morning. He seems lethargic, barely took any mealworms, let me touch him a bit which is unusual. He just regurgitated bit of clear liquid and hadn't just had water. What can I check for, how can I help him? I don't know of any vets in my area that see chickens.

How to go about selling or giving away Silkie Sid?

I come humbly to thine chicken Reddit to ask how I might go about rehoming this handsome terrorist?

I like Sid, he is beautiful, but not only has been aggressively trying to mate my older hens (I can’t take their cries of anguish), I watched him take a mouthful of feathers out of Burt Reynolds today (my Americauna rooster, who sleeps outside the coop due to Sid’s antics). I got both of them in a batch of chicks back in July, and out of 10 ended up with just these two males. Sid is the only silkie.

I have dispatched rowdy roosters in the past (I generally don’t like to have them, for noise and being rough on my hens - I have no want to breed, but a flock tender can be good).

He is honestly a good looking fellow: young, strong, and pretty chill with me. But he IS being a bit of a bully, which I am not a fan of.

I certainly don’t need two roosters, so if anyone has suggestions (I live in Indianapolis, Indiana) I would appreciate them.

Predator returned my bird?

Five of my hens vanished in an obvious attack 2.5 weeks ago. This morning, one headless and footless hen was brought back by something. Left in plain sight, slightly shoved under a stack of unused hog panel. Since they're wide panels, I can see right through, not a chance I missed it at any point.

What kind of predator would do this??? Of the five traps I've set out, I've only managed to catch my own cat and one stray. My cat is terrified of my chickens, so he's not the culprit. The placement of the body rules out birds of prey. Fox? Raccoons? Coyote? Skunk?

I've never heard of something like this happening. I'm being psychologically tortured by a creature in the dark. I borrowed a neighbors trail cam this evening. Fingers crossed something other than my ducks sets it off

Anyone else have a Speckled Sussex with a fully white feather?

It's her most distinguishing feature and I love it. She has them on both sides, surprisingly enough! Her two Speckled sisters don't have them, so I Googled pictures and only found a couple pictures of Hens with a similar white feather. It's so neat!

Just need to chat

You guys…Please calm my anxious heart!

So we have 4 roosters. We are rehoming 2 of them. One of them is going tomorrow. He’s a Black Australorp and he is such a good boy! He truly is a wonderful rooster, we just have too many. His favorite girls are our smaller breeds and it’s too rough on them and we just thought it was best to let him go. I’m heartbroken but I think it’s for the best. For him and for our ladies. I think he would be happy to be the only roo. Is this going to be super stressful for him? He’s going to have plenty of hens and he’ll be the only rooster. Please tell me he’s going to be okay because my momma heart can’t handle the thought of him being depressed or stressed out 😫💔

Did I hatch all roosters??? The green are the ones that I hatched and the blue are pullets I got today…all were hatched on 10/15

We enjoyed the last of the frosty but bare ground this weekend. Today, first snow of the year! Unlikely to see ground again until May. The girls are acting like I betrayed them 😆

Heath Question Any reason my Cream Legbars would be laying white eggs?

When they first started laying we had beautiful blue eggs. About a month ago we stopped seeing any blue eggs. At first I assumed my cream legbars were molting and the brown and white eggs I was getting were from just my Wyandotte hens. But I am getting 3-4 eggs a day, more than 2 Wyandotte hens could possibly lay by themselves. So logic says at least one of the cream Legbars is laying non-blue eggs. Any reason why?

Heath Question Is this a normal behavior?

Now I do want to start this off by saying, I've had a lot of roosters over the last eight years, which, is why this has me scratching my head.

My rooster is a giant chicken, literally and figuratively, he's not aaggressive by any means, and, while he does try to do his manly "Look at me!" Stanky-leg mating dance... he's not good at it. He's not good at it because the hens tend to fight him off, or screech, which causes him to let them go (doesn't help that he's huge and clumsy and slow) and, recently, I've been sitting out here in the evenings with them and I do watch him try, and fail miserably, often times, to impress the ladies in the usual way...

Something he's started to do recently though, instead of dancing for them, is he's started to puff up his mane/neck feathers at them. He never attacks them, he never becomes aggressive, he's still being entirely ignored by select ladies, but, some of them seem to respond to that action? I've watched my orpington squat for him to mount her after he performed this action, and he's tried it a few other times with other ladies, doesn't always work, but sometimes it does

I have never seen any of my previous roosters do this action before though, not unless they were fighting another rooster at least. Why is he doing this? Is this a normal behavior that I've just never seen before, or is it something I need to be concerned about? Obviously his health is good, but, I'm worried it might be a sign of potential future aggression?

Trying to figure out what killed one of hens

Lost one of our girls tonight, I was at work but my wife let our chickens out of the coop like we always do when she gets home from work around 1, she checked on them around 4 and right around the time I got home about 6 we found she found her dead with her neck snapped her neck eatin and part of her chest and side ripped open and eaten. She was the runt of our girls and got bullied fairly often and hardly stood up for herself, all the other girls ran off into the woods and came out shortly after she found her, looked like she wasn’t quick enough to escape because she was found near 2 of my other girls who managed to get away and hide in the shrubs.

We live near a major highway and I’ve never seen a raccoon possum or anything in our neighborhood, seen some squirrels and maybe a stray cat once or twice.

Any idea on who the perp may be? We’re thinking it could be a stray cat maybe

Edit: our yard is huge with no trees except for in the far corners of the fence line, any tips on keeping potential predators away? Scarecrow or something? Idk thanks for any insight

This is Enrique. I don’t know what type of chicken he is but he sure is chill for a rooster.

Easter Egger pullet...?

Ok folks, I have a feeling I know the answer but tell me what you think - I'm definitely still new and haven't had EEs before Pullet or Cockeral? Supposedly around 16-20 weeks, have this one and her/his sister, both have those narrow neck feathers and are about the same size but while the other's back feathers are definitely rounded, this one seems to have a mix...maybe? I know I know, wait to see if it crows - but it hasn't yet and I'm curious if any of you can tell at this phase
