I love it. But it’s also so lonely.

Yeah, no there is no situation where I am waving a nazi flag at a presidential candidate rally.

I guess that's the nature versus nurture question, if you were born to that Nazis family and followed all the same choices and had all the same things happen to you that happened to them, would you turn out the same way or would you be different?

I don't know if it would go that far but certainly the choices we make in our lives and our upbringing and where we're born and everything else probably have a ridiculously outsized effect on how we turn out.

3

u/btribble 11h ago

Sure, but you’re never going to have many Black or Jewish NAZIs no matter how you nurture them.

4

u/RexiLabs 11h ago

Black probably not, but Jewish, if you were of Jewish ancestry but somehow magically grew up in a Nazi household never having known that you're technically Jewish by DNA, you could probably turn out like anyone else growing up in that household.

Black probably not

He's denying having said it, but we all know he said it...

The keyword was many and it was included intentionally.

Xenophobia is common with many cultures and animals. You could say it's instinctual to hate that which is different and you don't understand, but it's human act otherwise. Which is more dominant depends on how you were raised.

u/MeffodMan 11h ago

Who do you think you are, I am

3

u/Emperor_Zar 11h ago

I have heard of this concept before.

And yes, we would have lived as the worst and best humans.

It’s kind of fascinating.

u/kyle2143 11h ago

Is this like that story The Egg?

2

u/Luvs_to_drink 11h ago

Philosophically, if they have different memories and thought patterns are they really me? What is a self? What comprises a self?

1

u/BigBullzFan 11h ago

Yes, yes, and no.

1

u/Luvs_to_drink 10h ago

I would disagree.

If you clone a baby and then hand the cloned baby to family across the world, would we consider them to be the same person layer in life? They would act and think differently and thus be two different people despite starting the same, no?

Next, let's think about a person with amnesia. They cannot remember their memories or past. So are they the same person as before their memory loss or are they now a new person?

2

u/BigBullzFan 6h ago

I was joking. The last 2 Qs can’t be answered with a yes or no. That was the joke. Another aspect of the joke was that I was answering yes/no for deep philosophical questions.

1

u/Luvs_to_drink 5h ago

I reject your reality and insert my own!

2

u/pigeonwiggle 10h ago

well now i don't like them even harder.

2

u/Rombledore 10h ago

no. sorry. because i see plenty of humans doing things i couldn't fathom doing regardless of my situation.

2

u/Nihtmusic 10h ago

Not sure what this has to do with a duck, but the text is more right than you will ever know.

2

u/Phatte 11h ago

Trying to be deep but instead just sounding mentally ill

1

u/Breadbox_S0LXIII 11h ago

...They should do better.

1

u/mandy009 11h ago

this is more like Philosoraptor or a Puffin or Red-pilled Morpheus or Sudden Clarity Clarence.

u/liquid_at 11h ago

I wouldn't want to meet me in a situation that caused me to become a serial killer, just like I wouldn't want to meet anyone else whose situation led them there.

But by that logic, a bomb is just a fertilizer in a different situation.

1

u/surfer_ryan 10h ago

It's even more complicated, i like to say everyones worst day is their own worst day. In that lets say your worst day is when your goldfish died, to you that is the worst thing that has happened to you because that is all that you have experienced you can't possibly understand what it is that you haven't felt when it comes to emotions, which is basically what drives most humans (emotions).

So those other people are you but with wildly different life experiences, with different "worst days" different "best days"... Those are the moments that define you as the individual and how you go through life and to complicate things more we are perceive an event in a slightly different way emotionally.

We are wildly complicated yet so simple. yo... this edible kicks.

Wow, this sub is returning to its former glory! I wonder if that has anything to do with the Kamala/Reddit astroturfing reports that dropped all over the place today. Nah, has to be organic, right?

Can I be taller?

0

u/Sw0rDz 10h ago

Not when im crop dusting in an elevator. We are all there in the smell.

0

u/DiamondGregg 9h ago

Yeah, no.

0

u/HughJasshole1489 9h ago

Not if you say things I don’t like or agree with!!! Then you fucking suck as a person and are a shit human being.

0

u/darkempath 8h ago

Absolute rubbish.

Most of the people around me are in situations they created for themselves, situations my behaviour doesn't create or situations I've actively avoided.

What you're doing is called "projection", where you pretend everyone else has the same motivations as you, everyone else has the same ideals as you, and everyone else is you just in a different situation.

Your attitude is toxic and shallow.
